1.
OK, so I'm in the wrong about flipping, I have a choice not to buy, I'm not going to get an original 53 P for the £150 or whatever it cost in 1953. My bugbear is somebody buying a P on FEEBay for £665 and putting it on here the next day at £1000. His 7th such move in a year. That is tantamount to trading and sorry, I find it a bloody insult. I certainly don't ask for mates rates. If it's just above what I think something is worth, I will offer a little below. If it's what i would be happy to pay, I will pay that. Thank Christ at long last I am almost GAS free (I need to get back to 4 basses before she twigs my world didn't end at three) Mean while, back at how long would you wait?
I'm with you on this. I don't think BC is a place for traders which is what it is if someone passes a bass on in a matter of days for a siginificant profit.
2. If that finish is brown burst (which I think it may well be) then there is every possibility that this is a genuine 83 P Bass. The white pup covers are also a clue. However, the butchery that has gone on here diminishes my soul to the extent that I am now going to have a lie down in a darkened room with a cold compress pressed to my brow.
3. I never get tired listening to a Jamerson bassline. Thanks for posting.
4.
Metal housing instead of plastic, 200ft range instead of 100ft (Though both of these are underestimated), and 12 channels instead of the 6 that G30 has, and the G50 reciever has a more reliable connector. Liam
Thanks Liam.
5.
As soon as i can afford one, there's a G50 going on my pedalboard.
What does the G50 do that the G30 doesn't do? I'm genuinely interested as I only want to buy once.
6. You see, what I don't understand is that if you want an appraisal then why have two threads? It looks a nice bass. It sounds like a nice bass. I guess it must be a nice bass. Whatever is going on then I reckon slab66 has got himself a very serviceable p bass that is a bit different.

slab66

Two threads on the same bass? Is one intended for the 'for sale' section. I'm confused.
8. You already have these basses on other 'for sale' threads. It would be a good idea to delete the other threads as things will just get confusing. It is also unfair to those who have only posted a 'for sale' thread once.
9. Wow Michael! Another celebrity bass player on Basschat! Well done you!
10. That was one of the early walkabout scouts. It has sockets for passive and active as opposed to a switch. I had one of these and had problems with it as did many folk who had early models. Mine was evenutally replaced by a brand new model which has been just hunky-dory ever since. So don't worry about missing this combo, it may have a problem anyway. Feel better?
11. It is very heavy. However, it is fitted with wheels which makes moving it around a bit easier.
12. I found this rather nice 2x12 combo lurking in a corner underneath the stage in my church hall. Goodness knows how long it's been there. Nobody seems to know anything about how it got there. So, I have no problem in putting into action that old saying: 'Finders keepers....' It's a product of the Maine Electronics Company of England. It calls itself the Miane 12/60 Bass. I am therefore assuming it is 60 watts. The photos are really self-explanatory. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the footswitch with it. I'm wondering if another typr of footswitch would work with it? The three sockets on the back are: External speaker. Internal Speaker? and Booster?. I've plugged in a precision and it is mighty powerful. As you would expect the controls are a bit crackly which already are begiinning to sound better the more they are used. I have to admit that I like the sound I'm getting from this thing, It's very growly, not best suited perhaps for the Blues. However, that is only after noodling about a bit this afternoon. As time goes on I'll mess around with it to see what sounds I can get. I was wondering if anybody has any experience of these combos. It would be great to hear from you. 13.
I think these are the ones that the 2012 range come in.
Thanks Lozz!
14. Does anyone know anything about these cases. They seem to be new on the market. I don't know if they are now the standard issue or just an alternative for those wishing to buy a case. http://www.thomann.d...t_case_bass.htm
15. It's probably MIM.
16.
No it isn't!
Oh yes it is!
17. The debate is just really going round and round now. We've all made our point. Agreement is never going to happen but it's good to banter back and forth!
18. I know that it is all down to personal opinion but I just wonder if enough people say enough times that Fenders have quality control issues then it will become a generally accepted fact. For myself, I think that the current range of Fender guitars and basses display excellent quality control. Mind you, I didn't have much problem with the previous offerings either (apart from late 70s) but the current product is first class considering how many are made each day. This, I emphasise, is only my humble opinion.
19.
Lots of drivel on here from the Fender haters. I've had countless Fender basses and nearly as many guitars. Virtually all USA models - and never had a problem. I have the money to buy whatever I like ..... and I buy Fender. The way some of these guys are spouting tosh on here, you'd think that every Fender hanging in every shop was sub-standard. Not at all. There is a reason why the overwhelming majority of basses you will see on stage, or in a pub near you, have either Fender or Squier on the headstock. It's because they are good and the bass players of this world like them. Let the haters prattle on. Poor chaps. I'm sure their lives will get better some day.
Yes, yes, and yes! The Dark Lord speaketh well and true.
20. I can testify that this bass is an absolute cracker. Beautiful wood and very playable.
21. Hey Sccoby! Have you forgotten to post the link for the pics?
22. Here's a nice clip of Pino. Nice homely feel to it. He does just enough to make the bassline groove and fit in beautifully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyCv4NG7SsE
23. I still want to know if the P comes with the covers already fitted. From the description in the specs it looks as if they are already screwed on. Mind you, it's all academic as I can't afford one anyway. However, who knows what the future may bring.
