Does anyone remember "The Revolutionary Blues Band" ?
Mykesbass replied to Coilte's topic in General Discussion
Now that is a great thread resurrection! Great persistence @Coilte -
Hi David, If you haven't already seen it, there was an In Memorium posted with some lovely comments from members who knew your dad (sadly I never made his acquaintance). Take care of falling foul of the Marketplace rules on here - they have been put in place mainly to stop scammers, and to help fund the site. I'm tagging @Rich who is one of the moderators who can hopefully advise you before posting anything that will breach these rules. Sorry for your loss, and best wishes for the task in hand.

I reckon the Easy Star Allstars could nail it 😎

I like the idea, but I think it's the tempo that doesn't work for me. The original has a fabulous laid back vibe, this is a little bit rushed.

Not sure if I like this interpretation but I think it's worth sharing on here. Make up your own minds 😎

What's the next collectable on the second hand marketthen?

Sue Ryder P Bass anyone... -
A great first get together with the Americana band. Excellent songs, great guitarist and top attitude. Been invited back, so a fabulous restart after a long hiatus. Now on to the Blues band...after I sort the blister 🫤

Made the call today to the guy from work - I'm going for both bands. Wish me luck!

You have nothing to sell. The band is going to be very different both in sound, look, personality with every new member. 'Selling' what remains of the previous iteration is moot.

I think the Americana band is aiming at being 'selective' in its gigging. Will have a better idea after I meet up with them on Sunday.

Having been musically inactive since lockdown (partly due to knowing I would be moving), I've got a try out with an Country/Americana originals band on Sunday, and now a mate at my new work has asked me if I would like to do some really interesting Blues. Why was the timing so bad, or can I fit both in 🤔

Do you multiple cabs from the same company, what do you have & why?

A matching pair of Purple Chilli 112s. Absolutely love them. Had one, couldn't get a second so sold it. Shortly after, a pair came up for sale and I just had to have them. They sound wonderful (slightly warm and vintage to my ears) and are nice and light. They are possibly a little bulky by today's standard, but I'll live with that. Shame Mike doesn't make them anymore - too busy making his fabulous Zoot bases? -
G&L is an interesting case. Always been a bit of a niche brand, and a couple of years back there was a massive retail sell off of Tribute models, which has probably had an effect on their perceived value. Glad I'm hanging on to mine.

Some sick J bass on this tune... is it real?
Mykesbass replied to EJWW's topic in General Discussion
Just looking at the album credits on Wikipedia and it looks like it is all programming and producers. -
Wow, that jack socket is, err.... But yes, can see how enjoyable such a bass could be.

Another band with the same name?
Mykesbass replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Or was a fan of the 1966 UK band by the same name. -
Stepping up my search for a band - Facebook help sought

Thanks @tauzero -
Nothing secret, but I love the whole 12" version of Donna Summer's McArthur Park Suite. Also like The Carpenters, Bacharach and David and First Aid Kit.

Following a move to the midlands and a couple of months looking at JMB and Bandmix I'm feeling I need to go back on the dreaded Facebook. Shortly after leaving that platform I saw a thread on here and there was some advice about how to tame the ads and spam on there - various browser plugins and settings. Could anyone who contributed please direct me to the old thread? Thanks.

Had this at a large venue in Hackney where I was meeting the band before they went on (record company days). We went around in circles for ages until we finally got to where they were, but we're still blocked by a bi-folding door. We all managed to somehow squeeze through a very tight gap - not the best entrance when you're hoping to impress a band you want to sign 😎
