1. MacArthur Park, any version but especially Richard Harris'. "Someone left a cake out in the rain", for feck's sake. Unbelievably, this bloated nonsense came from Jimmy Webb, writer of the glorious Wichita Lineman and other genuine gems. I suppose everybody has an off-day.
 2.
sorry lads, thought people would realise my tongue was in my cheek by that point
My only excuse is that it was early and I was still BFCC (Before First Cup of Coffee).
 3.
must admit I don't understand this preoccupation with light weight heads, cabs yes, but heads no, I've got a 200 watt TE SMX head that weights 13Kg, easy one hand lift, even my missus can carry it, come on lads man up
I love macho posturing, it always makes me laugh.
 4.
Not hugely impressed. I was hoping for something much more substantial. The pedalboard looks good though.
I'm rather hoping that Trace will incorporate the pedalboard as the preamp for a lightweight amp head. In the absence of a mini-SMX, it could make a good alternative.
 5. I bought my 1980 Pro 2E secondhand in 1986 from Hamer's in Reading for £330.
 6. There's a good impedance thread here.
 7.
it seems that I have been lucky and/or Barefaced cabs are idiot proof

They pretty much are, for a given value of idiot!
There's an old saying: If you make it idiot-proof, someone will build a better idiot.
 8.
Wow - a bunch of musicians slagging off a musical product without having heard it or even seen the full specs, who'd have thought it?!
Personally I'm not slagging off the amp itself -- yes, it may well sound brilliant. It's the concept I'm so disappointed in.
For all anyone knows, these new offerings could contain everything they wanted from TE or have I missed the comments from the people that have heard them at the show? Though of course, they could just be what they look like.
Nobody's saying they sound crap. We haven't heard them. But yes it's what it looks like... insofar as one can see from a glance that none of the classic SMX features are there. Preshapes? Graphic? Eq balance? That superb 2 band compressor? FX loops? Nope. Just a 3-band shelve eq and an output jack. Not even so much as a speakon. Obviously it's unlikely theyd be able to fit all that lot into a 5lb micro, but it doesn't have to be that small. Just look how much Peavey shoehorned into the 1000 watt 9lb MiniMega head. A similar sized SMX would clean up.
 9. Very disappointing. Like a lot of you, what I really want to see is a lightweight small-package SMX with all its classic features. Doesn't have to be ultra teeny tiny, just sub-10lbs and around the 500w mark. A good take on this would see my Shuttle 6.0 up for sale and, I would suggest, could be something of a world-beater. Instead, we get yet another clone fag packet.
 10.
A friend of mine recently launched a 'semi-ironic, multi-media, poly-sensual event' where guests were invited to lie down in the road outside a launderette on Neasden High St and drink their own piss while listening to an 8-track tape of The Osmonds' Greatest Hits. Heartbreakingly, only four people turned up to support this fledgling enterprise.
Well no wonder it failed. The Osmonds? Pfft. Proper irony needs Slik, Milli Vanilli or the Goombay Dance Band at the very least.
 11.
Bearing in mind my EBS 2x12 used to belong to you {Kiwi}
And I own the other one of the two!
 12.
Livin` La Vida Loca - Ricky Martin
This is another one the punters love. And we go quite heavy on the ska element, so it's actually fun to play.
 13. If i hated a crowd, my set list would be: 1. Metal Machine Music, Parts 1 and 2. 2. 4'33" 3. Metal Machine Music, Part 3. 4. Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree. 5. Uruguayan national anthem, played at 1/2 speed. 6. Metal Machine Music, Part 4, twice.
 14.
Given that both buyer nd seller have now contributed to this thread I feel that there should be no further judicial comments posted. Both parties should be left to sort this out in a frindly, mature fasion. Not by this forum. The sale was generated innitially via ebay and concluded privately. Not via this forum. Thank you.
Many thanks to those who completely failed to heed this reasonable request.
 15. Gents, this thread seems to have turned into a massive bitchfest. As it stands, it's of no relevance to the OP whatsoever. So please, let's have some sensible discussion and advice without the playground tongue-poking or the near-defamatory slagging. Ok?
 16. Harry, I don't want to put temptation in your way, but you could always link your credit card to a paypal account...
 17. The Specials' eponymous first album. Once Around The World, It Bites. Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds. Scenes From A Memory, Dream Theater.
 18. Stop it, all of you. I tried a Portamento a while back, it was glorious and I have spent every moment since then telling myself that I don't need one. You're not helping.
 19. Part of the Dutch review (Google's translation, not mine): "Negative points: poor tuners Out-stinging fret ends creaking preamp Crude unfinished frets The neck needs a shim of at least 2 mm in order to achieve a reasonable action. plusses Excellent balance, sitting or standing. Fine paintwork on the body. After solving all the more points you have a fine bass playing, for me no problem, but, in a new instrument must not do. Too bad, a huge setback."
 20. Unlocked at seller's request.
Status Streamline 4 string for sale. There is one very small scuff on the underside rear of the neck which isn't visible when wearing the bass or front out front. I've highlighted this in one of the additional pictures that are available via the following link: http://s592.photobuc...e?sort=2&page=1
21. Am I reading this wrong, or is the burden still very much on the venue to mask their noise (at considerable or even, as often in the past, bankrupting cost), rather than on the developer to cater for it in his design/construction? The phrase "appropriate mitigation" is a bit ominous.
 22.
Love my Trace Elliot gear, the weight I can live with, but I really wish the power button was on the front instead of the back...
Yes, ditto this for my Genz Shuttle 6. I've got it rackmounted and the rear power switch is a monumental PITA. I love my Sire V7 but i really really wish it had one more fret. I will never understand why Leo designed the P and J with a range of E to Eb, or why so many others so slavishly copy this.
 23. It's a fair trade. I don't like Noel Gallagher music.
 24. I'm going to be 52 this year and I don't plan on giving up until it becomes physically impossible to play (and judging by the way the arthritis is attacking my knuckles, it might not be all that far away... ).
