Thought this may have been about preferences whilst going to the toilet..... I always practice sitting down. Useful tip, have your strap to hold your bass at the same height when your standing as it is whilst sitting when you practice. For your information, sitting for the luxury feel

Here's my modest effort this month. Didnt have much time to work on it or expand the idea at all. Just turned on garageband, added some compression, and pressed record. Here it is: https://soundcloud.com/tona-fied/noodle-funk Enjoy

But truth of it is i'm not picking it up to play it. I think its mostly because i haven't "gelled" with the neck. I've played my Streamer for so long, that feels like the norm now, and anything else is just cumbersome to me. My custom build from Andy is a direct copy of my Streamer, so no issues there. Everything else about the bass is superb. I love the way it looks, but as most of my gear, i am aware it is possibly a bit "Marmite". Hopefully if you're still reading this, you like a bit of Marmite! This bass sounds just as a Passive Precision should. Nice, even, round & warm low tones. All the way through to rasping and gnarly. It is brilliant "in the mix". Can suit most kinds of music really. Couple of people recently played it at the South Wales Bass Bash so hopefully they can comment on what they thought of it here too. It cost me just shy of £950 just over a month ago, because of the extras, i will include the receipt in the sale/trade. I'm looking for £800 and that will be delivered to your door in a hard case. I am open to trades, but will need to know the thickness and depth of the proposed trade (sorry to be a pain). No more than 5 strings either. Cash can be added either way for the right bass. I'm located in South Wales, and as ever you're welcome to come and try the bass out through your rig or mine. Any questions feel free to ask. I know I will inevitably be asked to weigh it, so will try to find a way to do that when i get in from work later. Thanks for reading

Quality bit of craftmanship again mate
Me too bud. My SS1 is from 1987, so it has the 2 way electronics. Always on the J pickup, with the bass fully up. I keep the treble in the middle for that Zender-type sound. Yeahhh, get into the loaded compression though man. It really compliments that sound from the bass. Tightens the natural punch in things even more.
Hahaha, mine is an '87 too! I'll try the compression next gig
-
All on the bridge pickup, with the onboard bass boosted to compensate, and you're getting as close as an instrument will get you too the sound you want. Burpy, tight, and fat, all at once. Mega compression too. "Too young to die" was recorded straight into the desk using a 1990 SS1.
That's exactly how i run my SS1!! Don't use compression though, so i might be tempted to give that a try....
-
Yup ill get some pics up soon as it all arrives. I'll have to have a look how to send the aux pre fader now then!!
No problem - and let us know how you get on. Enjoy the revelation!
Ordered the P1, a 15M XLR to Jack lead, and the UE900s all for under £250! Should all be here by Monday at the latest, so I'm looking forward to giving them a blast at next weeks rehearsal!

It's when parts of the body are hollowed out, or chambered, usually to make the guitar lighter or balance better. I think that's correct. I only know because the bass Andy made for me has a chambered body, and it has made a big difference to the weight!!
-
I'll be able to hear you crystal clear now Thanks again, really have been superbly helpful

People will except less for a sale because it means they can put the money towards buying exactly what they want. Rather than potentially trading it for something they don't entirely want, but will accept. I would guess this is the thinking behind it. Although, i agree with you, i don't get it really
-
That's brilliant. Ordered Can i join the club now?
-
OK firstly Mr EBS_Freak, thank you. I feel you've probably gone far beyond what's expected from you just in helping me. Cant thank you enough. Really appreciate it. Ive taken you up on your suggestion and contacted my local dealer of the UE900s. I will let you know what they come back with regarding price etc. May even just get moulds first as last
-
Are they really?? I didn't realise that! Yeh I think you'd be fine too, but it's you that's gotta live with them, and it's your money
-
Yeh i enjoyed! Will hopefully have more time on the next one and we can really start swinging with the gear

Just made my way through this thread. Just over 2 hours later.... A lot of good information on here though. Thanks everyone who has chimed in. So i'm going to go down the wired route initially, with some comparatively cheap in ears, although it seems i am merely delaying the inevitable!! Couple more questions if i may..... What is the difference between the Behringer P1 and the HA400 & MA400? Do they all pretty much do the same job? I'm more tempted by the Millenium HPA that has been recommended, but cant see how the aux from the X-18 would connect to it, other than taking two channels? and effectively running 2 separate mixes in stereo? Might well be getting confused here. But there's 6 of us, so we will possibly need the 6 channels. I cant go taking two Secondly, I've looked at the Shure 215s and 315s. Is there a noticeable quality difference between the two? 315s being double the price ....

Lot of pages on this thread too I'll make my way through it. Thanks gents
Pretty much - but you'd typically go AUX -> HEADPHONE AMP -> CABLE EXTENSION -> IN EARS
Ok, a whole new world of things to delve into. Wired solution will be fine for me, so if this makes for a better sound too, it's more than likely ill go down this route. Now, to search out some headphone amps!!
-
Couldn't agree more. Go for OBBMs wired solution if you are on a budget! (You do do the instrument and iem combo cable don't you?)
How does the wired solution work? Still plug a unit into an aux channel? then you are wired from the unit to your ears rather than from a receiver?
Some one used to sell this illegal brand through Amazon last year and I reported them to Offcom. Apparently Offcom regularly check the likes of Ebay etc for illegal wireless equipment offered for sale in the UK and get the adverts stopped and products confiscated. I would steer very clear of cheap illegal wireless kit.
Fair enough. Thanks for the advice Are there any entry level kits you would recommend?

It's a bit of a strange one i must admit! Worst we've ever had, was in a stone barn in the middle of nowhere, the place had a noise limiter placed up on the rafters, so we could see it. It was green when all was ok. Turned Amber when approaching the limit, when it turned red it completely cut of the electricity to the onstage power. Unbelievable!! We explained to the customers that this could be a serious issue. Dont know what the limit was set at, but i know it was a quiet gig!!
-
I'm using Streamliner 900 through 2 x Focus 112's. Does it all for me at every gig. So much so I'm looking to "downgrade" to a Streamliner 600.
Why downgrade? Is it not better to have the power if needed? Not being stupid here, genuinely interested

Cant imagine doing it on a phone! That must be tough to even see everything
