Ok, I squirted some Deoxit in, gave the knob a few turns (quiet at the back) and it appears to have done the trick.
I did check before doing it that the noise was there, and it has now gone.
Thanks for that. I thought something was different when taking them out but didn't mentally note it. I would have bugerad them had you not mentioned it.
I'll go and give that a go myself while I'm in the mood, I've recently bought a can of Deoxit.
Did the pot have any access holes to spray into, a lot seem to be completely sealed now?
I may have been one of the early ones to mention hearing this 'crackle' on the master volume.
I still have it. It has not got any worse. It only does it when adjusting it with a signal into it.
It seems to be more of 'that's the way it works' on this amp, than a dirty pot.
Does anybody not get it?
I don't like the sound of my nails clicking the strings, sounds like playing with a tweeter on. I have gone as far as rubbing my nails on the brick wall outside the venue to eradicate that sound.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee There is a 1 hour phone in/discussion program with an 'expert' about Tinnitus tonight on LBC UK. starting at midnight. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Epi cover on an Artec pickup... Edit to add - the bar with the pole-pieces can easily be swapped over.
I painted a spare Epi cover black for my Elitist EB3....
I never had much success with mine. Came with the magnets in the wrong orientation... slightly wider string spacing... although it had the same dc resistance as a Gibson mudbucker it did not have that sound.
Update.
A couple of weeks back I helped someone on TB in regards to removing the circuit board from this amp as he wanted to change the input jack socket. It had me thinking that mine is 20 years old and a new socket would not go amiss and I would give the board a fresh look at finding the fault.
On removing the old jack socket I noticed this....
I have used it since at an outside event and it performed flawlessly.
