Does anyone fancy this Gotoh 201 Bridge in Chrome. It comes supplied with fixing screws. It is a direct replacement for a Fender bridge. The bridge was bought for a project but not used. It was screwed on to a precision body briefly but wasn't strung up. A vintage bridge was used instead. The bridge is in 'as new' condition. £30 including posting to the UK.
BTW, I love that colour with the white guard, beautiful. Is it the same colour under the guard, or is it a very aged Oly white?
It does look nice. The colour is ivory and was one of the standard colours at the time.
Already happening, really nice examples of '82 Fullertons (Guitars more than basses, but they will follow), with V00 serials, and all the case candy, in custom colours, are already being marketed at $4000, well over double what they were two years ago even! Thats because the majority can no longer afford the pre-CBS stuff, the same as with 70's stuff, as you said earlier. The added bonus, is that the Fullertons (Earluy ones) are also great guitars, not just collectors pieces. (Not as good as the '82 JV's eh Luke, but still good!) Here's a fine one, $3800 anyone? http://www.gbase.com...-1982-reissue-1
I'm interested to read what Rick says about the '82' Fullertons. I have an 84 precision that would go along with the strat in the picture. I have another precision which is an 83. They are the USA standard offering of the time. I like them for the looks but also for the quality of the instrument. The 82-85 standard series also seemed to me to have their own character as opposed to being a reissue of a former model. It would be nice to think that they will rise in value but I bought them as playing instruments and not as investments. The bass weighs 9.5lbs using the bathroom scale method. The fret wear is minimal - this bass has a lot of playing left in it. I have played this bass and was not aware of any neck dive whatsoever. I'm not well acquainted with Rickenbackers as to what neck profiles they have. All I can say is that it feels very comfortable and familiar to me as a Precision player. I am a dyed-in-the wool Precision fan and have not really considered Ricks before. However, if I had the money for this bass I would certainly be buying it myself.

I am selling this rather nice Burgundyglo 1978 Rickenbacker 4001 on behalf of a very good friend of mine. The bass is in excellent order with the usual wee dings and marks that you would expect from a bass of this age. There are two areas where the paint is worn through to the wood and I include pics of these. It looks to me that the wear on the front of the bass has been added by a previous owner who has anchored his/her finger on the top in order to play with the thumb. This mark has been caused by natural wear and is not a ding. This bass has been played very little for many years as my friend is a guitar player and only used the Rick on the odd occasion when he was asked to provide bass playing duties. The asking price is £1230 which includes delivery and p&p. The robust case in the pics is also included in the sale.

I'm looking at the decal of this bass and thinking that something is not quite right. The case also looks weird. The top horn is longer than standard. Apparently it makes the bass balance better. Have a look here: http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/basses/longhornjazz.htm
13th Note is indeed a cool bar. I cut my teeth in there in a new band a few years ago. That gig went down extremely well.
I have happy memories of being a 'roadie' for my sons' bands at the 13th Note. One night the band played the 13th Note and then immediately after the gig hurtled through to Edinburgh to play a late slot at Whistlebinkies. I was knackered for about two days! -
Fender USA Precision Standard. No better bass. Nothing even comes close. Accept no substitute. Respect no copies. Strap on and rock.
Got to agree with the Dark Lord here. I've had Mexican, Japanese, and USA. For me it has to be USA.
Glasgow is fantastic. I suggest a wonder down Ashton lane. The bar linked with the Grosvner Cinema is fantastic and there is a burger place just next door called ketchup (I think).
Ashton Lane is one of my very favourite places.
Don't listen to him he's clearly been on the Buckfast j/k mate honest. I've never been but will do one day I hope It's just the same as wherever I go outside of Liverpool people crack jokes about us being robbing bastards. Which is quite true by the way
JayPH, my daughter-in-law is a scouser and you won't find better folk on the face of the earth - they remind me of Glaswegians! -

Wait a minute here. Just wait a minute. Glasgow is one of the greatest cities on earth. There is no other city in the UK in which I would rather live. I say this because I have lived in Glasgow and suburbs for 45 years. The people are marvellous. All those cliches that are being tramped out here could be applied to any UK city. Glasgow is a great place to be. -

I took delivery of my 83 Precision yesterday and it is marvellous. If folks could get access to these 82-85 Precisions and see and feel the quality for themselves they may well realise that late 70s precisions are overpriced in comparison. I'm not saying that late 70s basses aren't good but IMHO opinion the 82-85 era are better basses (and usually much lighter). The price of this bass is extremely fair. Someone should take the plunge and buy it, they won't regret it.
