1. Sold Shem a Hiscox liteflite case, as ever a top chap to do business with
2.
You could be right though, maybe I just need to go louder
A plan with no drawbacks hahaha
3.
Sorry, I've decided to delete this post (I know it's been seen already though). I thought about it and don't think it added anything to the original topic. Let's just say I don't think BF is for me after all, and living proof that not everyone who buys one keeps it.
Given you've tried at least two differently voiced cabs at gigs and rehearsals you have come to a fair and rounded conclusion and you cannot argue with that in the slightest
4. What Musashimonkey means is that the Midget has a smaller cab than the SC so it lacks as much natural bottom end - so there's a trade off between getting the tweeter and losing a little bottom end. Edit - and hence if you turn the tweeter off there's less lows than the SC.
5.
I'm not sure, tbh. Late 2014, silver front, shelved porting on the side of the cab. Not sure of the other.
Could be either based on that but if they both had 15s they are older - the Gen 3 is all 12s and 10s
6. Bugger
7. RM800 on top of an RM110 cab with custom red grille
8. I only use my gig bags so this is surplus to requirements and getting in the way. It's in pristine condition as it came with my ACG Finn 4 last November and has never left the house since. £65 shipped to the UK mainland, pics to follow.
9. As per my other thread, I've just realised I'm way more skint than I first thought. I don't want to sell this but I have to be sensible - hopefully I won't have to sell any basses too :/ So we all know what these are, they're ace all valve amps perfectly suited to gigging and at only 19kg very easily manoeuvrable. I bought this one late last year from a chap who'd only had it about 8 months and it's in very good condition - a few little nicks in the tolex but overall nothing to worry about. It comes with a padded RoqSolid cover which also contains a front pouch for leads etc. £600 collected from RH6 (near Gatwick airport) Better photos to follow
10. I've just checked my bank balance and had heart failure. I was keeping these "just in case" a big gig ever occurred but frankly I was just being lazy about selling them. They were bought brand new direct from Ashdown last year just before the new EVO cabs were launched; these are the older vertical alignment type but with inset handles rather than the strap handle seen on most RM210s. I completely disconnected the tweeters in both as I wasnt a fan of them and these don't have any attenuation on the back plate - you'd need to rewire these back in I'm afraid. They have RoqSolid covers and are in superb condition having only been gigged twice. £90 each or £170 for the pair, collected from RH6 (near Gatwick airport). 250W, 8ohms each I believe. Sealed cabs, nice smooth time and very easy one hand lift Photos to follow.
11.
Assume you mean for P.A... not a fan of Mackie subs at all... If you want small and relatively light, then the Yam DXS12 is ok.. Just be reasonable what you expect it to do. There is a reason why the better subs are generally heavy 15 and 18's For budget prices...relatively, the RCF 705/905's are a step up, IMO.
I only have reasonable experience of Mackie subs and not of the other makes JTUK mentions but I have to agree, we've been using them for 10+ years now and they are a bit flabby, prone to breaking and generally just a pain in the arse.
12.
No, but to be fair, I didn't like the look of the cab from the off so 5 mins or less was enough. Not a fan of 15's anyway... so this was never going to be a winner. I've played 2..one was a compact thing...and the other I'm not sure. I didn't like the other players thru them either... but I can't say their usual tone is my thing at all...hence my TE story above.
So your own personal experience of them is from the older generation stuff, not the Gen 3 gear which IMO is a significant step up? (Asking for clarity not an argument - it appears that way from your statement but I may be reading incorrectly!)
13. Very interesting TB thread but I do wonder if we all skew the arguments based on our bias before going into it. I still highly rate the BF 12" driver and the Super Compact in particular. Having sold both of mine last year when I needed money I've pined for one ever since. I'm hoping to be in a position to acquire one again within the next 9 months or so but right now other things matter more than the bass cab I'm using on a handful of gigs. Of course there are other cabs out there which will do a very similar job (TKS springs to mind, as do Baer) but I loved the SC and have no reason to go anywhere else. Call me a fanboi if you like but I like supporting a British business which I've seen (and I'd like to think helped with a number of purchases!) grow from nothing
14. I liked that, it was cool
15. The Ampeg SVT-4 Pro and 8x10 rig I used last night was f***ing horrendous. I don't like Ampeg, there, I've said it Edit - actually this just backs up my previous post on this thread hahaha
16. If I had the money I'd be on this or a BF S12 like a randy dog on a leg. Not that that helps, but it's true
17.
Oh, I didn't know that.... well thats the end of Eden then.
Not really - when US Music owned Eden they did a good job of damaging the brand. Since Marshall took over they have a better UK and worldwide distribution channel, new products and have tempted some of the old team back to the fold according to Talkbass
18. Oooh, nice
19. Buy whynot's Barefaced Compact on here. 1x15, light, almost certainly more sensitive than what you have. They are the best 1x15 cab I've ever used
20.
Pics attached...
Nice
21.
Lucky enough to own both an LB30 and a CTM100. I was using the LB30 for rehearsals and small gigs initially, and it kept up with our guitarist's Fender Blues Junior quite comfortably. Then he upgraded to a Blackstar Artisan 15 and I needed more clout, so the CTM100 was a perfect upgrade. I would say that tonally they're not too far apart, though it's a bit hard to compare, as those passive EQs can give you a surprisingly broad range of sounds. But if you're looking for something that can give you a similar tone to an LB30, but at full-band volume levels, then you have made a very sound choice. Hope you enjoy it!
I concur!
22. I didn't even realise the GK had an overload light! I always used my ears but also got used to roughly where the control would end up with my different basses and playing styles
