    So, there's definitely something up with my bass, as every now and then it emits a strange squeal. Previous diagnosis here on BC has suggested a failing piezo element (still possible) and an induction loop in the venue (not possible!), but I want to get it sorted. I'll have someone try and sort it first, but if no joy is to be found, can anyone recommend a preamp setup that will allow me to combine a magnetic and piezo pickup, on a volume, blend and tone three pot setup?     That's my old bass (I think I had it third hand). It's a really good player, and the Hipshot bridge (added by me) really beefs it up. Very good basses.

    I'm just down the road in Alton and I have to say I'm really tempted. This would sound amazing with my Bergantino CN212! I'm guessing it looks like this?

    I have two of these, one that my Sandberg came in (so perfect for P or J bass sizes) and another that's slightly smaller but should still fit a bass. Collection from WC2 only.

    My son is 10 and just completed Grade 4 on drums after 18 months playing.... he's a natural! The point of my post though, is that we started him off on an Alesis [url="http://www.alesis.com/dm6usbkit"]DM6[/url] electronic kit (which will be for sale soon), but he now uses [url="http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/drums/arbiter-flats-lite-kit-26825"]"flats"[/url] as a compromise between a full acoustic kit and the need to preserve some space. I must say it sounds very good and is surprisingly loud for what it is. Cheers Gareth

    I'm pretty sure the Sandberg preamps are made by Glockenklang too. The pre in my VT5 is vol/pan/treble/bass when active, but pull the vol pot up and it goes into passive with the treble pot becoming a passive tone. They also do a [url="http://www.musicstore.com/en_EN/EUR/Sandberg--3-Band-EQ-/art-BAS0004224-000"]3 band[/url] version. However, I'd agree with Jack that an East pre is going to give you all the bells and whistles you could want, and funnily enough I'd been thinking of dropping the same in my Sandberg to make it even more versatile. Great preamps and great service from East.

    If it's a trashy bass, simply get the frets pulled, have the 'board sanded level, and fit grounds or flats. Job done at minimal expense

    I'm sure there is plenty of interest and these are, as you say, fantastic preamps. I suspect the problem is that there's just not a lot of spare cash floating around at the moment...

    Yeah, liking that a lot. Decent tort pattern too, and the "Offset Contour Body" decal in the right place! I see the auction is ended.... did you get it?

    I used a Squier Matt Freeman P bass for a while a couple of years ago. It was a terrific bass, lighweight, good balance, and wonderful tone.
