1. Auditioned for a band, where the songs they asked me to learn were: Jamiroquai - Canned Heat, Otis Redding - Hard to Handle, Abba -Gimme Gimme Gimme & Curtis Mayfield - Move on up Thought it was a really good selection of songs, enjoyed learning them so i was really keen to impress. Got offered to join the band, said yes, and then they gave me their set list...... Dakota, sex on fire, brown eyed girl...... Nothing wrong with these songs but going by the songs they asked me audition, i didn't expect their set list to consist of the "standard" tunes it was. My fault i suppose, never assume!
2.
Gear4Music IEMs are no more - although they were just generic rebranded Chinese efforts. You can find those - but finding them for channel 70 may be a bit difficult. I can have a look for you. For wireless- yes, you are correct - earphones into receiver pack, usually clipped onto you. X-Air18 - well, thats a good starting point!
# Yeh i absolutely love the X-Air 18. Very pleased we went digital!! Thanks for that link. Illegal operating frequency?!? How is this policed? Is it likely to cause problems if we went for that unit for example?
3. Seems we are being too trusting maybe!! We have 20% deposit upfront, with a contract signed stipulating what they can expect from us etc. Maybe i'll bring up the topic that we should start requesting the payment before we play.
4. Cant speak for anyone else or what is "the norm", but we don't ask for it beforehand. Sometimes they will offer it before, and that case we'll take it. If not, we usually either ask the best man/maid of honour after the event. I would say in 90% of the cases though, we haven't had to ask
5. There is a Behringer one somewhere. Could always ask on here though. There are a fair few users i think
6. I thought id ask this in here, but happy to start a thread if you want me to. I'm trying to convince our band to go the "in ear monitoring" route. I remember people talking about the Gear4Music setup as being a good budget set up. I cant find them though? Have they stopped selling their own brands version? After reading a bit of this thread i'm aware the important bit is the earphones, so they are plugged into the receiver pack you clip on your belt i'm guessing? Sorry, i'm new to this type of monitoring so really have no clue. Happy to start a separate thread too Edit to say we are using a Behringer X-Air 18, so with the 6 channel aux output, this set up would be ideal
7. About time you posted another build! You've been slacking
8. How could you not??
9. Dont see why not!!
10. We starting at 1 or 2? I will have to be leaving by 3 either way as we are gigging, but first post has suggested time of 1-5 Then underneath "Time wise I suggest starting around 2pm and going on to around 6pm."
11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUpGfj9ZJMA Like that. There's a couple of pedals that's involved too. Envelope filter and distortion i think..? I had this set up for a bit. Good Fun!!
12. Top service Happy Days
13. Yes there is a one off charge, or a yearly fee.
14. I've had a 4 string thumb. Really loved the sound. I would guess it would be perfect for the genre you're going for. I found it uncomfortable to play though. Not sure why, but it gave me problems in my shoulder on my fretting hand. I actually play with a Streamer now, and that is absolutely fine, no pains at all. So might just have been a one off. The $$ is a brilliant bass too. Super punchy. Biggest output on a bass i've ever played. The one i bought was advertised as " a bit beat up" . It was battered. Drive a lorry under the strings the action was so high. But it was my first Warwick, and converted me. I cant speak for the Stingrays, but definitely check out a few Warwicks
15.
Wow, quietest 6 piece ever? Si
We aren't heavy rock admittedly, but as a 6 piece disco/funk we aren't really quiet either. I must say that it's probably on the limit of what a single cab can do, but 1 cab really is enough for me. YMMV and all that. They are good cabs. Stick a good amp on top and you're onto a winner!
16.
How do you find the 1126s now you've lived/gigged with them a little? I'm considering them Do you use them without PA support at all? Si
Cant speak for the 1126s, but i play in a 6 piece function band and i use a single TKS S112, without PA support for the majority of the time. I do have a second cabinet, but more often than not i don't feel i need it. I would guess 2 X 1126s is more than enough for most gigs until we start talking stadiums and the like
17. That's a wicked story! Congrats on the offer of playing with him again in the future, you obviously did something right!! Nice one
18.
Easily one of the best rigs I've had and yet it's up for sale in the classifieds.. Damn Basschat! Alpher Mako GK 700Rb-II 2 X GK Neos
Why's it up then Jay? Love that Alpher too
19. OoOooOOoooOO bet that moves some air. Good life choices that man
20. Reminded me of Billy Talent. Nice
21. The overhang of the Mesa would be too much for my OCD!! Decision made haha In all seriousness, both are top quality brands with no shortage of happy users. Im guessing it all comes down to personal preference. At the minute you say you prefer the Vanderkleys, for whatever reason that might be, so give the One10s another couple of gigs before your months trial is up, and see if they can change your mind. Not losing anything. And sometimes what you say you prefer is only actually what your used to. Another few gigs, getting more used to the EQ settings and voicing of the BF cabs and the One10s could have you drooling
22. Just checking... we all good for this ? ?
23. I had a Peavey ipr 1600 with a Marcus Miller Pre. Playing through Bergantino HD112s. Looking back, it was probably the best sound I've ever had.
24. Nice one. Cheers Steviebee
