2.
To use the GB as power amp you plug the VT to the GB's return jack, not send.
Whoops! Yep, what he said.
  3. Hi Brig, I have a VT deluxe and for old school tone its great. 1. Will it work ok with my rig, and if so, what settings should I use on the amp, should I set it to as clean/neutral as possible? I believe the Genz Shuttle's effects loop allows you to put the output of the VT direct into the 'send' jack at the back (don't plug anything into the 'receive' jack) and then the Genz will be a power amp only. This would then bypass the tone shaping and colouration of the Genz pre amp and only the master volume will work. If true then this is the way I would do it but check this out with Genz directly first as I don't own one and the manuals a little unclear on this. 2. Would I be better off running it through a power amp into my 2x10 cab, and if so, what power amp would you recommend? If the Genz will work as a power amp then just do that. You'd be hard pressed to get a dedicated power that small and light as they are usually designed to be rack mounted and therefore larger. It would only be worth considering if you needed more power/headroom. 3. Should I consider a 1x15 or 2x12" cab to go with it? Two 8ohm cabs or one 4ohm cab would get the best headroom out of the Genz. Cab choice is a whole other ball game though and very tough to advise upon. My choice: if your Genz 2x10 is 8ohm I'd get another of those. You could put this question in the amps and cabs section but expect diverse responses - its such an individual thing cabs and so many variables and choices. 3. Would it sound ok through the PA? It'll sound bloody brilliant mate - DI straight from the VT into the PA - its what its best at.
  4. I find this guy can be quite an experience http://youtu.be/KgemeBsgCQY
  5. Just popping in to say I use one of these as a power amp for my sansamp pedal. Does a cracking job!
  6. A thanks to Phil (i.stein) for pointing AMTP out in some other thread a couple of days ago. Been listening to this over the weekend and have been sad each time the last track finishes. Excellent aural experience DLB. Took some work to put those tracks together no doubt. New fan here!
  7. Hi BBQV. I know your question is to Lozz196 but I can answer this to save you waiting on him turning up here. It has gone as I bought it from him back then. Cracking little cab which I now have two of. Best of luck in your search for these.

  9. Aside from dispersion science, the small footprint of stackable 2 2x10's make a great practical benefit when the bands given a pub corner not much bigger than the drummers kit to play out of.

Appreciating the input fellas. A number of suggestions go over my personal budget which is set at 400 (my keyboard pound sign is broke by the way). Cracking choices but such things are hard to justify for a casualish weekend bander with family. The Squier VM Jag (with a pick up mod) is interesting. I like dots on rosewood. The Charvel is hard to see coming up local any time soon. The Jackson is at least a half day trip away. I work a 50-60 hour 6 day a week job and while I like to think of myself as not especially image consciousI am really. Can't see me with the headstock. Though it would be good to intimate the drummer with. Having that under his chin during any tricky fills and changes. I'd like that Tokai off of Lozz if it wasn't white. Truth is if it's value, not too cheap, not over budget. Black or natural (no sunbursts). deep blues considered. Is PJ, passive (active bypass even better) with a neck between a thick P and a slim Jazz, retro over modern style, comes with a free pizza and four cans of Czech Budvar (medium chill) which is housed within 15 miles travel and can be tried in conducive surroundings (thinking beanbags, lush drapes, exotic scents and scantily clad nubile's) then I'd consider it. But if I'd started like that you lot would of told me rightly to go swing you fussy get. So I'm going to walk into town to do the bank for work on Monday. Withdraw some of that quiet little prior gig money I have on the side. Pop into the store, haggle to get a strap chucked into the trade and put down my pounds on the O/T classic Jazz Not very daring of me. Not a lot of effort put into the hunt but truth is I tried that bass at the start of the week and I've tried to be a bit dispassionate about a purchase, but I can't stop thinking back to it and thinking actually I really liked that. Really, really liked that. Cheers again.
I would go for the overwater hands down. a great bass- I didn't like the style of the neck on the one I tried but it sounded so so good. One question- why a PJ over a Jazz?
I guess because I've never owned or played in a band setting with a true P or a true J I'm a little worried that I if I settled for one or the other I'd be wondering 'what if'. The band range is over 'nut bush city limits', Stevie Ray Vaughans 'Pride and Joy', Ranconteurs 'Steady as she goes,' Stevie Wonders 'Superstition', Clash 'brand new cadillac' theme from Pulp Fiction, 'Play thay Funky music', 'Soul Man' type stuff. .
The Yamaha - it's like a big nasty bear that wants to rip your bandmates' arms off; I'd buy one of the many Yamaha BBs for sale on here and on eBay at the moment
Couple of plus points.
If you like blend controls then the BB424 isn't for you - it has a 3 way switch.
A minus point I think. Well picked up that Judge. Sounds like the Yamaha can come out throwing the big hooky punchs. The Overwater Tanglewood a touch more adaptable possibly over the distance if it can throw out the strong jabs and solid straights.

I'm pretty much settled that for the new band I'm with I'd like to upgrade my Bass. My Ibanez ATK is decent for cutting through scooped rock guitars but the new lot are a leaner, mellower, funky blues thing and I'm thinking a smooth passive P/J would sound somewhat more fitting in the mix. So far It's a light middle weight (in price) contest between - In the blue corner weighing in at a hefty 12 kilos (can it really be that heavy?) the well regarded and seasoned Yamaha BB424x. And in the red corner: weighing in at 6 kilos (I think), the new 'pretender' with a touch of pedigree - The Overwater by Tanglewood Classic jazz. Problem is I can't try them both out in the same place at the same time. I've played the Tanglewood and the neck was no trouble, couldn't fault the build quality, the tones were good across the range and pick up panning was nice and smooth. I'm sure the Yamaha will probably be suitably decent but with no local stocks to try before buy there's a touch of risk to a blind order. I hear the necks take a bit of living with but how true that is...... If I could put them in a heads up brawl do any pundits, armchair spectators, users of etc wanna take a stab at which one would get lifted aloft by a ref at the bitter end. Anyone wanting to confuse the matter by chucking in a tag team option please feel free. May the best bass win.
  14. Pixes intro to 'where is my mind'. When he says 'stop' at the start and the riff comes in with b/vocals, then Drums, then Bass and away they go. Very simple and pure.
  15. Wayne, post that video of you playing it that you sent me when I asked about this bass last week. This one here. http://youtu.be/l1KweCMvLFY Great moves man.
  16.
They used chords?
Only other peoples.
  17. I don't want you to e-bay it either. I'm hoping that at the month end I've the pounds to step in. http://youtu.be/P2uQyP-I2VI but sadly I can't promise.
  18.
Thats not a party trick, a real party trick is being caught out at the start of Dakota (stereophonics) and playing through the whole song without spilling yer pint Ner!
Now that I'm gonna have a go at! A very useful technique indeed.
  19. Over time your listing falls down as people put up new threads and yours becomes an old thread. To put your listing back up to the top you reply to yourself with a 'bump'. Good luck with the sale.

  21. When I'm watchin' my T.V. And that man comes on to tell me How white my shirts can be But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke The same cigarrettes as me I can't get no, oh no, no, no Hey hey hey, that's what I say I can't get no satisfaction I can't get no girl reaction 'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try I can't get no, I can't get no When I'm ridin' round the world And I'm doin' this and I'm signing that And I'm tryin' to make some girl Who tells me baby better come back later next week 'Cause you see I'm on a losing streak I can't get no, oh no, no, no Hey hey hey, that's what I say

  23. Dam that's small! Did you try it before you bought it and have you noticed it's got quieter since new? Try cutting all the bass and boosting all the highs on your bass tone knobs. It's the only way I reckon you'll get a output from a bass guitar at all.
