1.
Have you tried the Carvin flats? Made by La Bella but cheaper than La Bella branded ones and in very basic packaging. I hear a friendly UK retailer is about to offer a really good discount on them for all Basschatters (PM me for details).
I'll be wanting a set Barrie.
2.
I fancy one of those para EQs, but its a bit massive.
it's not that big, and it works so well! I don't think you'd ever need any more tone shaping that this thing is capable of.
3.
Nice, how you finding the fuzz?
It's good. Probably more than I need tbh, but as long as I keep the gain below 9 o'clock I get just the right amount of grit that I like
4. Hi Nik If under 40lb is light enough, and you'd like a mint one of these with Roqsolid cover, give me a shout. Great stand alone cab and goes loud. I have two and one is more than enough. Cheers Gareth
5. Hi Nik The best passive 5 string bass Fender ever made, no doubt. I had one and the B string was amazing. I'd buy it if I could justify it, but whoever gets it will end up with a tone monster! Cheers Gareth
6. Here's the CTM30!
7.
It also comes with a set of four Brimar CV4005 NOS power valves complete with the necessary adaptors that the guy who sold it to me included as possible alternatives to the power valves in it. I haven't tried them.
I'I miss mine so am quite tempted, but what's the deal with these Brimars? Do you have any more information about whether the previous owner used them, and why he didn't just stick with the EL84s?
8. Pretty sure I did a quick chord chart for this a while back. Will check when I get home tonight.
9. Brand new and boxed, just a little more distortion available than I need! £149 new in the UK, yours for £129 posted 2nd Class Recorded. No trades thanks.
10.
Lol ok thanks. Yeah, I sold mine, but could do with one again.
I can only just everything on the Mini I bought instead... new I should'nt have added a Fuzz pedal!
11.
Gareth do you want to sell me your nano?
Already sold it on to Tayste, sorry.
12. Yeah baby!
13. I am tempted to get one of these as a back up as well. Will be interested to hear your thoughts.....
14.
Dibs for when this one is also too small
15. I think the first option should always be to contact the seller. In my dealings with him, Mark has always come across as a decent guy, and I am sure he'll do what he can to get it sorted.
16. I believe the Sale of Goods Act applies for used items as well as new?
17. Have you voiced your concerns to Mark? Sounds like a warranty return to me....
18. Morning all Anyone spotted one in stock anywhere? I bought a Nano but it's too small! Cheers Gareth
19.
I tried a TTE500 today, and whilst I can see what people mean about it being a convincing valve emulator, it does not have the bounce. And, actually i didn't like it that much either. The compressor was good, but overall it just didn't have the weight.
Mine came alive when I dropped some old Mullards in it - much warmer and fatter tone, yet without any boominess.
20.
If you want an all-valve sound without the weight, try to find a Warwick Quadruplet preamp. This has a tiny valve power amp and output transformer running a dummy load, and then a low current signal is taken from that to the preamp's output. They did heads too, which used the same preamp and then had a powerful solidstate power stage. I think there are some other designs like this but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
SWR Interstellar Overdrive? To the OP, depending on geography, you are welcome to come and try my Markbass TTE500 if you like.
21. This is a beautiful bass.
22. I have three of the Tremolo model, which I stuck with after trying out loads of different picks. Before that I used the medium pointed Ultra Lites. They do stick to the fingers well, especially when it gets hot and sweaty. As you'd expect, the thickness of the pick you use has considerable impact on the depth of tone created.
23. Bit of a longer chat with Dan at Empress just now, giving him some more detail, and he says 9V should be just fine for my needs.
24. Thanks for that, but yowzah that's an expensive solution. I think I'll just buy a dedicated 24V PSU for the Empress and have done with it. Any recommendations for a PSU rated at 24V (130mA)?
