1. Thanks guys. I'm looking to replace the whole EQ system so I'll need to source a new piezo too!
2. So, there's definitely something up with my bass, as every now and then it emits a strange squeal. Previous diagnosis here on BC has suggested a failing piezo element (still possible) and an induction loop in the venue (not possible!), but I want to get it sorted. I'll have someone try and sort it first, but if no joy is to be found, can anyone recommend a preamp setup that will allow me to combine a magnetic and piezo pickup, on a volume, blend and tone three pot setup? Cheers Gareth
3. With a new Wal incoming next Spring I need to make some space, so here's 9.5lbs on German PJ bass love.

swamp ash body
maple neck
34" scale
delano pickups
two band active eq with passive option when you pull up the volume knob (treble control becomes a passive tone control)
rosewood fingerboard with optional front dots
lakland flats (original Sandberg strings will also be supplied)
This really is a great bass, and I'd love to keep it, but I can't justify it as well as the Wal. New, this would cost £1700 new. It's a touch less than a year old and comes with the original Sandberg gig bag (one tear to the inner lining). Shipped anywhere in the UK for £[s]1200[/s]1150. 4. That's my old bass (I think I had it third hand). It's a really good player, and the Hipshot bridge (added by me) really beefs it up. Very good basses.
5. I'm just down the road in Alton and I have to say I'm really tempted. This would sound amazing with my Bergantino CN212! I'm guessing it looks like this?
6. I have two of these, one that my Sandberg came in (so perfect for P or J bass sizes) and another that's slightly smaller but should still fit a bass. Collection from WC2 only.
7. My son is 10 and just completed Grade 4 on drums after 18 months playing.... he's a natural! The point of my post though, is that we started him off on an Alesis DM6 electronic kit (which will be for sale soon), but he now uses "flats" as a compromise between a full acoustic kit and the need to preserve some space. I must say it sounds very good and is surprisingly loud for what it is. Cheers Gareth
8. I'm pretty sure the Sandberg preamps are made by Glockenklang too. The pre in my VT5 is vol/pan/treble/bass when active, but pull the vol pot up and it goes into passive with the treble pot becoming a passive tone. They also do a 3 band version. However, I'd agree with Jack that an East pre is going to give you all the bells and whistles you could want, and funnily enough I'd been thinking of dropping the same in my Sandberg to make it even more versatile. Great preamps and great service from East.
9.
Compound radius eh? That's not something you see every day. Would that be flatter by the nut or up at the dusty end?
Dusty end I hope!
10. If it's a trashy bass, simply get the frets pulled, have the 'board sanded level, and fit grounds or flats. Job done at minimal expense
11. Just remember I asked first
12. If it helps, I'll buy one of your HDs if you do decide to sell
13. I'm sure there is plenty of interest and these are, as you say, fantastic preamps. I suspect the problem is that there's just not a lot of spare cash floating around at the moment...
14. I'd say that's a good price with a refin and changed pots. Where are you located?
15. I'm amazed this is still here. It's a seriously good rig for the price.
16. Yeah, liking that a lot. Decent tort pattern too, and the "Offset Contour Body" decal in the right place! I see the auction is ended.... did you get it?
17. I used a Squier Matt Freeman P bass for a while a couple of years ago. It was a terrific bass, lighweight, good balance, and wonderful tone.
18. Yep, it's pronounced "Wol"
19.
That's very exciting Gareth and I guess goes some way to explaining why I can't tempt you with another of Joe's exotic creations :-)
Hi Phil Believe me, I would love to have another Veillette... or two .... but this bass is special as it's a sort of 50th birthday present and tribute to my Dad combined, funded by my Mum and Mrs Walbassist. Cheers Gareth PS 50th Birthday not until 2016, but bass is ahead of schedule!
20. Hi guys The bass has been in "the book" for some time. It's going to be pretty special as the facings are from a chestnut tree that came down in my Mum and (late) Dad's garden in 2010. The wood has been resting at Paul's since then, was split in February this year, and finally cut down to body blanks last week. As I said, Mk I fretted, standard hardware. Might go for an ebony board though, and possibly a lighter body core wood. It'll be good to have a Wal back in the fold and legitimately call myself "Walbassist" again. Cheers all Gareth
21. Just had an email from Paul that my new Wal will be ready in the Spring! Mk 1 fretted 4, if anyone's interested Excited!
22. I'm no electrician, but sparks and burning smells are not good whatever the situation, so I would get it checked out. I'd drop ashdown an email too. They are usually really fast to reply and should be able to let you know what damage, if any, has happened. Best of luck Gareth
