UK made Ashdown MAG600 Evo I, Hartke LH500 or Little Giant 1000?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs
Received this first thing this morning
Morning Derek, Thanks for the email and a happy new year to you. We did indeed do an exclusive Ltd run of Evo 1 MAG 600H's a few months ago for Soundslive. At the time we had no stock of the Chinese made Evo 2 and so wanted to produce something to fill the gap whilst people were waiting. The head comprises of the same components you would find in a MAG 600 Evo 1 head but these were built, tested and covered at our new manufacturing facility in Maldon Essex. Hope this helps and of course one of these heads should pair up with your new 8x10 very nicely. All the best and any other queries or questions just ask. Regards, Lee Alexander Ashdown/Hayden/Zemaitis/Lodestone UK Sales Manager
-
I paid £67 for mine

UK made Ashdown MAG600 Evo I, Hartke LH500 or Little Giant 1000?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs
I do have a habit of changing gear often but I don't even have the 8x10" yet. Just bought it the other day so it won't ship until tomorrow at the very earliest, possibly tuesday. Purpleturtle on Ebay were doing a crazy deal of a mag 810 for £329 delivered and I've always wanted one while I'm still young enough to be able to lift it. I do have my Trace Elliot V-type combo on Ebay just now though with the intension of selling it to buy a new head. If it doesn't sell then I'm probably going to make myself a sleeve and take the amp out of the combo cos it sounds amazing but it would mean having a redundant combo box to store somewhere so I'd rather sell it. I've been using it with a series 6 Trace Elliot 1518 cab and am in two minds whether or not to sell that as well or keep it for really small gigs although both cabs have the same footprint. -
I'm selling my Trace v-type 1x15" combo. Plenty of power and 2 valve preamp for warmth or adding grit depending on what sound you like. As I've said before its my idea of what a valve amp should sound like without the exprense of having to buy valves for it.

I wouldn't use the compresor anyway so it sounds good so far - no idea if ashdown are back to work tomorrow or tuesday but I'll post the reply on here. -
I had a maple fretless one last year that I cleaned up. Mine also had the microphonic pickup and sounded terrible. Ended up selling it to someone in the US who spent as much on postage as they did on the bass. There we go: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...rabber+fretless

Spotted this last night: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...29~ID~11199.asp I knew there were issues with the Chinese made ones in the past but does anyone know what's in them? Do they have ABM Evo I parts? Etc? Seems like a really good deal since it has the bare minimum of features which is something that I like. I think I'll email Ashdown and see what the score is.

Longest ever bass listing on the bay?

I've just called Dolphin Music - they're doing the SVT Pro-II for £800. Details are a bit sketchy but they're out of stock and would need to wait until monday until they can find out when and if they can get them and they said they'd honour the price after VAT goes up on 1st january. I've looking for a while for a second hand one but haven't seen any that tickle my fancy so far - I'd be happy with that or a VR as well. Unless someone has a stash of SVT IIs somewhere or similar then I'll be going with one of those if they're available.

Never seen one of these before - thankfully too far away for me to collect it. I don;t think my back would thank me http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rivera-TBR-5-Hammer-...=item3efb2a6b5a

i sold my one on Ebay last week for £360 so this is a bit of a bargain. Are you sure that it takes a 4ohm cab? These didn;t come from trace with the facility to add an extension cab but was something that trace could modify. It will take another 8ohm cab to make it 4ohm altogether. If you're happy to pack it up and for someone to pay for it, parcelmonkey will ship this for around £70. That's how much someone wanted my one

How can i get a sound like my Trace V-type Combo?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs
Its not a lack of power I have, there's plenty of that. I just don;t want to fry the or pop the speaker in it. I've tried an LH500 at my local rehearsal studio but I think that if I were to try and overdrive the preamp, I'd have to have the volume higher than I need it. I have thought about removing the amp from the combo and making a sleeve for it but that would leave me with a redundant cab. I've never seen a trace V-type preamp for sale before -
I am currently using a 15" Trace V-type combo that I bought from Tinman (previously owned by Merton and Nash) I absolutely love the sound but for larger gigs, even when using another trace 1518 cab, the speaker travel in the combo is quite a lot and I fear I may end up popping it. I have the gain set so that when I dig in, it sounds really dirty and really overdriven. I wouls like to keep the combo for use as a monitor in my wedding band but get something similar in head form to drive the 1518 and possibly another 1518 or 1818 but am unsure what to get. I've never seen another Trace head that has 2 preamp valves without it being all-valve. I'm not sure that a single valve would give me the drive that i want. I'm currently using 2 Tesla 12AX7 valves and they seem to drive the preamp more than the Marshall ones that they replaced and it suits my style as i like a really dirty, overdriven tone. My quandry is whether to go for a valve preamp, with more than one valve, and solid state power amp or just go for it and get an all-valve amp that i can get to go dirty. As far as preamps are concerned I am only aware of the Ampeg SVP and the long discontinued SWR Interstellar overdrive. For an all-valve amp, it would have to be something not too powerful so that i can overdrive it easily enough. My current Trace is 250w @ 8ohms. I am unsue whether to get something that would give me 200w of clean power or whether I would have to go lower to get the dirt that i want. Or should I get something like a good, all valve 5w or something similar combo and output it into a sloid state amp As far as cash goes, I'd be looking to spend no more than £600 and I've read the Valves v Solid State thread many times already

Both are on Ebay just now but will pull them provided there are no bids I would prefer to meet up or deliver this to the winner as delivery is going to be quite pricey but can quote for delivery if you are interested. I'm guessing at over £50 per item due to the size and weight. If I am delivering or meeting you, I will only be charging you the cost of petrol..
