1. Did someone mention trifle ?? Now that sounds good to me ...nothing too heavy though ...
2. Who? Please could you define (in terms of building bass cabs) 'properly'? One answer to that is Marc Vanderkey.
3. 30 watts will probably work for some gigs , all depends on what type of gigs they are of course. Would never be enough for my gigs though that's for sure.
4. For sale , Streamliner 900. I've has this amp from new since March 2011 and has been totally reliable. Everything works as it should and is in excellent condition with no marks or scratches. Comes with original box and manual. Price is £385 shipped , no trades on this one as I need the cash for something else. Payment by bank transfer or cash on collection from Stockport area. More photos attached as requested.
5. Great customer service there. A good reason to buy from a British company knowing your stuff can be sorted quickly.
6. I'm just impressed that someone on this site has got an orangerie and a library.
7.
I own a Barefaced cab and a Rick......I feel like a leper.
what the hell were you thinking ??!!
8. That made me laugh ! You forgot to mention that they are loud too ......and light ......very loud ....very light ....etc etc .....
9.
What would you need and how would you go about making your own?
acoustic foam , some wood or mdf and some paint or carpet type covering , job done .
10. If you watch the DVD Francis and Alan get on really well. there's a good segment on the bonus disc that shows them going around their childhood homes etc. Francis actually says that he and Alan are getting along well again now.Rick's body language on the other hand makes him look like he's not as keen on the reunion.Either way it's good to see them put their differences aside and play live together again. In their heyday they were the hardest rocking live band I ever saw , got to love a bit of Quo !!
11.
Really poor documentary I thought - based on two long chats with Rossi and Parfitt rather than actual events. And Cliff? WTF? Elvis Costello document previous night was rather more thoughtfully put together.
The version of Hello Quo shown on BBC2 was an edit from the original DVD. The full DVD is a really excellent documentary and if you have the bonus disc there is even more great stuff on there making it well worth while. Whats wrong with having Sir Cliff on there anyway ??
12. They might sound the business but not £1899 worth of business.
13. Is waveguide just a fancy name for a horn or is it something different ?
14. The way you play a precision makes all the difference in tone. The way you attack the strings and different right hand positions can get you all the tones you need.
15. I've got the diago commuter and It's a great bit of kit .
16. All this thread needs now is a Barefaced comment to really get things cooking.....
17. Over 30lbs is too heavy for bass gear ? Blimey , that cuts down your options just a bit.....
18. I thought it was great. I liked the arrangements too , imagine how boring it must be to play those old songs exactly the same way after all those years ?Gimme Shelter was stunning.
19. I really like carpet covering to be honest. I've had carpet covered cabs for years that have always looked good , no rips or peeling off. I've had tolex that ripped everytime I looked at it and just looked rubbish after a while. Keeping hairs etc off carpet is easy , use covers and if they do look a bit dirty a quick hoover or rub over with gaffa tape does the trick !The Hammerite paint job is my least favourite finish as it just looks cheap on an expensive bit of kit. I agree about white cabs , I had one once and they do look the business !
20. It's always about how light and loud Barefaced are though isn't it ? What about tone ? I bought my current cab by how it sounds and compared it to other cabs by different manufacturers.I'm pretty sure all the other cabs mentioned were finished better than Barefaced too.
21.
This is going on for too long. Flat/coloured, no one really cares that much. I'd rather concentrate on having a mint gig and enjoying it...isn't that what its all about?
I agree. Get a sound you like then you can enjoy your gig . I remember the gig more than what my bass sounded like.
22. For the money I would expect a better finish that what Barefaced use. At the price point of the cabs the look and finish really matter I think.
23. The sound at that arena changes quite a bit between the upper and lower tiers. Having said that , if Roger waters can get an amazing crystal clear sound there why can't everyone else ? This attention to detail really matters when the tickets cost a small fortune.
