1.
Not entirely sure what a 'sole' band is...
...always flat with a fishy set list.
 2.
Nick Mason..? Recorded at 78, played back at 33. That old trick worked for ages...
Has Nick Mason ever 'bigged' himself up though. The impression I got when reading his book and the interviews I've seen of him, he always seems to regard himself as a bit average at best.
 3.
The neck. Built for speed and sin.
You can't leave it like that! What've ya got man?
You have a hollow neck to get through Customs ???
I've got an Ibanez Soundgear. 3 years old. Love it. Feels right, sounds great. Tried a few others lately and although they're are good basses, nothing wrong with them whatsoever, they just didn't feel right. I might buy another Soundgear
 4. Listened to the outtake in the OP, such a shame that a good drum groove was wasted on such a dog awful song. Probably the reason I've never taken much notice of Bonham is I don't get the adulation of Zepplin, but then I'm not much interested in the adulation of individual players.
 5.
So to get back to the topic, I haven't heard his new album, would anyone here recommend it? To a music listener, not a bass player - I don't listen to music just for the bass player.
Weirdo
 6.
I don't understand. A modelling amp/re-amp is just like any other amp/pre-amp. You turn the knobs until it sounds good in the band mix. What exactly is the problem?
This. I personally think most people hear what they want to hear. They see a modelling amp and they hear sh*t, they see a half stack and it sounds great...when in fact they both sound the same near as hell. Charic's hit on the head though, most of the crap you hear from a modelling amp is because people don't know how to 'set them up'. I had this problem with a Line6 Lowdown 300. Only when Charic provided me with a few pointers (thanks ) did I start to feel comfortable with the sound I was getting. What did it sound like? Much like my own combo when playing in a band context. I recently saw a band playing live twice, a couple of months apart. In those 2 months they, unknown to me, changed their bass player - I'll be honest I just thought the guy had had a shave...dear o dear . The first time I saw them the bass player had a full stack, a 410 on top a 115, a full sound blah, blah, blah. The second time I saw them, with a new bass player, I spent the first 10 minutes trying to figure out where the bass players rig was. He didn't have one, he was playing through a Line6 Pod, into the desk, straight to the PA and using in ear monitoring. He sounded the same as the previous guy and has the same tone as on the CD I bought that night...which he doesn't play on.
 7.
So what they need, as well as a sane CEO, is a decent Quality Engineer, which is where I come in, so Mr Hall, fire your Quality Manager and Quality Engineer, cause' they are clearly crap, and apoint me instead. Go on I dare you. Seriously I have just recently aquired Ricky GAS and was looking for a black one. Needless to say Mr Hall, can now stick it. I've always thought the build quality was crap, but I just fancied one. When you have to spend extra dosh to get a brand new bass put right something is clearly very wrong. Congratulations Mr Hall for shooting yourself in the foot big style.
If you want to save yourself a few quid you're in luck mate. Possibly not the real thing though, WoT's got one for sale and it's black!!! 8. Just been reading this thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/173174-value-for-money-v-cheap-and-nasty/page__pid__1611300#entry1611300 would one say it's VFM or CAN? Also, how much does it weigh? Can you make it sound like a P Bass because that's what I'm really after? Can you replace the neck on these because I don't really like the look of that headstock tbh?
 9. Regardless of whether the trademark is enforceable, which it seems it isn't in this case, Rickenbacker seem to have scored a massive own goal here. Pursuing a trademark infringement on a private sale on a bass forum of 20,000 members can only be seen as a massive over reaction. I think we'd all be supportive if Rickenbacker were pursing manufacturers that are presently making copies, but a 30yr old copy and a private sale, no
 10. It seems to be a recurrent theme unfortunately, the rudeness and slack attitude of 'musicians'. I answered an add for a band a couple of weeks ago, met the drummer and guitarist for a beer, arranged a meet up to run through some songs this coming sunday and was told they'd send me a few songs to learn. Nothing so far. I don't even know if it's still on, where it is, or what songs they want to play. At the moment I'm tempted to send them a text on Friday saying forget it. At the other end of the scale is this. I went to an open mic night on Monday and bumped into a guitarist I'd been rehearsing with 18 months ago. I quit after a couple of rehearsals. Got chatting to him and he said the guy that they found to replace me was leaving so they were looking for a bass player. I thought about it, so texted him yesterday saying I'd be interested. He got straight back to me saying they had someone in mind but if that didn't work out he'd be in touch definitely. He's a good guitarist, the rest of the band are solid and tight, they communicate and they don't have egos. Now that's what you want. And yes I was a twat for leaving
 11.
Good job she was wearing dungerees...
Entirely depends on what fabric they're made of Anyway...started on bass, sold bass and did a lot of fishing (I might add not for bass ) and then returned to bass. I still do a bit of fishing. I have never played anything else, which has its disadvantages...quite a lot of them really.
 12. I drive to rehearsals and gigs so drinking is simply not an option, especially as my job involves driving so my licence is my pay cheque. I've only met one person who drank at rehearsals recently and that was the drummer in a former covers band. He was useless when sober and after a couple of bottles of beer it certainly didn't improve matters.
 13.
Ah now then Rich, I can help you here. What I do is look closely at the pedal to see where it says OUT. I plug the amp into this one. Then cunningly, using the principle of elimination, I calculate that the other one must surely be IN. I plug the bass into this one. Never fails! Though I bet you've never turned up to see a band as a punter... ...to find you're supposed to be playing in that band...
Mrs Marvin just asked "has your pedal got IN and OUT written on it?" I obviously said "uh, yes". To which she replied "you sad twat"
 14. Worst I do, and I do it every time, is mixing up the input and output up on my Zoom pedal. Obviously this results in no sound Thankfully the 'problem' is fully resolved by the time I've actually got to play. And for some reason I like to put the lead from my bass into the headphone socket on my amp...not once has this worked
 15.
Unlucky I have still not heard anything back yet so I have everything crossed now
I wouldn't keep everything crossed for too long, you'll get pins and needles and get frightfully uncomfortable All the best mate.
 16.
Thanks guys, fingers crossed here also
Keeping my fingers crossed for you mate, hope you get it.
 17.
Massively excellent basses for the money IMO. The necks are prone to a fair bit of seasonal movement IME, but with that thin a neck what can you expect (its nothing that a tweak of the truss rod wont sort out). Very very playable and superb sound for the cash. I've recommended these on a fair few threads!
Neck movement is the only 'issue' with them. But as you say, nothing that a tweak to the truss rod can't sort out.
 18. Frustratingly good basses. I say frustrating because I'd like to buy something else just because I can, but every time I come back home, after trying a bass in a shop. and play my SR300 I just start thinking, why bother? The damned thing just feels completely right for me and I'm always getting people say how good it sounds. Gggrrrrrr ... and anytime I've turned up to have a practice or jam with new people they always say "that's a very nice looking bass" and they're always surprised at how little it costs. There I've just talked myself out of buying a different bass again Well...I could always upgrade say this or this
 19. If you like it keep it. I assume you first bought the gear because you felt you needed it for what you were doing, and it's not like you're just sat at home noodling away with it. Enjoy it.
 20. You would have thought that given the size of its hands the sculptor would have given the poor robot a bass with a more sizeable neck. A little odd to give it an Ibanez SR
 21. The tech I took my bass to to have it serviced the other day has a Rumble 210 100w, says that one is incredibly loud. Can't vouch for that though, I only used it to have a noodle on a P bass he had there.
 22.
I`ve used Fender Rumble amps, though only the 100 watt versions. Great tone from these amps. I did think though, that for 100 watts it was very quiet, so would be concerned that this could be a trait through the whole range.
Was it the 115 or 210 Rumble? I used the 115 in a practice room and found it a bit lacking. I had the volume quite high and struggled to hear myself. The new 350's are an improvement IMO, I've used mine quite a bit and never had it past 12o'clock. If the guitars and drums are any louder than that they need to turn themselves down
 23.
What would go for a fender rumble 150 head with fender rumble 410 cab or Marshall mb4210 combo? I play rock orientated stuff (foo fighters) as my main genre with my band but I play everything from blues to acid jazz to funk to rock! I've played through a fender rumble 150 into a Marshall 410 can before and it copes volume wise but I also have a Marshall mb30 and I want to know which one of the two options (mb4210 or rumble combo) will give me the most volume? I know more speakers is more air moved but I was wondering if the Marshall will be as loud or louder. I like the tone of both but prefer the Marshall just abit. Comments and answers please! Many thanks!
Personally I wouldn't buy the Rumble 150 head, I'd go for the 350 and stick that with the 410. Overall though, the Marshall and Fender ranges seem quite similar so I suppose in a way it'll just come down to what you want written on the front of your rig Personally I'd go for the Fender head and cab, but that's only because I own the Rumble 350 combo, I know what it sounds like, I'm familiar with it and I quite like it.
 24.
His pipes are still good, allegedly. Can I tap someone for a lift?
I could have given you a lift, but I've pulled the plug on the idea.
 25. I've got a few pots of emulsion that look a similar colour and they're 'soft hazel'
