  1. Whatever happened to the jumble sale? They don't seem to exist anymore. Then again, there wasn't the proliferation of charity shops and car boot sales when the jumble sale ruled the second hand world.
  2. In the world of auctions, antiques etc, 20 years. I'm looking forward to someone listing a Danelectro as Mid-Century Modern 😎
  3. Happy birthday @Bluewine
  4. Sorry to hear this - take care of yourself @Newfoundfreedom
  5. OK, bit of a convoluted title, but watched the Bradley Cooper/Lady GaGa film the other night. Although not the greatest performance (but pretty good for an actor), I did like the style of music that Bradley Cooper was playing - a sort of heavy Country tinged Rock/Blues. I thought of Chris Stapleton - but that's too Country. The nearest I have found is a bit older, and not as heavy in Delbert Mc Clinton. Can anyone recommend anything similar - riff based, but with a bit more structure and more interesting songwriting than most of the Blues/Rock that I know. Thanks.
  6. Much like Thomann with Harley Benton, I can't imagine that Guitar Guitar will want to tarnish their reputation with a shoddy budget line, so I think it will be a good buy. Let us all know once you have given it the once over.
  7. Now that has spurred a good idea - Match of the Day Theme. May well get the attention of the football punters!
  8. That'll be a tonne then (now where's that pedant emoji...)
  9. I think they had to move to appointment only after a fairly substantial theft 😟 What's their bass stock like now - they always had a great reputation for guitars, but limited stock for us low enders?
  10. I think there's a typo in your thread title...
  11. Great story, great bass. And five string fretless at 11, I'm seriously impressed.
  12. Just opened the picture - when I first replied it looked like a soapbar in the J position. I can now see it is a J sitting in a route. So yes, going with the above, an early 00 GB series. Decent bass.
  13. Cort make many basses that never make it to their official list, however, this combo of pickups and control plate does look unusual. As @Baloney Balderdashsays, they make great basses. They also offer great value as they don't hold their prices, so could be a great, inexpensive bass to have some fun with.
  14. They are saying they can't access, not that there is nobody there to accept delivery. Could it be that the farm is inaccessible due to the state of the track, especially with the weather we've been having. And bear in mind some Evri deliveries are by owner drivers in family cars.
  15. Waiting in Vain, Turn Your Lights Down Low, Three Little Birds. The fact that they are preceded by Exodus and Jammin', and followed by One Love/People Get Ready puts this Bob Marley album right up there along with Marvin Gaye's What's Going On.
  16. This. Also, I think that guitarists tend to be the ones that follow their influences closest.
  17. Always nice to have a spare but I voted to keep the Genz, as if you really need to, you can replace the EBS with a new one.
  18. I knew his trombonist. Tried to sign him when he was running his band Microgroove. Think he did as well as Django...
  19. Thanks @BassTractorfor the great response. Off to listen to some Pianet recordings now. Could be my new favourite sound!
  20. I hoped you might contribute, thanks. Yes, I was thinking it was a blend, but know very little about what keyboards can do. There's a 'sweeter' tone in there that the Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes don't have on their own.
  21. OK, I can see from the video that the guy is using a Korg, probably an SV2, but what do the keyboard experts think it is emulating (if indeed it is)? Sounds to my ears a bit like Fender Rhodes with some vibraphone dialled in! Whatever it is sounds great to me ears!
  22. What Andy says. There are very few bass specialists around, and it looks like you have quite a valuable collection there, especially with two Wals.
  23. There are plenty of ways of helping the NHS budget before taking away from an event that brings joy to hundreds of thousands of people. Sorting out the PFI interest payments and stopping super rich tax avoidance are just two.
  24. Care to explain how the two are related?
