LOOKING TO BUY A STICK??? 1) They turn up on ebay sometimes. Just set up a search and get it to email you when one shows up 2) Stickist.com has a classified section: LINK HERE 3) Call Stick Enterprises, they sometimes have old ones to sell on. If you order a new one the wait seems to be in the region of 12 months these days! Note: You need to phone them, as they are very poor at replying to emails! Contact details can be found at www.stick.com
Two, That's just greedy dude! I liked your playing - I'm always impressed by those who tackle the full range two hand stuff as I've been too lazy to try it seriously. - I need both hands just to play my basslines!
My approach has never been about basslines. I like to play the stick as melody line with backing arpeggios that include bass notes. There are many ways to play the stick! Two sticks: I got a graphite 12 originally after many months of scouring eBay, but I'm a BIG fan of wood generally, so I was always on the lookout for something else. A Paduak 12 eventually showed up and I had the spare cash so I got it, with the intention of letting the Graphite stick go. In actual fact the graphite didn't go as I found it useful to have it at work and noodle in my lunchbreaks.

What kind of mad idiot would try to play one of those things?????? Oh yeah, I have two by the way. Some videos in my link below. I actually kind of gave up about a year and a half ago. I just couldn't get to grips with what I wanted to do with it and felt that it wasn't working out to my satisfaction. I've had a few attempts to get back into it but as a multi-instrumentalist I have a lot of other stuff to play with!

Not a bass but when will we see it on one?
Golchen replied to phsycoandy's topic in General Discussion
I think that it's a really interesting innovation, but it's not something that I am interested in owning personally. Likewise with Fenders VG strat. -
What I want to know is how can I buy one that looks that good in the UK???
-
I didn't vote as I would go for 'maybe' instead of yes/no/don't care. I'm OK with as is, but I'm also happy to see any improvements/new features. The one thing that I'm not big on is paying! There are too many free places out there to get tied to one that wants your money.

**SOLD** Warwick Streamer Stage I 5-string
Golchen replied to Captain Bassman's topic in Basses For Sale
I'm almost half interested, but I've never even laid my hands on a Warwick, let alone a streamer. I might see if I can get my hands on one in the next couple of days to see how it feels. I'm kind of looking for another bass at the moment and was thinking of a Spector, but might as well keep open to other options ............ -

I just saw this pic over at another Forum I go to, and I was blown away by the awesomeness of this (6 string) spector. What a thing of beauty. If I could only get hold of a 5 string like that ...............

Bass thicky here ............... what's the difference between the Precision and the jazz bass? Not so much physical differences, but more of application, playability, versatility etc?
-
I have the 5 string model as my no2 bass. Very playable.

I find that I have come across some instruments that I just had to have, all other issues just pale into insignificance and your heart rules your head. If it's one of those I say go for it. As mentioned before here, you can sell a few years down the line if it isn't the one.

I realise that this is a bit of a daft question as 99.9% of you will probably think it's a pile of poop, but I was wondering if it would be of any use as a cheap practice amp? I need something small enough that the wife won't even see it when I sneak it into the house and hide it in the utility room, and I quite like the idea of the cd/mp3 input for practice purposes. Do you think it would be any good for this? Link to one here: LINK HERE

Christian Worship track 'Mourning into dancing'. It's got a really nice bit to start with.

It's a tough question, and not as straightforward as I first thought. My initial reaction was that you can't audition and not tell them that you will be going - really doesn't seem fair! However, if it has the potential to be a 'major' thing, and could possibly cause you to defer your studies then I would say definitely go for it. As mentioned before you could probably learn more than if you were studying! If you think that it's going to be a big thing, you get the job but it doesn't work out great, then that's the time to consider the studies. I wouldn't tell them that there was a plan B all along though, I don't see that it would be good for anyone for that information to see the light.
Jesus, I though I was alone using my little finger!
I am not adverse to RH pinky action myself but then I do play a Chapman stick as well.
That's a real beaut! I'd be keen to offer you some cash for it... ...if it had one more string and one less headstock.
I concur, one more string, one less headstock AND LEDs and I would happily throw big wads of cash at you. Nice looking bass anyway though.

They seem to regularly get good press and reviews generally, and Trev Wilkinson is a top designer within the industry. I can't believe that any company would be so dumb as to have an 'unsearchable' brand name though! - Doh!

I really like to hear solo bass playing. One of the things that surprised me when I first joined here was that the prevailing attitude seemed to be that the bass player has a job to do, and therefore 99% of his output should fit within that box. I totally understand where that is coming from, as, after all, the bass DOES have a job to do! But I thought that more people would embrace ANY form of expression on what is basically just another instrument. I love to hear great bass playing within the context of a song, but I also love to hear the likes of Michael Manring or Stanley Clarke just exploring. One of my favourite 'Bass moments' is Stu Hamm playing 'Country music', and I've yet to meet a non-bass player who doesn't just think that it's a fantastic piece of music!

If that is a euro I'd bite their hand off for it now if I lived close enough! There's a secondhand one in my local shop that I quite fancy but it's £900!
I've been told I'm very good and the last compliment I recieved was that I was 'sh*t hot on bass'. Although, having said this, I'm a woman, and therefore they're probably just trying to get in my pants.
Damn, I knew the day would come when women could finally read men ........... how much do we have to pay you to keep it a secret?

What was the gear outcome of 2008 for you?
Golchen replied to JimBobTTD's topic in General Discussion
Heh! You're all a bunch of GAS whores! In - Fender american Strat - 61 key controller Out - nothing! I planned to get another bass but nothing has tickled my fancy enough yet. -
I know that GB do a really good circuit for flashing LEDs. Do they fit it to other guitars or is it a GB only thing? I thought that I saw a Status that had it on a video? I tried emailing them about a month ago but got no reply. I believe that SIMs also do some kind of flashing circuit as well (not quite as dynamic!) but is there any other aftermarket option out there for this sort of thing that anyone has seen? I do have LEDs on my Status, but I really like the idea of the flashing option (a bit sad in some people's eyes I guess!)

I have a low opinion of my playing with all the instruments that I abuse. I can't help but focus on all the negatives. I also find that generally the internet is awash with people who just can't wait to tell you how crap you are! On the plus side - If I play any instrument to a non-musician they think I am amazing! (er .......... but I'm probably not!)
