  1. Fender Nate Mendel is thinner, not sure about the 60's bit. Yamaha recent BB series have fantastic necks, really comfy.
  2. I sold and then re-bought one of these recently, as much as I love the slim neck on my Yamaha this was like coming home.
  3. My understanding was that the quarter pounder was the pickup of choice for a lot of the American punk bands. I had a nate Mendel bass which comes with it as standard and it was fantastic.
  4. Underwhelmed. I'm not keen on the new pickguard and was hoping for a P only model. I'll go take a look when they hit the shops but not in any particular hurry.
  5. I can't really stand eating less than 3 hours before we play but im also known for getting "hangry" when I havent eaten. This is a nightmare when we arrive an hour before gig time and I'm growling at band mates!
  6. Here's where its stated. EXL's.. https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/el_basses/bb/specs.html#product-tabs
  7. I think they are D'Addario XL if I remember correctly, it states what they are for certain on the site.

  10. That new T-Bird is sexy as!
  11. They are great basses. You may be interested to know they do price matching which can knock some money off. If you're interested that is..
  12. Mike Watt comes across as totally mad but in the best possible way!
  13. I went from abm to root master via a gk mb fusion, couldn't be much happier. That said, if I drove to my gigs I'd probably get the abm. The sound is better but not massively, depends on how important portability is to you.
  14. Agreed on that point. I love playing them but I can't be doing with the softer wood.
  15. Knew it! You taking it Saturday?
  16. Just back from a fantastic gig at the New Cross Inn, London. Unfortunately had to leave early due to work commitments but one of those gigs where everything comes together and truly makes you happy to be in a band.
  17. I'm always up for spending less money but i went to the yamaha store a few weeks back and felt the 1024 destroyed the 424 in every category.
  18. Good shop, staff very friendly. They let me try a plethora of basses even though my heart had already been stolen in the Yamaha store!
  19. I played one in GAK a few weeks back. Felt good.
