The Rickenbacker was a present a deceased-family member so I have very mixed feelings about. I'd love to swap it in a moment for something more comfortable but it has a lot of continental value, plus it looks the dogs bollocks. Any thoughts of swapping/selling make me feel guilty but then the pain my fingers are in at the moment isn't good!
Those crazy French. Sorry, I know exactly what you mean. I had an absolutely cracking Rick 4003BB but after a night of playing it, I felt like I had arthritis. One of a small handful of basses I've hated having to sell.

My Precision comprises a 2009 MIM Fender body, 1978 Fender US Machineheads and a mid 80s Fender MIJ neck. It has a lollar pickup, shaller bridge and the usual good quality components. The reason I did this is that i had most of the parts already. I could probably get the best part of £600-700 for the parts if I sold them separately but that kind of money would get you a second hand 2009 MIA precision so if i do ever sell it, I would probably have to take it apart again and sell the individual parts.

what about a Squier classic vibe 50s thingy bass?

Bridge cover over a newer high mass bridge???
Delberthot replied to EssentialTension's topic in Repairs and Technical
I've put both older style (single coil type) and newer type (split pickup style) bridge covers over Gotoh 201s with no problems -
How about a Jazz bass bridge cover to hide it and make it a bit retro? That way if you ever decide to convert it back to P & J, you just need to take the cover off and reattach the pickup

SOLD - SQUIER P-BASS Special - Punk Purple! PLUS CASE PLUS P+P
Delberthot replied to merello's topic in Basses For Sale
Would a bass relay be possible? Sort of like passing the torch at the olympics until it gets down to Zoe? I would say that if you are unhappy packing without a hard case, adding a hard case adds to the cost then take the neck off and use a smaller box, wrapped well and it can easily be assembled at the other end -
I've done that in the past if there's something I'm selling and I want to give all the watchers a kick up the @r$e to actually bid instead of watching and doing nothing or stop watching if they've no intension of bidding. I did it with my trace V-type combo cos if it hadn't sold for the second time, I was going to take the amp out and making a sleeve for it to use with my 8x10" I did it with my 2-tone sunburst '51 reissue precision as I really didn;t want to sell it so I thought that if I was going to sell it then I'll sell it with a silly BIN price and added that I would keep it if it didn;t sell - sold within 6 hours.

you can have someone pay the money directly into your bank account as long as you are happy with that. giving someone your bank details means that they can deposit money only so don't worry about someone getting into your account and stealing it. I only do bank transfers on this forum and with people that I think i can trust. Ebay is a large, faceless thingy where you could be dealing with anyone. The vast majority of us here are all about helping each other out. -

try getting a hold of an empty flat screen TV box, you can get a big roll of bubblewrap on Ebay for less than a tenner. Wrap the bass up with the bubblewrap, place in the box, pack well so that it won;t move around and the cut the box down to the smallest size you can to save on postage. Parcelmonkey are currently the cheapest for sending within the UK but there are other and there's a FAQ thread for couriers somewhere around here. You'll have a load of bubblewrap left over for future things. I'm out of here cos I'm starting to get tempted myself and live close enough to collect. -
Apparently the musician's union are trying to force people who mime to have that on tickets and adverts so people know what they are getting. Surely if the gaga gig is mimed then they could just have got a hold of a few pretty boys (or girls) to mime instead of actual musicians - Why didn't they just get the girls from the Robert Palmer video? I don't see the point of hiring real musicians to mime - even if there was a dvd at the end of it, most producers cannot line up what a mucisian is playing to what you can hear so they could be pretending to play anything.

be careful with those trolleys - the folding in wheels have a habit of folding in when you are moving stuff I've just ordered one of these for moving my new 8x10" around when there's stairs involved:

I'll probably take the badge off - not through snobbery but i just like things to be plain. The new ones screw on as opposed to the ones with the metal grill that were rivetted on I think
Nice! I like hte new-look MAG cab How do you like the LH500?
I've not fired up the amp yet - it arrived this morning and I wanted to let it adjust to room temperature to make sure I didn't fry it if there was any condensation inside with being out in the cold. The flash on the camera makes it look like you can see the drivers in the cab but you can't. I've just realised that this has a fabric front whereas the older one has the metal front. I'll maybe specify a bigger cover for it so I can put some foam in front of it inside the cover when I am moving it.

A lot of the fun of finding what suits you is to buy, try and sell if you don't like it. Buy something second hand so you won't lose anything if you don't like it. Almost anything can be posted if your buyer lives too far away to collect so i wouldn't worry too much about that. I've posted everything from pickups to a 45kg trace combo. If you want warm and the ability to push it into overdrive then either something like the trace combo I am selling or a BassTerror as they have 2 valves in them - not that you need valves. Both Gallien amps I have had were very warm amps that can be pushed into mild overdrive despite not having valves due to a special circuit in them. I'm going to be gigging my new Hartke LH500 tonight. This is based on the Fender Bassman preamp with one valve coupled with a solid state amp so we'll see how that goes tonight. I almost bought one of the UK made Ashdown MAG600 heads that Soundslive are doing just because they are so cheap and UK made (not sure if that is necessarily better) I was also looking at the Kustom DE300 head that Thomann does but couldn't find enough information about them to purchase
-
My new rig is now complete i won't be able to gig it tonight as I'm waiting for a protective cover for the cab and I need to order a trolley for moving it up and down stairs. I'll probably use the amp and take my trace 1518 tonight

UK made Ashdown MAG600 Evo I, Hartke LH500 or Little Giant 1000?
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs
In case anyone's interested, I went with the hartke.Bought itfrom the classifieds here and just waiting for it to arrive. Merton's bound to think I'm stalking him cos I'm selling the trace v-type combo he used to own and have gone with the amp he replaced it with as well. I did win a watch though with my cab - because of the weather, the mag 810 I bought couldn;t be collected by their courier so they had ashdown send one directly and instead of getting one of the older ones with the blue speakers, I got one of the new Evo II ones -
