I seem to have gone full circle with my bass gear. 15 years ago I had a GP7 7210H combo and 1048H cab and a 1153 cab that i later used with a GK 800RB. My main amp is a v-type 1x15" but that's been left at the venue we're doing the christmas party nights over Christmas so I can't get any photos of it but here's what it looks like inside - taken yesterday when I changed the preamp valves. I briefly had a 2103H I have a second rig that i haven't used yet as I bought it intending to use it with the Rock band but we aren't due to play until boxing night. Its a 1984 1110 combo that was modded by Trace to allow an 8ohm cab to be used with it and you can also connect a speaker lead to another input to use it as a 4x10" cab True to form, i have it on Ebay just now and I haven't even gigged with it yet I also have a 1518 in excellent condition that had a replacement driver put in it that was recommended by Rob Green when he was at Trace

I've now seen Roachford 6 times and would consider them one of my favourite bands. Andrew Roachford has had a new band since at least 2005 but I only saw them perform at the beginning of November. the previous 5 times were with Derrick Taylor on bass playing duties who is a fantastic player. An absolutely amazingly talented musician/vocalist, his uncle Bill taught Ronnie Scott how to play sax. Although I am a rocker and funker at heart, i absolutely love his music and will definitely see him again if he comes up here again. Any more fans of Andrew or his more than capable bass player, Raoul?

I'm a serious Queen fan but have never been to see a tribute band before - . I'll need to see if they're playing anywhere near me

8 string basses are fun and 12vers are just mental. I played entire rock sets with a 12 string bass using my fingers as opposed to a pick and I was knackered by the end of it. I've yet to try a Warwick Streamer and I've always wanted to play an early 50s Fender bass just to see what its like I also want to try a Gibson EB-1 as well and a £5000 coffee table bass just for the hell of it.

Basses are very sort after, and this one has just been fully set up and double died by the best in the business (Bernie Goodfellow) so if you are looking for a supper fast bass that has the most amazing slap sounds they certainly are sorted right enough. its dead and if light evening meals are your thing then slappedy slap slap

just along the road from me as well

I bought a small Art DI box for exactly the same issue. my signal has alweways been far too hot as I've always liked to overdrive the preamp to get my sound. The Art DI has 2 pads so you can drop it by 10dB and it that isn't enought, it has a second 10dB pad to drop it ever further. I have mine coming from the line out of my Trace combo

I'm sure the thinking behind it was to change the neck when your frets wore out, plus its cheaper and easier to make. I've just mated a 2009 MIM Fender Precision body to a mid 80s MIJ Fender Precision neck and its as tight as a very tight thing

I used 500k CTS pots in my warmoths cos I could never find 250k ones that could be used with a rear routed body but normally 250k is recommended for single coil pickups and 500k for humbuckers. I use paper-in-oil caps for their mojo snake oil type properties. I've just bought another batch and have fired the first one into my precision so we'll see how it sounds at next week's gig.

It looks like the only original part is the neck from an early 70s one by the looks of it.

Its not to be confused with the V4, V6, V8 etc all valve stuff. It has 2 preamp tubes and solid state amp If it broke beyond repair, got nicked or squashed under a lorry I'd be Pming Overwater#1 to buy his 4x8" V-Type combo
-
I had been thinking about the new stuff when Tinman put up his 1x15" V-type combo for sale. Your tastes change over the years but this is one of the best sounding amps I have ever owned. I'm really looking forward to trying out my recent purchase of a 25 year old 1110 4x10" combo and 1518 cab on Boxing night. I've also owned a 7210H combo & 1048H, 1513, 2103H cabs. Apart from the 2 years with the Schroeder and the short spell with the Behringer BA410 with shattering cones, I have used trace cabs my whole gigging life. I'd still like a Twin head and a 1248 cab or 2 when I've got the cash

Is This Actually An MIJ/CIJ Fender?
Delberthot replied to Lew-Bass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
all left handed Fenders I've seen only have Fender on the headstock - must be too much money to design a left handed decal One on this website http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/index.php?...guitars&a=3 -
What time did the Damned come on stage, DH? I am not bothereed about missing GirlSchool (never liked them, saw them on the Bomber tour in 1979/80 I think) but would hate to miss the Damned
Think it must've been about 8 at the earliest
-
I saw both these bands on Thursday at the O2 Academy in Glasgow. The Damned were fantastic, the bass sounded like a chainsaw ripping through the tunes. Couldn't work out what bass it was he was using though but he had a big Trace head and Ampeg 8x10". The mixing left a lot to be desired as you couldn't really hear the vocals that well. Before I went I knew maybe 2 Motorhead tunes - Ace of Spades and Killed by Death. A very polished performance, really really tight as well. They were all in fine form and since this was the first time I've heard them live, it was the first time I've been able to hear Lemmy playing chords, such a huge sound for 3 musicians. The loudest gig I've ever been to, I had my earplugs on the whole night that i usually use for gigging. It was seriously loud even with them in. I've never seen so much facial hair, piercings and leather in the one place in my life. Highly recommended

Biggest Fattest Chunkiest widest Neck out there?
Delberthot replied to AttitudeCastle's topic in Bass Guitars
i once played a 5 string squier precision, it was like playing a cricket bat, honestly.
They're hellish - You could easily get another string on there for the width of the neck. There you go Squier - Fender have finally caught up with the rest of the world so why not make it the first Squier 6 string? -
The colour underneath it makes it look like its been used to stir a tub of magnolia paint

McCormack's in Glasgow had a full stack for yonks - may still have it in fact

Leaving cabs in a car/van for extended periods
Delberthot replied to GreeneKing's topic in Amps and Cabs
I must've been lucky then - there have ben times when I couldn't be bothered to carry my gear the 5 feet into the house after a gig. This has been many times over the year so I've been lucky not to have anything damaged. Perhaps the differerence being that I have brought the stuff in and its sat in the house for the best part of a week so any moisture that may have got into it has evaporated - leaving the gear in a cold van and then transferring it into a warm gig without it sitting for a few hours will probably cause a lot of damage. -
There's a lot of trace stuff for sale on here just now and I want it all. Very reliable stuff, as is Peavey. Have a look on Ebay, I've found that most of the older solid state bass gear on there is peavey and trace so it tells you something that they're still going after all these years I just picked up a 1110 4x10" combo from 1984 and a 1518 1x14" from slightly later for £230 and its in really good condition having only been used in residency at holiday camps during the summer.

I am in the 'hate it' camp, its about as wrong a colour as you can get - kind of a cross between puss and sputum - Warmoth now do finishes in this colour along with matching scratchplate http://www.warmoth.com/Paint/Burst.aspx 4th one along from the top left - knock yourself out
