1. after finally getting my hands on Doodle yesterday evening (WHAT a neck. WHAAAAT a fabulous neck. Ill say it again. WHAAAAAAAAAAAT a fabulous neck!!!!) im really looking forward to seeing this DJV!
2. i would ask... what sort of music / style do you play, or intend to play? Certain basses suit different things imho
3. I had one of these many moons ago. Best bass sound I ever had but just wasnt loud enough on stage when we started doing bigger gigs, ive missed the tone ever since! Have a bump.

Ampeg

you know you love the Ampeg way DJV
5. Stingray's have never done it for me, but that is a beauty. Have another bump! -_-
6. New amp (Ampeg B2RE) and a Gator case. Now I must avoid GAS for the rest of the year (particularly for a valve pre amp in a separrate 2U case, already)

Ampeg??

Well my B2RE has arrived, and I can say for the money you are getting a hell of a lot of amp. Its now installed in a Gator so it wont be getting trashed anytime soon, and looks quite cool as a mini stack. I too am using a B410 cab. One rather annoying thing about it - the feet of it. Which if you are sticking it in a 2U rack need to be removed appear to be nigh on impossible to remove. One came out, and all the other three did not as they appear to have been bolted INSIDE the case in the amp, which I found out after having to remove the rubber from the screws. A minor annoyance as it will never come out of the rack, and putting the rubber back on if I DID remove it from the Gator would be pretty simple.
8. Mmm, nice

Ampeg??

Well, my B2RE just arrived this morning, looking forward to pumping it through my 4ohm cab at a full 450w. First gig at the weekend - ill post back on my thoughts if you like? I used to use a Trace head and cabs as well.
10.
Ah but hes smart and provided good service. He has assesed he cant sell you what you want cos hes hasnt got it. He has told you where you can, but he has also left you with a good impression of of his shop, and his service. Where is going to be high up your list next time you go bass shopping?
+1 to that. I always remember my sales experiences when it involves things that cost a lot of money. The guys at my local PMT have been great to me over the years, so I go there rather than anywhere else for sundries, and give them first go at trying to beat an internet price or such for anything expensive.
11. Cliff was one of the reasons why I took up twanging the 4-string ("you mean that's NOT a guitar making that sound?" - to quote me at a much younger age) so ill have to go with him. Plus he swung his hair around in circles. And wore flares.
12. Actually no I WONT be getting one from that particular firm, as they called me to say they had run out, and then instantly put the price up to £549!!!
13. Just ordered one from soundslive (who have some good reviews on here) for £350.99. Seems a very very good price indeed for Ampeg stufff...!
14. +10000000 Top man to deal with, some trouble my end with my amp at exactly the same time the item I bought from J confused matters... anyway to cut a long story short the cab he sold me was in great nick and sounds awesome, you just dont want your head to conk out at the exact same time it arrives (odd as it worked the week before). Very understanding chap to deal with considering the confusion surrounding the issue, buy from this man with great confidence, top comms and even offered to pay back the shipping on the cab when I originally thought he'd sold me a duffer. Which he hadnt. I still feel rather silly about that, ahem. Cheers J :-)
15. High praise indeed Wayne... ill see what little cash I have left after Chrimbo and see... ...funnily enough you also appear to have the same Trace head as me
16. All Ampeg stories welcome... :-) Seriously considering the B2-RE as a viable option as it appears my Trace has "issues".
17. Ive been considering the B2RE as an accompaniment to my B-410HLF... can you post on how it sounds (and critically, how load it is?)
18.
Is pretty bass, you leave money in bag under bench in park I see you get bass later
lol - love you long time... That's about as bent as a nine-bob note. Strange to go for Wal rather than the usual "I haves 1973 Fennderr and it eees nice please geeve me your credddit carrd"
19. one to watch with interest I feel... i mean, the story checks out... good luck if you bid!
20. I also fancied buying a Gibbo LP a few years ago. Tried it out, very nice, finish was a bit iffy though.... tried the Epi copy of exactly the same thing and bought that for less than half the price. No major difference in sound or playability...
21. you've missed Rock/Prog guy with a Rick sometimes with two necks
22. Ive never really been able to "get" DC. It doesnt help that the track of their we cover in the band does not require the use of the fretting hand throughout the entirety of the song (Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be), so I use it to drink a pint with during the song.
23. so, three cabs in that set up? Bloody hell... thats impressive. Was chatting with Dood earlier (he's quite the electrician) about the whole subject and answered a few more of my queries so ill bother you guys a little less! Dont you have to have some form of special cabling to run in series though?
24. This thread is bizarrely missing input from Mr Veall... so far!
25. That is an attractive bottom. I dont care about distortion anymore.
