1. Hi Dave
OK Gareth. BTW we are The Wheatsheaf in Alton on the 16th. I could stick it in the car with my rig if that helps.
Thank you very much! And I shall pop down on the 16th for sure...
2. Assuming it's still around, could I give this a run out at a (large venue) gig I have coming up othe 23rd Dave? It may well be a very nice one cab solution for me
3. Richter Supreme.... job done
4. To quote Sheryl Crow. "If it makes you happy....."
5. What an incredible deal! These 550 heads sound brilliant!
6. All lovely basses from a totally trustworthy seller. I'd have the JC back in a flash if I had the readies
7. Hi all I just got these, but have decided not to fit them after all. They are chrome/satin finish. All the details are here. Cheapest I was quoted for a set of four in the UK was £104. You can have a set of four for £85, or buy all eight for £160. Thanks Gareth
8. I use one or two Markbass NY151RJ cabs depending on the size of the venue. I would prefer to move to a two 1x12 setup.
9.
I can see that all the band's hard work to keep up to date with song choices looks in jeapardy, and I'm pretty unhappy about that.
What do your band mates think? It sounds like you have taken a conscious decision to keep your material up to date. While there may be a place for some of the tracks he wants to play, in an expanded repertoire, it seems out of order for him to come in and start dictating terms. There are other singers out there.... if it doesn't feel right call his bluff, as a united band, and say no.
10. The C4 will be more aggressive sounding than the 6B, so probably the best bet for you
11. I sold Tony a strap. It was a simple and low cost transaction, but all went very smoothly and I would happily deal with him again.
12.
Wonder what cab would suit it
A 4ohm 2 x15?
13.
Thanks for that Gareth, sounds good! Did you have the neck pup soloed? Have you got flats on it?
Yes, neck pickup solo with just a hint of bass boost, and the bass is wearing Lakland flats.
14.
Very nice! I really should get round to posting some pics of my new KT5 on this thread! Did you ever do the video?
Thanks. No I didn't do a review yet, but to keep everyone amused I just knocked this up. Filmed using an HTC Flyer tablet, with the bass running through the Peavey practice amp my son uses for electric drums. It doesn't sound the greatest, but at least you get the idea. 15. At home today, so snapped some pictures of my VT5
16. As it was...

And as it is now, in more austere times ....
17. Hi Marc What did you think of it? I have always wanted to compare this to the Bassbone I have. Cheers Gareth
18. Quick update. I played the bass last night and again this morning, trying all sorts of pickup balance and tone setting variations. No problems at all I can only assume it was the venue, most likely the induction loop. Thanks for all the help Gareth PS Totally agree about squealing piezo as a band name!
19.
Sounds great. Remember to post some pics when it arrives!
Oh I will
20.
Did I see somewhere you're in discussion with Paul for another Wal??
Yep, using some chestnut from the garden in my Mum and Dad's old house.
21. These are superb basses. In my opinion they nail the upright tone. I absolutely love mine, although I have been mulling over selling it to get the 4 string version
22. Very nice example of a classic amp. I had one of these as my first "proper" amp. Great amp, great seller, what's not to like?
23.
Hard to be sure, but I once got that kind of sound coming from my Overwater - one of the really good ones! I was a bit freaked to start with, but then had a thought as such a problem had never occurred before.. I asked if there was one of those induction loop thingies for hearing aid wearers. Turned out there was, and as soon as that was turned off (not actually needed anyway, they switched it on in that hall as a matter of course) all was fine. Never had a re-occurence. Does your gear sound as expected again today? If so, I'd suspect the venue!
Ah, the venue did have an induction loop...
24.
Sounds like a piezo element is failing? Is it happening on one /pair of strings more than the others? From my experiences piezos usually tell you they're giving up either by humming or squeaking, never in an attractive way. Worth looking for iffy solder connections or stressed wires (esp where they join the piezo element) but I'd get in contact with the maker - they're very likely to recognise the symptoms.
Thanks D. Haven't had a chance to give it a good going over today so no closer to a diagnosis. I have an email in to Veillette, so I am sure they'll come back to me with a reply tomorrow.
