I compared the vanderkley to the hd212 berg and the genz cabs and bought the vanderkley. Your taste might be different though so you really need to try before you buy.
I've got the vanderkley and It's superb. Plenty of everything with a very clear and balanced sound. Fantastic build quality too. Not compared it to the other cabs you mentioned though so I cant comment on them .
Thats the sound and feel that lightweight heads don't produce isn't it ? There is something that valves and big power transformers do that cant be done by the class D stuff , very rich and musical. It might be heavy but It's worth it when you consider how long you will spend playing it compared to carrying it !

how was the finish on them?

Not as smooth as the aubergine , a bit rough , looked like it was painted on.
Surprisingly light though , also a one handed lift ...
30 watts will probably work for some gigs , all depends on what type of gigs they are of course.
Would never be enough for my gigs though that's for sure.

What would you need and how would you go about making your own?
[/quote]acoustic foam , some wood or mdf and some paint or carpet type covering , job done .
If you watch the DVD Francis and Alan get on really well. there's a good segment on the bonus disc that shows them going around their childhood homes etc. Francis actually says that he and Alan are getting along well again now.Rick's body language on the other hand makes him look like he's not as keen on the reunion.Either way it's good to see them put their differences aside and play live together again. In their heyday they were the hardest rocking live band I ever saw , got to love a bit of Quo !!

Really poor documentary I thought - based on two long chats with Rossi and Parfitt rather than actual events. And Cliff? WTF?
Elvis Costello document previous night was rather more thoughtfully put together.

The version of Hello Quo shown on BBC2 was an edit from the original DVD. The full DVD is a really excellent documentary and if you have the bonus disc there is even more great stuff on there making it well worth while. Whats wrong with having Sir Cliff on there anyway ??
