[/quote] Whilst charic has lost his delightful avatar, he has nonetheless found the secret of using tab as a learning tool - because, let's face it, it can be great in combination with the written music. I regularly used to use it to test and see if I'd worked the music out correctly.

No, not gloomy - all good things to think about. My only other comment came on the back of previous "know your worth" - in that it's easier to work things out if you know how much you want to be earning. You'll know your current bills/mortgage now, and your existing income and what it leaves you to play with; probably a very good starting point to say [i]right, I want to earn X[/i] - and then work out how from there.

No comment to make on the move from being a salaried employee to a self-employed musician - I haven't done so, myself, so it would feel a little disingenous to be lecturing you on it! Seconded. I'm in the gym 3-4 times a week. You don't need to go for hours on end and flog yourself into the ground - as long as you're in there and getting a sweat on, you're doing yourself some good at least. I've had a bit of a heavy weekend, wracking up the beers on Sat; and then out for dinner on Sunday, so I feel like a blob this morning. Doesn't take long to shift, however.
