Very very favourably! I haven’t had them side-by-side yet, tomorrow evening….maybe I’ll do a little video, and they do have very different strings fitted (flats on Moollon, tapes on the MVP4). Build wise there’s not really much between them at all, the MV has the roasted maple vs the vintage tint maple of the Moollon, so depends what aesthetic you prefer, and the Moollon is a very thin Nitro finish compared to the poly finish of the MV, but other than those differences, the fundamental quality is essentially the same I’d say. Well funny you say that, the website spec says Indian Rosewood, but it is very dark (it’s lovely), so wondering if it is Ebony, need to confirm with them! Ebony works great on vintage spec instruments as it does look like aged Brazilian Rosewood, it’s what my Moollon has too. Si

Definitely not, custom colous always look better with mint/white guards to me. Tort for Olympic White and Sunburst only please! 😊 Si

This arrived a couple of days ago direct from Modern Vintage (Rob Elrick & John Files), but I wanted the La Bella Black Nylons on and the bass setup before I posted it. So far I love it, fantastically built bass, sounds great and a neck finish, feel and shape to die for! Loving the finish too, really nice vintage Shell Pink colour with matching headstock! Si

From what I gather, the HB-30's are quite rare at the moment, not many about at all (none I can see in the UK anyway). Certainly they're a much smaller body to the Starfire, more akin to the Mustang, but obviously deeper. I kinda see the HB-30 sitting directly in between the Mustang and the Starfire..... I'd probably buy the HB-30, because i'm a Lakland fan, but the Starfires are very cool Si

Just picked up some KZ-ZS10 Pro in-ear monitors for £42 from Amazon. 5 driver per side, very impressed with them for the price!

These are excellent - very detailed sound and comfortable to wear. I've used some of the packaging to store them in a small plastic box in my gig box.

Yeah, and I think they may well pick up some business from Moollon, as the latter (as amazing as they are, I'm lucky to have one) have been hit by pandemic delays and waits on new builds are sitting at 1-2 years I think. Si

Yeah makes sense. Would be great if they could have that as an option though, changing the global footswitch setting per preset. Would allow me to set up different settings/patches/scenes (whatever you want to call them) for different bands properly, some I want the tuner on a footswitch, some I have the tuner separately and use all the FS's for effects. Almost certainly just a firmware update, but I can work around it as suggested Cheers Si

Very exciting! I also have one on the way, fingers crossed it will arrive with me this week! I think it's probably time that we move away from this 'far eastern = cheaply built" mindset. Sure that's true in some cases, but these are highly spec'd, low-order-quantity basses, they're not building hundreds at a time, far from it I believe. They're designed by Rob Elrick I think, and so John Files (of Sonata Marketing) and Rob are not going to settle for any old cheap factory knocking them out! Si

Not sure about this, but have something on the way, and should probably stick to the numbers I have at the moment haha. Plus my passive US 44-94 basically does the same job. Lakland USA 44-64 Classic in a Black/Black/Maple vibe. Also comes with white and grey tortoiseshell pickguards options. In excellent condition, no nicks or bumps that I can see. Currently setup and playing beautifully with La Bella RX Steels 45-105 Comes with the original Lakland Hardcase. Full spec - https://www.lakland.com/product/classic-series-44-64/ Nut width is: 1.75″ Weight is: 3.86kg Priced to sell at £1700 £1650 Cash is king - However I could be open to part-ex's of a lesser value, around £700 or less, with cash my way of course. I think the answer is no, but with the HX Stomp, anyone know if it’s possible to have one patch with the 3rd footswitch as an effect switch, then switch to another patch where the 3rd footswitch changes to the tuner? Cheers Si

SOLD I have a spare set of Bart MK-1 soapbars and the MK-1 3band Preamp, these came from a Lakland 55-01 when it was upgraded. £60 for everything including shipping. These are for a 5 string bass. Please note that I do not have a wiring diagram, so whilst 90% of it is pre-wired, I had to cut some grounds and obviously disconnect the pickups from the Pre. So you'll either need some decent electronics knowledge to know what goes where, find a wiring diagram for yourself (Bartolini might be able to help), or take to a tech obviously. Everything is included, pickups, preamp, pots, input jack etc. Can take more photos if you like, but not much to see. The pickups are in good condition, some finger marks as you'd expect. Everything in working order (ie was working perfectly when before they exited the bass) Cheers Si -
First gig back tomorrow! Pretty low pressure, but still.....from someone who used to gig, at the minimum, once a week....I'm a bit anxious haha. Excited too though!
