  4. Along with Coughlan and Lancaster from Quo. They were my first engine room experience as a kid. Like the 1.49 train, just chugging along.!
  5. Isn’t that the real challenge. Producing a kind off version against learning to absorb the way the player approached the line.
  6. Maybe we should develop a list of must listen to bass lines, for the approach, structure and transferring theory to practice. Rather than just popularity and tone? often just learning scale etc can feel dry until you apply them in context.
  7. I've learnt "Every time you go away" by Paul Young for an upcoming gig. Its given me a real insight into the great Pino Palladino as a player. He has such a relaxed approach to playing and his execution is impeccable. I was just wondering if you guys have ever learned a particular bass line and in doing so, discovered how another player approaches constructing a bass line?
  8. I get over excited and overload my nut sometimes. I tend to palm mute all the strings and just add a percussion thud until I can drop back in. I used to panic and chase the bars. I’ve learnt not to just smile and keep gesturing.
  9. Really great transaction. So relaxed and perfect communication. Top man
  10. Bilbo. I hope you are ok? I can't imagine what it's like? The world must seem a different place after such an event? However, you could crack on and go out with a bang!! or a thud!
  11. Thank you, SM. it is a fine instrument. The sustain is so good you could go to the bar. Have a few pints. Discuss the merits of Henry James calling Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace a " Loose baggy Monster". A bag of scratchings and a cheeky short, head back on stage and check then head back to the bar!!
  12. What a pair of complete %#&*wits
  13. Hello. Its a 34" and the nut is exactly 40mm cheers
  14. Cheers. You’ve just announced its 40th birthday. It’s a great bass.
  15. Fine and rare example of these beautiful basses. Made in Japan in the legendary Matsumoku factory. Date is 1979. Lots of Mojo from the Dimazio pickups. In really good condition give it’s nearly 40 years old. Price to sell. £325 Welcome to collect or meet up near Birmingham
  16. Sorry to hear that Mike. Gutting. Hope you recover the bass
  17. I’d like to be less sloth like! And less annoyed 1. As I watch my friends abandoning the happy times for healthy lifestyles 2. Walking past easy gym in Kingsheath seeing all the “Happy People” 3. Being dragged along to functions where there are no bass people and I have to be around mortals who just talk
  18. I saw unknown Mortal Orchestra. Just brilliant. Really focused and tight set. No glory hunting, just came on and delivered a captivating set. Loads of gear to cast judgment on, including some very strange looking guitars.
