Great gig in east London last night, nothing particulaly special about the gig itself, played the venue a LOT, same old gear ('73 Jazz/Orange/Ashdown). It was just one of those times when everything just clicks, great tone, felt free in my playing, the whole band was nailing it.......loved it Si
Wags?
Hey it was a semi-serious question lol! My gf wanted to come, I assured her that she'd be bored silly, but thought I'd ask anyway Si -
I was gonna post this as one of the vids of his that I really liked: Did a quick search and realised its the Four Brothers tune that was spoken about earlier......I thought it was just an improvised groove! Great though Si

Are there any WAGS going? Si -
They've just sent me a landscape Compact cover too.....after I specified portrait....slightly annoying, but seeing as I haven't got the cab yet, not too big a deal lol. We'll see how they respond Si

I have for sale a '69-'73 bridge (long G intonation screw) for sale, with screws. Some small rust, but in working order. Ebay seem to always be around £180ish, so lets say [s]£130[/s] £120 Also one of the more rare maroon coloured tumbrests, no screws, Very good condition - [s]£40[/s] £35 It's difficult to see the hue of the thumbrest, but it's most definitely a maroon one! Cheers Si
Whereas,I prefer instrumental music.
Exactly, tis what makes this all so interesting.....life I mean Si
-
I should probably point out that I'm only basing my opinion on the 606 gig that I saw....nothing from that gig made me want to listen further to his songs....it was just a night of technically talented music to me....maybe I'll suck it up and assume he's a grower, give it some more listens. Instrumental music has to REALLY impress me, I'm all about great vocals! Si
-
I suppose it's also the difference between writing songs and writing music! Si
-
Janek's a funny one for me!, obviously an incredibly talented musician (fantastic chordal knowledge), but I saw him at the 606 club, and although there were great chops and ideas.....I didn't find it very musical. I certainly didn't remember any tunes or melodies coming away from the gig. Having said that, his groove playing is great, his bassday lessons on bassplayer.tv are cool, and there's some cool r&b type clinic playing vids on YouTube! Horses for courses though innit, each to their own, boring if we all thought the same etc etc Keep it friendly Si

My band Shallow And The Deep is putting on a club night in High Wycombe this friday (12th Nov). If anyone is of the Hip Hop/Drum N Bass/Dubstep etc persuasion......come on down. There'll be DJ's, live Graffiti, and us headlining £6 or £5 NUS Si
Octave is always going to be the D&B friend. I have 3 presets, but mostly use octave down with no original signal. Flavoured with soft chorus. That's the mainstaple of my sound.
Just reading back through the thread and saw this......couldn't agree with you more...as I've put above Si
-
Love that last vid! Some amazing ideas and techniques! I'm getting into all this with my Dub-steppy Hiphop band, slightly limited funds (no double Mooger Froogers and Moog bass pedals for me)....but its fun anyway. I've found the best tool at my disposal so far is the OC-2 with no direct signal (obviously playing an octave higher than you normally would), some chorus on it, sounds very dub! Si
-
Nice one buddy. Maybe I should drop the guy an email Si
-
Lower the pickup on the bass side slightly? Si
-
Sorry....just re-read your post Umph and you do mention a "pot in series".....so yes a knob as I put it haha. I assume the pot you mention is to change the level of the gate? Cheers Si
-
Ok, I think that makes sense. For clarity, the pedal will have less gain ability?....so you'd have to turn up the gain to achieve the same level pre-mod?! Ummm, what if you wanted to attenuate the gate via an added control-knob? Si
-
You're talking to a layman here lol What would be the pro's of what you're suggesting over a standard gate mod? Cheers Si
-
Just did a quick google and found this: Is this all it is? (said as if I know what it means): "Noise gate mod: This mod will quieten the Muff while not playing, thus a noise gate. To do this, add a 100k trimpot (wired as a variable resistor) parallel to the 100k to ground of the second gain stage (R14). The trimpot can be adjusted to taste to get the max noise gate effect." I'm guessing I can get my dad to do it (electronics professional)?! Anyone tried it? Si
-
Ummm, pretty much what the title says really. I've got a Big Muff, that I love the sound of, but wouldn't mind adding a gate function to it. Anyone know it it's possible, or anyone who can do it? Cheers Si
