There's a few manufacturers with names that are open to a range of different pronunciations. Here's a few with my interpretations, and I'd appreciate corrections if anyone has any. Wal - I used to think it rhymed with 'pal', but then I heard Pete the Fish rhyme it with 'doll' so I guessed that must be correct. Sei - I've heard it variously pronounced as 'say' and 'sigh'. I'm 90% sure it's the former, but I'm fully expecting to be 100% wrong. Lakland - from what I understand, it's 'lake-' rather than 'lack-'. Yes..? Maruszczyk - I'm reliably informed that it's 'maroosh-chick', I hope that's right because whenever anyone asks what make my gorgeous strap is, that's what I tell them. Knowing my luck it's probably pronounced 'eggbox' or something. Babicz - OK, definitely stumbling in the dark a bit here. I'm guessing at 'ba-bítch'..? Mayones - is it 'may-owns'? Or 'mayo-ness'? Sadowsky - I'm assuming 'sad-of-ski', yes? Anyone else got any other pispronounced worms?

My first decent amp had an 11-band graphic on it. It took about 5 years before I found out how to work it properly, and realised that pushing the low end faders up to +15 really wasn't a good thing at all.

These are from our Xmas gig last December... punter numbers down on previous years for obvious reasons but still a good enthusiastic crowd. Apologies for the bass fluffs, I could blame it on the fact that I usually play these songs on a 4 string but was having to use my V7 fiver, but that's no excuse for sloppy playing Suzanne Beware Of The Devil Suzanne Beware.mp4 Too Much Pressure Too Much Pressure.mp4

I think there's a big difference between value upgrades and preference upgrades. I've made a few changes to my Sire V7. I replaced the stock heavyweight tuners with Hipshots. This IMO is a value upgrade which would add a wee bit to the resale. I've also bought a replacement bridge that I will be fitting -- it's not a big flash Bada$$ or anything, but it's a quick change top-loader type which I prefer to the standard BBOT-esque affair. It won't necessarily add value, but it's a definite preference upgrade.

Touchdown, the gee-tar has landed.

Oh god, you crossed the streams. I'm amazed we're all still here.

Likewise, first snare hit.

It's tempting but nah, you're alright.

*slightly embarrassed cough* Radio 4 Extra.

Just tried. Not the merest scooby. I suspect that the songs they use are going to be a bit too contemporary for this old fart.

Do We Need a Short Scale Bass Sub-forum in the Basses For Sale Forum?
Rich replied to Obrienp's topic in General Discussion
With all due respect, that's easy to say when you don't have to a.) set it up, b.) mod it or c.) admin it. We already get enough things posted for sale in the wrong sections as it is. -
So was this a gig, or a sub-plot from a black-&-white Scandinavian art movie?

My ska bass is my ultimate budget instrument. The initial Jazz copy was picked up for free as it was in a bit of a state. The EMG eq I'd had for more years than I care to think about, this is the 4th or 5th bass it's been in, so I'm not costing that. Likewise the Schaller pickup which has been in the spares box for at least 15 years. The major outlay was the neck, which was 50. Decal was a tenner, paint about the same, oil was a fiver. Chequer tape was 3 quid, the Trojan logo roughly the same. So it owes me 90 plus a lot of elbow grease. Admittedly my gig rig is expensive, but in theory with a big PA I could get away with the Behringer combo I use for rehearsals, which was 30 quid.
