1.
I'm happy to stand corrected. On the subject of the Nomeansno stuff that's been posted on here, there's a little part of me that thinks "why doesn't he just get a guitar", anybody else? or is it just me.
He is definitely the lead instrument which is kinda unique for a punky band. I enjoy the drummer the most though. Did you enjoy the posted songs?
2.
you lucky bastard.. details wanted, by PM if necessary. i'm well jealous.
Ditto, surely a truly great gig. And have't heard 'six pack' for a good eighteen months. Must never let that happen again Klaus Flouride: My hero
3.
I have just become a fan of Nomeansno. Thank you so very much.
Just for you on this very special day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppR6LcGnkUY
4. Have never recorded with it so can't say I'm afraid but its called 110 studio I believe because thats a market it intended to cover. The pre amp out I've yet to use but the d.i is very good. It is the same as on their pod stuff. Its worth noting that it is set to simulate a miked cab mind. The amp models E.Q's are set flat on a preset default sound rather than a genuine flat sound and then the E.Q's mimic the original amp its modeled on i.e treble on the clean (eden) model react's different to the treble on the rock (ampeg) model. I couldn't tell you though if these actually sounded like the amp they are modeled on. You can reset these defaults with your own EQ choice but can store only one new preset within a model at a time. I use a different compressor (trace smx dual) so don't know the amps one well but it is supposed to be decent.
5. I have the studio 110 and rate it. Its not as quiet as 75w suggests but I do gig it sitting on the bands (v.good) sub in the venue back corner. D.i out to the mixer. Master vol is on full though and it gets hot. I plan to get a small power amp and use the 110 as a pre into into a larger cab soon in case I'm burning it out. The grind model does nothing for me and synth model for home messing only but the other models are very useable IMO. The bigger speaker versions just don't seem to be as respected as this little one.
6. Made a cab purchase from Lozz. An easy and professional person to deal with. Trade with confidence.
7. No experience but I guess such things are said because the vt and its ilk are trying (and very successfully) to be a valve preamp in themselves.
8. If you turn up drunk, make sure you chewed a packet of mints before hand. Proceed to tell the band you had a small stroke half and hour ago and refuse to go to hospital till the gigs over. Only, and only, when you fall into the drumkit should you lie still and ask for an ambulance. You gain much kudos for your commitment to the cause rather than a sacking for being a bum.Caution: never works more than twice on the same people. Tip: Can also work at work if you swap drumkit for photocopier or fork lift truck.

11.
Meant to add, trades could be considered but I've no idea what for - so try me!
Would a 1 year old, looked after Ibanez ATK 300 suit you sir?
12. Few bands can make the metal groove like Pantera I reckons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3JSbOt7CLo

15.
Could you give us any more clues as to what song it was?
Was: Are you gonna be my girl - by Aussie upstarts Jet - fair few cover bands knock this one out.
16. Certainly didn't post a favourite of mine. Just one where the bass starts the song, has had more than enough radio time for a number of regular people to go 'oh I know this one' and has 8.5 million youtube hits.
17. PM reply to you on the Yamaha's sent.
18. Hi Skezza, I'd be interested in your pair of Yammy cabs. Where about in Staffs are you? Friend of mine takes his Van up to Brum every couple weeks and he'd do a bit of a detour for me (and a crate of good beer) if your not to far out.
19. The big town nearest me had a pub which once a month put on punk/hardcore bands. I went all the time. One time another regular says to me 'can you play bass'. I say 'no' and he then says 'do you want to we need a player'. He's the guitar player and gives me a lesson, a bass and tabs 'of sorts' to his bands songs. I learn em turn up for the rehearsals, have a cracking laff and we do a support slot a couple months later in the above pub. My Dad was Army and we've moved around a lot (I went through seven schools between 5 and 16). Being bass in a band made me feel I'd actually arrived and belonged somewhere.
20. Start resting immediately. Absolutely do not play through the pain. The more experienced than I will pick up your post shortly with further advice.
21. Is it/they worth the aggro? You've stuck with them so far so maybe. Video a rehearsal or two. invite em over, play it back to them. Diplomatically get them to analyze the performance standards to see if they can be self critical. If they see nothing wrong and don't feel the need to improve you have an answer. If they see and desire the need to change then maybe quietly assume band leader role. The Bass player is often the bands glue even if they don't see it. Take charge of distributing tabs if you can. (Try Guitar pro software with shareware tabs, the tab quality is easy to evaluate and song learning is quicker and easier). Be diplomatic and try get them to learn songs right before taking any artistic license. Artistic license should be by band consensus and an amount does need to happen (its a fine line though). Solo's don't need to be perfect but without the signature licks you’re on a loser (unless your lead is Hendrix reincarnated). Add an extra regular rehearsal of just bass and guitars, minimal volume, practice amps on clean only and run through the weak songs. Insist upon doing this against the original a fair few times before doing it without. Get a song as good as possible before taking it to the drummer and singer for the polish. Build set list from simple songs to more complex. Ditch songs that aren't improving quickly. You can revisit them later if wanted. Goal is get the band preforming a bunch of songs songs tightly and powerfully as quickly as possible coz the buzz of that really aids the motivation and sets a standard within the band. Good luck fella. There is a valid experiance is hanging with a bad band and trying to improve them, but not for too long mind. P.S if anyone walks out in a hissy fit cos they won't join the team then once their gone, their gone. Do not invite them back. They have to plead. If it ends up with just you and the drummer say well thats plenty to build the new band from.
