A few discussions on the subject from yesteryears: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/253618-pickup-ramps-whats-the-point/#comment-2661942 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/346213-bass-ramps/#comment-3802029 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/187374-ramps-anyone-use-them-on-their-bass/#comment-1810964

  16. Is there much to be gained from retaining the tone pot and effectively using the varitone circuit in place of the usual 47/50nF tone capacitor? Also I've read in a few places that the inductor (as used on the original Gibbo circuit) is of no/minimal benefit if used with bass, is this the case?

Is it any good for metal?
  18. Oh yes, I remember you recounting that tale. That was quite an instrument.
  19. I'm really really tempted by the Hardly Bent Powerplant Powerbank, the lightweight rechargeable thingy. It'd fit beautifully on my board and would supply all the power I need and more. @roceci seemed to be very pleased with it in this thread, is it still going strong 3 years down the line?
  20. I recall reading a Neil Peart interview many years ago in which he said that Phil Gould was one of his favourite drummers.

  22. I understand that the Sire P series (P-J) basses have the same thinner neck profile as their V series (Jazz) siblings. The P10s are lovely, properly high-end instruments. https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/sire/sire-p-series-basses/p10-basses
  23. If really like your Ray and you're ok with the nut width but it's the profile you don't like, have you considered getting a luthier to shave a bit off the depth of the neck? I'd have thought it should be possible. Or even getting an entire new neck made?
  24. It's even worse when you see a bass you quite fancy, then one that you really fancy, then one that you really fancy, then you check your bank and it says "your balance is £hahahanochancemate.00"
