  1. I did a gig with Sweet on the bill once , they were just awesome !
  2. The Streamliner is very simple but also very versatile. Best amp I've owned.
  3. Nothing entertaining about that , probably the only ones really enjoying it were the guys playing / showing off.
  4. Just because something is made in America doesn't mean it's made by Americans , just like something made in England may not be made by people who are English ! Solution is simple , if your'e not happy with it get your money back and play the basses that you already have and are happy with.
  5. The 600 is grey and the 900 is silver. I went for the 900 because it's not much more money for the extra power. If you get the 600 there may be times when you wonder if you should have gone for the 900 ! The Streamliner is a fantastic amp though and I'm sure you will be more than happy with whichever one you choose.
  6. I've has my ABM 300 for 10 years now and it's a great head and never has a problem with it. Since having the Streamliner however the ABM is now a spare as the Genz is just better ! I also don't fancy having an amp that's called a bastard...... I like Ashdown though but unless they bring out something better than the Streamliner I won't be changing.
  7. I remember seeing him live in 1985. When he did his solo it was the first time I had heard a bass like that at a live gig. He played with awesome power and attitude , very inspiring to me at that time.
  8. Joe Mcelderry did a spot before us yesterday at the Great North Run. He was a really nice lad and his voice was spot on. Should be a good session to work on , enjoy !
  9. Carefull what you say about him around these parts...look what happened when I made a comment about Mr Miller ....
  10. Well someone has got their knickers in a twist over my Marcus Miller comment haven't they ??!! Actually it's the music he plays that is not to my taste , nothing about not being able to play as well as him , ridiculous. Not everyone likes the same thing.Fact. End of story. Goodnight x
  11. I'm well aware of what Marcus Miller does and it's just not my thing so to me £27 isn't a bargain at all. Also it's the venue that has put me off. Last year was great as it was spread out well , main theatre was perfect for the performances and good facilities for food etc. I enjoyed having some time outside too when the noise got to me ! The workshop I enjoyed most last year was Mo Foster in the smaller lecture theatre , I would definately go and see him again. As for this year , it seems a step backwards for more money , real shame.
  12. £27 to watch Marcus Miller going slap slap slap slap slap ? No ta..........
  13. I'm declaring myself out too. Shame really as last year's event was excellent and the venue was perfect for it.
  14. Forget about all those fancy pants mega expensive boutique basses. Get a Precision or a Jazz and enjoy !!
  15. I turn the knobs until it sounds good. Can be different each time depending on the venue and stage. I don't buy into the keeping the eq flat at all. Using amps this way usually produces a sound that i don't like so i adjust settings until i get a sound i can work with. When i had a LM3 i tried it flat with the filters off and it sounded pretty crap , much better using the eq or a VT pedal ! Don't be afraid to turn some knobs , as others have said , that's why they are there !
  16. I have used Hartke 4x10 and 2x10 cabs together for the last 9 years or so. I can use the small cab for home practice , and both cabs for gigs. This combo works great for me. The 2x10 is not as deep sounding as the 4x10 but the extra height of the stack lets me hear myself better and the two cabs really work well together. Dave.
  17. I had the Gigskinz bag a couple of years ago but I didn't rate it at all. I found the pockets too small and I thought the catch on the front was a bit naff. Not to mention the smell !! I have used a laptop bag ever since , plenty big enough for the Streamliner plus cables , tools etc. Also had the big bonus of it being free as it was just lying around unused !!
  18. Cheers Pete , cab sounded great at rehearsal tonight !
  19. Bought a Hartke cab from Pete , great item and superb price. Really nice guy to deal with ! Cheers , Dave.
  20. I'm not too good at describing sounds but let's just say that I did my first gig with the Streamliner on saturday and my LM3 is now going up for sale !!
  21. My Streamliner arrived today. It really is the closest thing to a valve amp in a micro size. Very impressive !! Gig on saturday night to try it out properly.
  22. The sunburst looks amazing. Only problem for me is the 38mm nut width , can't work out why they have done that. I would still go for a Ray 34 natural though.
  23. I'm definately interested in a Ray 34. It's a great bass for £400 less than i can get a Stingray 2eq new. I don't care what the resale value is as i play my basses , not keep them for a bit and sell them. I also want to buy a new bass not a second hand one so these are great value. Sure they may not be quite the same as a true Musicman but are they £400 worse in sound and quality ? I don't think so. I'm not bothered what name is on the headstock either , if it sounds and feels right to me then thats good enough i say !
