1. Hi Guys, Due to the other halfs poor health seeing her out of work and the government not willing to help a jot (but thats for an off topic thread!) both my main basses are up for sale at good prices! First up my Musicman Stingray. White with maple neck and a white pearl plate. Only issues with this one is a crack in the laquer in the cutaway (pictured) and a chip where it has been dropped onto the jack socket at some point, it probably needs a new plate around the input to be 100% but that is reflected in the price. Due to the crack and sheer desperation I am asking for a sum of 650 sterling, no trades Next up my modded CIJ 57 reissue Precision. Has a Duncan 1/4 pounder in, bridge cover, thumb rest oh and some stickers! (although they are easily removed!) Comes with a good condition Hiscox liteflite case, leather strap and schaller locks. 450 for this. WIll take 1 grand the pair. Will also consider a cheapish lefty bass and cash (by that I mean 800+ cash for both and a bass) WIll throw in a brand new (like still boxed new) set of Fender Stainless strings with either.
2. OT those frets look MASSIVE.
3. I would of refused to leave and had they refused to pay completely would of then smashed the place up. Something I call the 'lads on tour' school of dealing with non paying venues. Failing that employ a manager to argue for you, when we were but young nippers my brother and I had a band going, I was 16 me brother was 14, we had a friend who was an 18 year old (looked late 20's) built like a brick outhouse, dreadlocked metaller. The couple of times venues refused to pay he got our money.
4. WHAT! Whats with all the cheap wicks! oh to be a righty.
5. Bloody hell thats a steal.
6. Have you considered a cheap fretted and doing the conversion? I did it with my Washburn and have no experience or patience but I am very happy with the result.
7. The one that gets me is Takamine, it is actually pronounced (by the employees themselves!) Tak a me nee. Very odd.
8. My brother, guitarist, and way way way more talented, and way way way more of a rockstar than me.
9. Strange you say that, I just found the only photo I think I have of my MIM Jazz (first bass after my starter Washburn) it went on eBay when I went to uni as the P had replaced it, decided I wanted it back and tracked down the gent I sold it to. bugger wouldnt sell it back! Said he prefered it to his Zoot! Badass bridge. It rocked.
10. Hey buddy, Sorry if I offended you that wasn't the intention! If you endorse them you obviously feel passionate about them so talking about them like you do makes sense! The basses look great!
11. I have to say do you work for this company? We have representatives of many brands on BC but you seem to be promoting them but acting like you are nothing to do with them..
12. I just fancy a 210 + 115 set up and have a deal lined up. Still might go for a Streamliner 600 and the Focus 410 but want to try both options. (the Streamliner will only put 375W into the one cab so not much net power loss and I do like the sound of 15''s)
13. Wrong.
14. Wayne take this from me. Go to thomann, order the following - http://www.thomann.d...haller_3d4b.htm http://www.thomann.d...black_right.htm x 2 http://www.thomann.d..._black_left.htm x 2 http://www.thomann.d...f_metal_1_b.htm x 4 http://www.thomann.d...raplocks_bk.htm About 100 quid, the best money you will ever spend. Look at mine. from THIS - To THIS! And thats before we mention how good the Schaller bridge unit is compared to the stock one, The schaller is what original Wicks came with!
15. ah cool, so I can do it either way, the head has parralel outs as well I have since discovered only one is a speakon one is jack.
16. ignore me! worked it out, the amp does have parallel outputs.
17. [sup]But that is in series right? ie only using one out from the head?[/sup]
18. Really quick question, I read the thread about impedence and think I get it but want some confirmation before I spend my money! I am looking at the following set up - Genze Benz Shuttle 3 going into Focus 2x10 and Focus 1x15 cabs The head is 300W at 4ohm through one speaker out. The cabs are both 300W 8ohm cabs. If I take the cable from the head, into the 2x10 then from 2x10 to 1x15 I will be putting a 4ohm load onto the head and then get the full 300W out of the rig right?
19. I actually agree with this, and set it quite low, 20, maybe 30 posts. Thats not a mountain to climb really, quick thread in introductions, comment on a bassist/bass/amp or two and they will be there.
20. Mani is one of my best mates Cousins. True story! If you are reading this Mani, his name is Jordan and lives in Strood, I believe you have visited the area, specifically the Sportsman.
21.
Anyhow, here's the clip I mentioned earlier:
Imma throw this out there. Abigail Ybarra was a hotty.
22. If it is for a fretless then I would suggest MEC passives. I always found them great pickups on passive basses, thoman stock the neck but not bridge (I am sure an email to them would get a bridge as well) here - http://www.thomann.de/gb/mec_m_60101s.htm Failing that if you want some real punch - 1/4 pounders. http://www.thomann.de/gb/seymour_duncan_ssj53s_jset.htm That is a hell of a price!
23. Thanks for all the advice so far but like I said in the first post I have NO enjoyment from playing/practicing alone. Sounds silly to some I know but I like to play with other people (even just an acoustic guitar or keys or god knows what!) I cannot despite all my best effort 'practice'
24. Hey Everyone, My most recent band seems to of fallen apart before it properly got going which seems to of been the regular way of things the last few years. I cant remember the last time I played live in fact! I have come to the somewhat drastic decision to get into a band who are taking it seriously (well as seriously as can be expected for musicians!) by May or sell all my stuff, it actually depresses me to see thousands worth of instruments and accessories sitting in my lounge not being used and I really have no enjoyment sitting playing on my own. So before I get to the 'bass suicide' can anyone reccomend ways to find band members I mgiht not of tried? I have tried - Open mic nights facebook sites like 'find a band' small ads in papers. I dotn want to play indie or anything too complicated but to be honest other than those 2 things I will pretty much play ANYTHING!
