  1. Update 2 - the importance of promotion: seeing on Bandcamp the Andy Rourke credit I realised I had liked your stuff before, but with so much else going on I had forgotten. You need to keep reminding people (especially those of us of a certain vintage) 😆 Keep up the great work!
  2. Update having listened - you really do not need to be ashamed of 'self-promotion. This is great!
  3. Don't be daft, you're on national radio in a nation with a very fine heritage of music. You should be dead chuffed and promote it and much as you can! Off to listen to it now, and congratulations!
  4. If anything, slackening off the other strings will be the bigger problem as the tension across the neck will be way off kilter. Semitone up no problem.
  5. His brother Frank used to run the licensing business for Trojan Records. Licensed many a track for compilations off him.
  6. I used to play in a band at school with drummer Gary Wallis who went on to play percussion live with Pink Floyd and has been the drummer for Mike & the Mechanics for about 30 years and Tom Jones' drummer/musical director for about the same time. Was really nice of him to introduce me to Mike Rutherford as his first ever band mate. A couple fun ones when I was working in the record business - surprising John Mayall by acting as his guitar tech and changing an e string for him at a gig in Malmo. Possibly one of the most surreal moments, taking Peter Green to see Fleetwood Mac at Earls Court. And last but not least, along with Harvey Goldsmith, being asked by the Gipsy Kings' roadie if we could iron the band's shirts. Guess which one of us ended up doing it...
  7. HMV have been opening quite a few new stores under new ownership just recently.
  8. And congratulations to @Frank Blankfor spotting a 13 year old dad joke 😆
  9. Well this is going well - thanks for all the contributions so far. Great to see the Turkish material @chriswareham @Baloney Balderdash @Leonard Smalls I've been enjoying some of the more club orientated fusion that is getting used on a lot of Turkish holiday ads at the moment (and giving me serious holiday envy)! Looking forward to delving in to these contributions.
  10. And Therapy? from Belfast - part of the UK but not part of Great Britain, so probably not Brit Rock. Sorry @christhammer666 looks like you need to choose another two! And speaking of Therapy?, I was expecting Venom in the Death Metal selection - great later Therapy? lyric, Venom on the juke box, hey Satan, you rock!
  11. Jump on a train to Guildford (just over half hour from Waterloo). Anderson's have lots of small combos being shown as in stock.
  12. Roger Cotton, late keyboard player for Peter Green Splinter Group told me a similar story of getting a Hammond B3 on and off the Renfrew Ferry, Glasgow. Load in - tide in so a steep climb. Load out several hours later...
  13. I didn't know there had been an actual definition of Yacht Rock - just thought it was possibly the second most horrendous name for a musical genre after Blue Eyed Soul!
  14. Isn't this what some people have bestowed the ghastly name 'Yacht Rock' to?
  15. In context with the rest of this completely outlandish nonsense I don't think it is a fixation (also think it is the same girl returning, not multiple girls) just something outrageous for outrage sake.
  16. Must listen to some more Clutch. Met them around the time of The Jam Room - such lovely people.
  17. Actually that's a bit of a problem as it wasn't so much about individual tracks with Last. His big success was with albums such as Non-Stop Dancing, and a whole James Last 'A Go-Go' series. Happy Heart was the only single of note.
  18. Must give these a go - hoping someone will do a non Neo Prog suggestion, one Genre I've never really explored and really should (especially as I was once big into Jazz-Rock).
  19. Just the tiniest bit disappointed that James Last didn't make the cut!
  20. Will check these out later. Can always expect something a little Off Piste from you Mr Smalls - thanks.
  21. OK, I know that genres are a flawed concept, and that top 3s chop and change, but just for fun, and to possibly broaden my (and hopefully others) musical horizons, give me a Genre you love and 3 tracks that represent it. Feel free to duplicate other people's suggestions.
