1.
Hi Gareth, I am no expert on prices by any means but my gut feel is that you are undervaluing the neck and tuners. I am sure I have seen 66 necks go for a grand or more and the oval tuners are worth £2-300 in their own right. As I say not certain of these values but I think £900 is a very keen price and someone will get a bargain. Steve
Thanks Steve. I'll welcome any and all advice on these prices as this is a market I am not that familiar with (I'm used to selling complete instruments).
 2. Okay folks, following a bit of research and consultation with BC colleagues, prices for the genuine vintage parts are as follows:

neck + tuners £900 (I'd rather sell the neck as a complete unit)
bridge pickup £220
control plate (plate, pots, cap, knobs - modern jack socket but original included in sale) £150
neckplate and screws £100
neck pu cover (repro screws) £90
bridge and screws £80
thumbrest and screws £40
strap buttons and screws £25
Cheers Gareth
 3.
Can you post (or if you prefer, PM me) a list of prices that you'd let the parts go for? I'm interested to know the value of some of them and you might even get a few takers!
PM sent. A few expressions of interest already so I'll see how they go before posting full prices for all parts on here.
 4.
he also said Ashdown's high end stuff would always be made in england, which is nice, more than can be said for Ampeg eh!
Did Ampeg make stuff in England?
 5. Just to confirm this bass is now going to be broken up and sold in parts.
 6. That's a tough one guys, as such things are so subjective. I would say tension is medium-tight and feel is pretty good (not rough like some strings, not really smooth like others). Tone? Well that is down to your own ears, but to me I'd say they're quite bright and keep their tone for a long time.
 7.
You got rid of that?!? I don't think i'd be able to bring myself to do that.
It sounded lush, but I simply wasn't using it enough to justify it...
 8. This was mine, but I simply wasn't using it enough to justify the expense.... Sounded lovely though...

 10.
Really need the money, so it looks like this bass will be broken up and the parts sold on eBay...
Unless anyone wants to buy any of the parts through this forum?
 11. Mk II 5 strings were often notoriously heavy. How much does that bad boy weigh?
 12.
Check out the Epifani PS600, it's the same spec as the 502 but it's single channel, cheap and viable to import with their switchable voltage as well
I have one. Excellent bit of kit. Using it with two of the Epifani PS 1x12 cabs I have a rig that is small, portable, light and LOUD. It also sounds lovely too.

 14.
Right... I used her at a gig last night.
Once you've decided to sell a bass, best left in the case in my experience...
 15. Ahh, Linda Ronstadt... "Hasten down the Wind" was one of my favourite albums as a pubescent young man in the late 1970s. Looking at the cover I can't imagine why Cheers Gareth
 16. Some genuine interest in the bass from a few folk but nothing definite yet, so a gentle bump...
 17. Incredible price for a bass of this vintage. If I was a 6 player I'd take it as it'd make a lovely stablemate for my 1994 Smith 5, but sadly I'm not.
 18.
Removing the ramp would leave more than just four holes. The centre was routed to fit it same as you would fit pups. Its mounted on a piece of foam, is completely adjustable to suite various playing styles and can be retracted into the bass if needs be. And it adds to the overall aesthetic of the bass I think
Thanks for clarifying that for me. Sadly, to me it makes the bass less appealing (and this from a guy who usually has no problem with ramps), but vive la difference eh! I love Chris' work. Very singular designs but really well put together. I hope you get what you want for it.
 19. Would I be right in thinking that removing the ramp would leave four holes in the body?
 20. I have been surfing the internet too long. I can tell the fretted bass came from Electromusic and the fretless from BassNW just from the pics! I'll get me coat... PS Nice basses.
 21. Why not get the SWR Grand Prix pre in the for sale section. Absolutely top notch bit of kit.
 22. This bass is now sold.
