1. I asked why we needed more than one kid? We have 4. As far as instruments go, I want it I buy it. After all, I'm paying the morgage and earning all the money. Hence I have 3 keyboards, 2 acoustic guitars, 2 chapman sticks, 3 basses, 7 electric guitars, an electronic drumkit and two further electric guitars in pieces. besides, it does the kids good to go hungry occasionally .............
2. Yes, I believe that it can be done as I enquired recently. Check out Sims, they are experts. I'm in the process of getting some LEDs fitted right now actually, to one of my Chapman sticks.
3. I don't know a thing about them, I kind of dismissed them as a joke band from what I've seen of them but I guess that's a bit unfair. I'm not sure that a Rammstein tribute band will go great guns in the UK though, they're pretty unknown here I'd say.
4. I was thinking of getting that DVD. Is it as good as I think it will be???
5. I've had a Status for a couple of years and really like it. I wasn't sure though that it was my 'ideal' bass so I've been looking out for something else for the past 8 months or so. I had high hopes that Musicman might be what I was looking for, but I tried a few and it really wasn't happening for me at all. The more basses I try, the more I think that I might stick with Status!
6.
I like Topaz.... Dont sneer,if you know the sh*t both him and Warr have had to go through, that guy is the chief historian upon 'tap' style on guitars... And the Megatar,is in theory 'easier' that the Stick to play.
Hmmm ..............
7. For me the ultimate is more about the playability and feel. That can't be tweaked with digital modelling, unless it's gone a long way since I last looked.
8. Ask me on my deathbed.
9. I'm amazed that people can sing at the same time as playing bass. I can't sing. Having said that, I sing for my own entertainment at home. I have a go when playing guitar, and can strum along to chord charts whilst reading the words, I read chords on the keyboard and sing along, but bass seems totally impossible! Even for stuff that I know well. For some reason I just can't make it work unless it's something incredibly simple. So how many of you can sing at the same time? (loads I bet!) Anyone else the same as me?
10. If I wasn't married I'd snap this up! I'd love a cheap 6 string to try. Unfortunately my house is crammed to the rafters with instruments already, and I even have 3 farmed out at work (plus a guitar on the way!) Too bad - If you are single the thought of where will it live doesn't even enter the equation!
11. I don't get on with Fender basses, but strats are my weapon of choice in the 6 string division.
12. I find that very ugly.
13. For some reason, the chapman stick seems to attract bassists more than it does guitarists, keyboard players et al. I never understand why? I play chapman stick, but I don't relate it to bass playing at all, to me it is melody playing with my right hand whilst accompanying with the left hand (utilising some bass notes) - all tapped with the fingers. Curiously that description sounds like piano playing! I agree with you that a stick is NOT a bass! Having said that, it can be used to fill the role of bass within a band. I have an interview with Tony Levin, and he states that when he plays stick in a band setting, he only uses the bass strings, he doesn't use the whole thing unless playing solo. Great instrument, but extremely hard to master in my opinion (eg I'm nowhere near!)
14. If it was a 5 stringer I'd certainly have had it. I really enjoy project stuff and those hohners are basically pretty good, I have a 5 string fretted.
15. ................... and played Hawkwind's 'Silver machine'???
16. It wouldn't be the bass for me but it does look pretty awesome! Especially if your guitarist has a JS chrome guitar as well!
17. Wow! I saw this bass for sale last time and soooooo wanted it - but you bought it before I got any cash together! Totally beautiful, but I've just spent about £700 on GAS in the past 2 weeks so I don't think I can raise the cash. Bummer! Out of interest, where in N6 is it? I work in NW9 and I was wondering how far?? I'd love to try it.
18. Those look amazing. Not sure you'll shift it at that price though. Ouch - caps lock too intense!
19. bump for a great bass. I was going to bid on one exactly like this on eBay a few years ago - and I miscalculated the finish time and missed it! If I didn't have my S2 classic I would grab it myself.
20. I'd be amazed if anyone is actually enough of a tw*t to actually buy that.
21. You wrote the book then Bilbo?? That's amazing! I'd love to write a book and get it published.
22.
I read a book once.
I recall that you were looking for it again .......
23. Maybe it's inherent beauty causes onlookers to soil their pants??? Personally, I like the shape not. And it is inadequate in the string numerical dept for my porpoises (they are very fussy).
24. As a multi-instrumentalist, I was quite surprised when I first came here. It seems to me that bassists, more than any other kind of musicians that I have hung around on forums with, seem to largely be happy to stick to their defined role and dissaprove of stuff that is out of the box, so to speak. It is fairly obvious as to why this would be the case, as a bass player within a band has a job to do, but I don't see what's wrong with embracing creative outlets on the instrument.
25.
I'd rather we just stop using the word "relic" as a verb. God missed the K off to show us that it wasn't a word that would naturally conjugate.
Great post!
