  1. No. The type you need is this... I bought half a dozen from China for around a fiver. I'll check my mail to see if I can find where from. Edit - Have you checked for loose connections elsewhere... speaker jack, speaker connections?
  2. I've heard 'Sunshine Of Your Love' in a recent advert but it took my attention away from what was being advertised.
  3. Replacing the input jack socket completely solved my problem. The headphone jack is fed from the same power amp output as the speaker jack but also contains a switch that disconnects the speaker jack. I would try some Deoxit sprayed in the headphone jack and insert a plug several times to try and clean the switch contacts, and check it for any cracks like I found on mine.
  4. Logging on this morning I find all the posts over circa 15 hours old have been marked as read, I never use the 'mark site read' button. I still have many threads to catch up on and now don't know where I am up to. Why has this happened?
  5. Another one given the Van Morrison treatment.
  6. I was meaning more along the lines of when corrected it still never sounded like a Gibson mudbucker. The orientation does need to be correct If I remember correctly the 4 magnets have a white mark along the edge. These all want to be facing away from each other or all on the steel plate. Forget about 'like poles repel, unlike poles attract', the steel plate wants only one (the same) polarity on it from all 4 magnets.
  7. The Artec pickup I tried was no different than the Epi pickup, both a far cry in depth and output from an original Gibson humbucker. There must be more to it than the 30kΩ resistance. The magnets in the Artec were in the wrong orientation on my pickup but correcting them made no difference.
  8. Strange pricing, 5 red knobs £4.59, 10 red knobs £4.49.
  9. I give in, what is FSO?
  10. £3.00 per hour here Vulcan Studios.
  11. She has the ability to change bass mid song without dropping a note.
  12. Solderless Jack like these on Ali Express or eBay
  13. I played there a lot over the years with a band called Free'd and up until lockdown used to do a jam/open mic night.
  14. It's never been used as a speaker cable. I am using Neutrik (not REAN) jack plugs. My speaker cables are 2x2.5 mm² with Speakons.
  15. How long should we expect cable to last. I had some crackle/intermittent sound and traced it to around the jack plug. Thinking one of the solder joints may have failed I checked it and all was good, but knowing there was a problem in that area I cut the lead back about 6 inches and stripped the sheath and found this.... The copper screen was gooey and discoloured just in that area. It was not even where the compression grip is, that is more in the body of the plug casing. Any ideas what would cause this. Does cable just deteriorate. Possibly about 12 years old, not abused, always neatly coiled and stored, can still see the make all along the cable, Lynx Audio. I made the leads myself.
  16. This was the cause of crackling in one of my amps...
  17. This year is really dragging, can't wait for it to end.

    1. TheGreek

      TheGreek

      Only 362 to go..

  18. Haven't been to the Swinging arm since before the pandemic, will have to try and get out again sometime.
  19. Is this the board, does it just come off those two clips, what is on the other side, does the knob need to be pulled off first?
  20. Had it since Feb 2019 so I don't think this would matter now.
  21. Ok, I squirted some Deoxit in, gave the knob a few turns (quiet at the back) and it appears to have done the trick. I did check before doing it that the noise was there, and it has now gone.
  22. Thanks for that. I thought something was different when taking them out but didn't mentally note it. I would have bugerad them had you not mentioned it.
  23. Just brought my can of Deoxit in from the garage and waiting for it to reach room temperature. I'll report back later.
  24. Hmm, where do I spray? If If I were to release those those two latches would the pcb come away with the exposed pot on it?
