  1. I'm actually in for basses this year! There's a chance I'll want to buy another amp (if the company releases it soon.....inside knowledge), but we'll see. I think I might also need to replace a broken envelope pedal, but that'll be within the rules. But yes....no basses for sure! Si
  2. Yeah that’s my go-do Bart setup, I’ve had it on 3 separate basses, one of which is my current Lakland 55-01. I love it. Modern and deep yet versatile. The HR/918 is just the Pre-wired harness that includes the NTMB pre. Si
  3. Bartolini Dual Coil soapbars and NTMB+F preamp. Done and done! Si
  4. (meant as the nicest possible jibe ☺️) Si
  5. Find one of the Squire P5’s, very well thought of and covers both your requirements. Boom Si
  6. So Daphne or Sonic Blue perhaps!? Si
  7. If it’s sub 9lbs than that’s relatively rare for a Skyline I’d say. Basically someone should snap it up, put a tort scratchplate on it, and enjoy one of the best P basses for that kinda money. Si
  8. The Grace Jones remix album ‘Hurricane Dub’ is also excellent from a ‘getting into dub via pop music’ type angle. Si
  9. I think at that point, the only 'standard' colour was Sunburst. There's a point of contention as to whether Oly White was standard or 'Custom'....but yeah....it ain't white either haha Si
  10. I mean....that's still between 1-3 million people haha. Si
  11. *The fact that you feel the need to explain humour, as if you have access to some universal truth that others do not, while ignoring your lack of ability to 'apply' that humour (presenting it in written form, that allows for no emotive/face to face context, to an audience that hasn't overtly subscribed to your way of thinking) makes me feel safe in the knowledge that it wasn't a good joke. Cheers Si *All the above is an extremely funny joke that you might not understand because it's applied so well.
  12. Ridiculous sweeping statement that you MUST know is untrue?! Any preference/ideology has it's militant arm, the same way that it also has it's quiet 'just get on with it' contingent. I suspect that a lot of people know more vegans than they realise......because most don't bang on about it like a few think they do. Si
  13. Yeah I've been looking at Right-On for a little while. While I'm not strictly vegan, i increasingly feel weird about leather straps, although I appreciate that my current ones are reconstituted leather. I suspect that as and when they wear out, I'll be going down the Right-On route. How do you find the width on yours @Boodang? I think they're about an inch narrower than my current ones, and that gives me a mild pause for thought. Cheers Si
  14. I mean, there are vegan folk who are excellent singers and carnivores who 'screech like Yoko Ono'.....what's your point? Also, Yoko Ono wasn't/isn't vegan, so weird reference. Si
  15. It mostly sounds like you think there's maybe 1 or 2 vegans in the world 😂 Si
  16. More's the pity Si
  17. Imagine the day when there's a Fodera thread and no-one mentioned Fedoras.......just imagine 🤔 Si
  18. So just to be clear, it’s a new Fender Nate Mendel neck? Or made by someone else and made to look the part? Cheers Si
  19. .....but at the potential expense of all other aspects of a tone and feel that might not like or be appropriate for the music they play? I'm with WoT on this.....probably not a thing. I find that different basses want different strings (obviously that sits within our personal preference for things). I had flats on my passive P/J Lakland 44-94 for a while, it sounded fine, but wasn't right.....I couldn't tell you why. Put some roundwounds on it, boom, perfect. Similar excercise with my 1971 Precision, it had rounds on it for a little while when I first got it.....wasn't right, but some flats on it....boom, perfect. My 55-01 had rounds on it for a bit, horrible.....put some tapewounds on it, boom, perfect. To that end, I would suggest that all players, if they consider that a certain string isn't working for them, don't be all 'naaa flats/rounds are bad', just think that they might not be right for that particular bass. Si
  20. My Moollon P-Classic was an excellent bass, but I've just had it properly set-up and now it's just even more wonderful!! 🙌

  21. 55-01 all set up with some new ‘Lemon Lime Delight’ tapewounds from La Bella. US Bartolini Dual Coils and NTMB preamp give this bass a boutique sound and feel IMO. Si
  22. Sims will be able to do it for you! Not the cheapest, but I think they already have the 44-64 template, so should be quick and easy. Totally agree on white/sunburst, it’s a combo that NRVER looks good, tort or black on sunburst (and not red tort 🤢). Si
  23. Yup, love them, best in the business IMO. I have US Barts (ie not MK1's etc) in my Elrick and Lakland 5 strings. Also waiting on an order of their B-Axis P/J pickups to go in my Lakland 4 string. Si
  24. Horray for New Lakland Day! Si
  25. Absolutely! Very glad to have it back! Si
