1. Hi guys and gals, Unless I want to pay way over the odds for a 70's Gibson (£1200+) EB or Les Paul im going to have to get one from America, perhaps via EvilBay. How much woudl customs charge on say, a $1200 bass, then the insurance and packing / shipping? USPS service is £87.50 which sounds about right. Cheers for your advice...

5. I picked mine up for £200 from a local shop, but the finish had been stripped. So its sort of in the right ballpark I guess.
6. This seems, well, very cheap to me? http://www.hallolondon.co.uk/free_ads/for_...on_~178360.html

10. you Shuker perv DJV! lol - knew you wouldnt be able to resist this thread man! I have to go with thebeat here - the classic Ric "CLUNK" sound does it for me, which is why ive had one for 8 years and dont really play anything else at gigs. Would like a Gibbo EB-3 / LP for that "WOOOZZSHHZZ" fuzz sound though. Everyth now and then. For sh1ts and giggles, y' know.
11. that is awfully pretty.... you`ve kept it well. I have too much of a habit for attracting war scars on my basses!
12. doh ive put this in the "for sale" rather than "wanted" forum. Pls move to the right forum you nice moderator people! Ta
13. Anyone got one of these going? Ill consider any colour, pretty much any condition. Its either one of these or an EB-3, im not too fussed either way. Just want that booming Gibbo sound... Ta
14. Dunno if anyone would dig this, but two of my friends run an events company and have managed to get this set up... http://funkin.com/news/media/2008-08-17-ma...ss_800x1125.jpg Im going, tickets already bought! Come along if you wanna get your funk on. (Ive asked my pals to make certain that they play Mr Moon, wicked bass track)
15. No One Knows by QOTSA - new band are doing it. My old Washburn has never been tuned down to C before, bless it! Doesnt know whats happened to itself!

19. strange gig last night in Oulton Broad in front of a load of pissed chavs who had been on the sauce all day. Won them over though, hard going to start with, and got to use my singer's '75 P-Bass which was nice!
20. my old Marshall 12" Bass 60w combo. Wonderful sound... would love that back and use it with the Rick O Sound output and another amp... perhaps my old 1x15" Ampeg combo. They would have been a lovely combination thru the Rick O Sound box

...whats all the fuss about? Ive never used one - to be fair, ive only ever used fuzz as an effect before. Tell me your stories....
22. one of my heroes and I missed it! My gu*tarist told me about it when I saw him in town yesterday randomly whilst eating chips. Supposed to be quite the comedian apparently?
23. We use the whole caboodle for most of ours gigs. Can be a bit of overkill in some places. Definitely need backline though, all the drummers ive played with like to hear a thudding bass tone like a metronome on stage, a bit like me wanting to hear the snare and bass drum all the time.
24. I think the rehearsal thing aint a bad idea though, See how it goes... gotta be worth a punt?
25. This wasnt really a thread designed to knock any of the Denmark Street shops, more a first timer shopper's observation, I mean - its a business, and things are only worth how much someone will pay for it etc. My point was there are quite a few other shops selling the same stuff around the country that DONT charge an extra "Denmark Street Premium". I was warned before I went by a rather esteemed BC'er that the prices were inflated to say the least. As I said, fair play to them if they can pick a guitar up for £700 and flog it for £2100 because of their name. I think I may be in the wrong job thats all!
