1. Sold a cab to Alan. An absolute pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to tranasct with him again.
2. American Standard, yes, with either rosewood or maple board Standard, no.
3. Hi Nik Happy New Year to you too! Yes, this thread is getting a bit long now! I have the following 12AX7 (ECC83) available: 3 x Mullard white shield label. GB made. Two have the same date codes (I63-B5K1 - from 1965) @ £40 each 1x vintage Brimar @ £20.00 Cheers Gareth
4. I have an unused, still in box, set of these available if anyone is interested. £15 posted.
5. Lovely heads, these. Half tempted to sell my Tonehammer and buy this one!
6. The Bergantino NV115 gets a lot of love on Talkbass, but at 50lbs-odd it isn't lightweight by today's standards. Worth a try though?
7. Brand new 1 spot power supply for pedals, plus MC5 daisy chain. £23 posted in the UK.
8.
Just to confirm, I don't have crackly pots, it's just the amp sounds like crackly pots are being turned whilst it's warming up. With gain and master maxed, the noise it creates is unbearably loud, even with no bass plugged in. Hardly any with gain set to minimum though, which is where it sounds best. I may well pop back to the shop tomorrow to try their one out again!
Definitely doesn't sound right. Take it back.
9. How about a fretless version of your fretted Warwick?
10.
I believe walbassist got to play with the CTM 15 quite a lot so he may be an authority on this little amp
Hi guys Here's my tuppence worth. 1. I didn't notice any crackling pots on my head. 2. Mine wasn't hissy at all with the gain knob fully ccw, but it did increase as you turned the gain up. Not so much to be unpleasant though. 3. I loved the tone with the gain knbob fully ccw, but the moment it was turned up the tone seemed to change quite dramatically. As you say, it becomes much more upper-mid and treble orientated. I guess that's just the way it is. 4. Not sure about swapping out the EL84s for something else, certainly no idea about re-biasing. I tried a set of JJs in mine (12AX7 and 5751s in the pre, EL84s for the power) and they sounded good, but certainly didn't change the core tone to any extent. Cheers Gareth
11.
Any side dots for us numpties Gareth?
Yep
12. Dropped to £150 posted

14. I'd have thought Aguilar Tonehammer 500 or GB Streamliner 900 would do the job.
15. Sandberg would be my choice. Superb basses and you can pretty much order any configuration you want.

Merton

Sold my Ashdown CTM to Mert. Excellent comms and paid up front. A pleasure to deal with, and a credit to Basschat
17. This would make a perfect home for the two Tony Franklins I'm buying next week! What are the external dimensions?
18. Lovely heads these. Great core tone, a decent tone stack and all that glorious valve tone. I miss mine
