  1. Thanks for the contributions, given me plenty to ponder on.
  2. Hi everyone, Looking for a bit of advice on getting a pedal or alternative to get a boost on certain parts of our tracks. I'm currently playing a P bass through a Ashdown RM-500 and am happy with the core sound. Certain parts of the song, i.e. when its a bass lead or guitar drops out it could just do with a bit of a boost. Being useless with pedals thought I'd put the question out there for knowledgeable people to clue me up! I'm not looking to distort the signal any further than I have currently, maybe just make it little more ballsy as if I'd turned the gain up a little? Is this as simple as getting a bass booster? Thanks in advance!

  4. Try loads of stuff, buy secondhand.
  5. I played one in Glasgow, loved it. Light and nice neck if memory serves. Been looking for a secondhand model ever since! I was in looking at precisions and the guy in the shop insisted I try them!
  6. For sale is my Behringer BDI21. In perfect working condition and with free 9v battery included. This is a great cheap alternative to a Sansamp BDDI and is largely modelled on the same to great results. For those who don't know this can be used to DI to a sound desk and works as a bass modelling preamp. Only selling as surplus to requirements. GAK have these up for £30 so how about £20 including delivery for this. [attachment=220054:bdi1.jpg] [attachment=220055:bdi.jpg]
  7. I went to the Newcastle outlet and whilst the staff were friendly enough they had bugger all in store!
  8. I play in a punk band and have used Mark Bass and Ashdown in the past amongst other brands. Mark Bass tonewise seemed a little sterile to me but had plenty of volume and is obviously super lightweight. I moved over to Ashdown to an ABM, whilst I loved the tone I missed the portability of the MarkBass. Enter my current squeeze the Rootmaster EVO 500. Retains much of the characteristic of an ABM Ashdown sound I like but with added portability. I'm happy with it, haven't investigated the cabs as yet. Good luck.
  9. For sale is my unopened fender case candy (hate that phrase..) with Foo Fighters neck plate. Perfect for a fan or someone who wants to stand out. £20 delivered.
  10. Sold Jathan an ashdown abm 500. A pleasure to deal with. Hope you're enjoying the new head.

Appreciate that Lozz, I'll be bringing my new bass head, I think you're gonna like!
  12. Whoops, damn mobile posting.. Can a mod please move this to accessories?
  13. I've noticed that some people dislike the sound of new strings due to the inherent "zing" that accompanies it. I'm selling some worn in rotosounds which have had this eradicated over the last 8 weeks of playing. Yours for £8 including delivery saving £10 on normal price and worn in to boot. Cut for a fender.

Joint tour is over, had a great time and played lots of new places. I will continue to update page as and when new dates get booked.
  15. Tried this out today, I wasn't hugely impressed if I'm honest. The sound was fine but not to my taste particularly, also the knobs seemed really cheap to the touch, no resistance in moving. I liked the on board tuner though. Its reasonable for the price, I think you're better off buying second hand and getting something nice.
  16. Competitions where they make you sell tickets are a waste of time. You're better off making friends with other bands and doing gig swaps and you won't feel like you've forced people to buy tickets either.
  17. Sorry to be putting this up for sale but doesn't seem to fit the band's dynamic. Bought second hand from here a month ago. It's in top condition and does the classic GK sound superbly. It's done 4 gigs with me but hasn't worked worked out, it's a shame because in isolation I love the sound and could dial in a variety of lovely tones. Just looking for what I paid which is £350, these retail for just under £600 so it's a decent saving on new. Happy to post but I am playing several gigs around the country so may be able to meet up. In terms of trades I'd be looking for an ashdown RM500/800 or Aguilar tonehammer but willing to consider other options. The amp comes with all the original features including footswitch, cables, instruction manual and packaging. Abertillery was awesome! Lovely people, a cracking pizza shop and a place to stay, couldn't ask for more. If you get the chance to play the Dolls House, get involved!
