  1. 1997 Thumb with MECs and 3 band eq. Not keen on the 3 band eq as the treble control @8khz is ineffective as I have this frequency cut on my amp. The 2 band set at 2khz is more usable for me. I am also thinking of taking one battery out as the output is too hot compared to my earlier 1990 9v Thumb which is more comparable to a passive bass output.
  2. In the 18v Thumb that I have, although the two 9v batteries are in series the active pickups run from a centre tap so they only get 9v.

  4. I started playing on a borrowed bass before I bought my own which was an Antoria EB3 copy before being able to afford the real thing. There is something about that small body shape that gets me. I still have an early '60s Gibson EB3 which is the worse for wear but my go to now is an Epiphone Elite EB3. I have fitted an original mudbucker, a Babicz bridge and swapped the tone caps for parallel inverse diodes. Using LaBella 40 - 100 roundwounds it plays like a dream.
  5. If you shout loud enough into the speaker can you put electricity back into the grid?
  6. Was the Bouree.pdf I sent of any use?

I would like to see a cherry Rivoli II.
  8. Have you thought about painting the wall like a shadow board so you know where each one belongs and more importantly spot if one is missing?
  9. I think I am on drugs when I listen to this one... ...love it though.
  10. At the moment BV1001T £208.80 (2 in stock) and BV1001M £170.42 (1 in stock).
  11. Could it be that they have another bass player but are just giving you the opportunity to still do the last gig that you were booked for.
  12. But are they any good for Metal?
  13. A bit of rough stone. The striking edge of a matchbox. A nail file from girlfriends bag.
  14. Where is the green and red/yellow wire going?
  15. This has reminded me of the cracked skin on my hands when working on construction sites in the '60s when this was what most workers used... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Optima-GSL-30300200A-SNOWFIRE-Ointment/dp/B001RYOOPA
  16. Not a Jaco fan but I did like his playing on Ian Hunters album of which this is the title track...
  17. Wrongly. Never remove the protective earth connection, the chances are it could end up being used on some faulty equipment.
  18. One to argue that tungsten watts are brighter than led watts?
  19. I've just changed the PP3 in my go-to Warwick only 'cause I had some new ones and I had put the date on when installed, it was July 2015 and it was still tasting salty. It'll find a use in something else.
  20. The pivot hole being so near the edge, the roll pin being an interference fit and the pressure of that big spring does not a good design make.
  21. After my estate car biting the dust last year and only having an MX5 with the passenger seat removed to fit a small cab in I miss having this behind me. I do a dep job with a band with a van occasionally so it gets the cobwebs blown off.
  22. Have you got someone else's teeth in?
  23. Agree, if I stand 50 feet away from my cab it does not sound as loud as standing next to it.
