2.
Your Wal is beautiful, unusual that you've got a gloss finish though isn't it.
Thanks. Yes it is quite unusual, although certainly not unique. Pete was concerned that the naturally brittle nature of the spalted maple would make it liable to crack if left with the usual poly finish, so we glossed it.
 3.
I think I prefer the 1st one too.
I'm a sucker for spalted wood as well
 4. Nice. I assume you've played a Kingbass. I know a few people who love them, but also a few who found the ergonomics all wrong.
 5.
I'm very interested - I seem to remember seeing you were bringing them along to the bash in Guildford, is this still the case?
Indeed it is.
 6. Can anyone recommend a good source for heavy duty casters for a speaker cab?
 7.
Sounds fantastic! And 24 frets on an ABG!
Actually, only 21!
 8.
Stunning bass! How wide is it at the nut?
The neck and string spacing mirrors my Ken Smith bass, which is really comfortable. So the measurements are: String Spacing: 9mm at the nut, 18mm at the bridge Fingerboard Width: 1 3/4" at the nut, 3" at the 24th Fret And thanks for the compliments guys, I have to admit the bass has surpassed my expectations. It's beautifully put together and sounds amazing.
 9. The Otter has landed, safe and sound, and perfectly in tune! And wow, what a stunning bass. I am so happy with it. It's just the most beautiful thing. They carved the neck perfectly, the string spacing is right on, and the b string is very strong. The tone across the bass is wonderful and chords really ring out. The combination of woods is really classy, and I love the headstock. Sublime. I'll try and get some pictures later.
 10.
Ooooerrr...sorry to hear that. Hope it arrives safe and sound!
Thanks. Must admit I am a bit worried about such a delicate instrument being stuck with the courier so long.
 11.
And the verdict is ????
That I am p****d off with Business Post, who "forgot" to pick it up from Brook on Thursday night!
 12.
Have a bump. I have two Epifani UL112's and they cover pretty much every gig I come across as a full time player. The PS112's have pretty much the same spec's in terms of volume, spl's etc. At that price they're an absolute bargain.
Thanks Gareth... and a bump.
 13.
I added it then thought I may keep it, so took it off.. 6x10 is still up for grabs though
OK, no worries. The 6x10 doesn't interest me but thanks for letting me know.
 14.
Added my 1516BE to the sale. Whichever one doesn't sell I'll keep...
Still for sale?
 15. Early Nick Heyward, especially "Take that Situation", "Whistle Down the Wind" by Nick Heyward......... trust me on this. Also, Julia Fordham's earlier albums have great fretless playing on them. I think Pino is responsible for a lot of the above sessions. Gareth
 16.
I'm drooling at the wood grain. The couple of issues I've had with ABG's is that the examples I've tried can't compete with acoustic guitars for volume and they tend to lose a lot of sustain up the dusty end of the neck. How do you think your Brook instrument will measure up on these aspects?
We shall know tomorrow CK! This is the first 5 string Brook have made so they were actually more worried about the low B, which as I said above isn't such as issue for me, as this bass will, ironically, mainly be used plugged in. Speaking to Simon today he's really pleased with the bass. We went for a deeper body than they use for their 4 string ABGs, one of which I have played and was wonderful, but not by much. Apparently the bass has very good projection and shape to the notes, and is also very even around the fingerboard.
 17. Two 1x12 cabs from Epifani's "Performance Series", US made and from the first run of cabs. Epifani describe them as tuned for a more "classic" tone than the UL Series, they deliver thick lows with a musically crisp edge and I'd agree with that. They are small and light but sound big and handle a low B with ease.

12" 300 Watt Eminence Steel Magnet Driver
1" Compression Tweeter
17 Ply Baltic Birch Cabinet - dado joint construction
High impact locking corners
Steel reinforced "Comfort Feel" strap handle
1/4" phono & Speakon inputs
18 gauge radiused steel grill
Frequency Response: 45Hz - 16 KHz
Sensitivity 98db 1W1M
Dimensions: 16.5" H x 19.5" W x 16.5" D
Weight: 36lbs
Pricing them is difficult. They're £320 new in The Gallery, and mine are in very good condition and only lightly gigged. One has had the driver replaced with a 500 watt Eminence Delta LF replacement when the original failed recently and the blue "Performance" labels have come off, but otherwise they are in great shape. £500 for the pair has a nice ring to it. I won't ship them, so buyers will need to collect or I will meet you halfway if you are a distance aways.
 18. It's going to be with me tomorrow, and Simon has sent me a few pictures to whet my appetite! WOW!
 19. I've owned both and still own the PS600, as I found it gave me all I needed to gig with in the single channel. To my ears, they sound pretty much the same, and Bassplayer's review said the following (edited for brevity) about the PS600, which you may find interesting... I waxed unusually poetic when I reviewed Epifani’s UL-502 head and UL-502C combo in July ’05. The 502 was remarkably sweet sounding, with burnished and musical response grounded in swift power delivery. It was also laden with features that many bassists would find superfluous on the average gig, notably the dissimilar EQ in each of the preamp’s two-channels. That’s why Epifani dreamed up the less expensive PS-600. It’s basically a UL-502 stripped of the extra features, but blessed with the same preamp and Class D power amp. The PS-600 sounded quite similar to the UL-502. In fact, A/B-ing them made it difficult to tell the difference. Like the 502, the 600 was tinged with a golden midrange, plush-but-controlled lows, and a serene, lacy top. I never wanted for more power, and the transient response and grunt were excellent. The 600 was exceptionally pleasant sounding—it almost seemed as if the preamp filtered out harsh frequencies, leaving only buttery, smooth tone. The EQ, though limited, worked fine, but I barely touched it. If you’re a slapper who digs the scoopy thing, the mid-cut feature, with its variable level control, is for you. I tended to favor a flat tone. The 600 was clear and delicate sounding, but not wimpy. It may not be the ideal amp for gritty rock tone, but for everything else, its elegant and refined sound is among the best in bass. I guess if you change your sound on the fly a lot during a set, say between finger style and slap, and you want your amp to do the eq work for you, then the 502 is the better option. Cheers Gareth
 20.
A recent GAS attack, and a change of band, is causing me to rationalise my harem. On offer for £200 is a Washburn Electro-acoustic AB10 which was originally expertly defretted and sold to me by our very own Bass Chatter & luther, Paul_C. Pics to follow very shortly. Fab condition, complete with Thomastik strings ...great for sounding like a double bass when you want it to.
I'm very interested in this and would appreciate some pics as and when.
 21.
Epifani and Roqsolid spring to mind, but this has been a topic several times already.
I should have said these are the PS series cabs, so the regular Epi covers will not fit.
