Yes, please put a definitive price on this asap otherwise we will remove the advert Surprised this hasn't been said before, but that is the forum rule! Cheers Si
2. Still love this.....just bad timing Si
3. The bridge pickup on my 1983 Jazz Bass seems to be really weak/quiet and as a result the neck pickup seems very boomy and over-powering. At first I simply thought "well I'll just drop some Wizards in", because thats what are in my 1973 Jazz (albeit custom winds) and I really like them. Then I thought that if it's just the bridge pickup that is just under-powered, I could just have it re-wound. So.....Is there a way that I can measure the outputs of the pickups while they're still in the bass? I have a meter, but I'm a bit of a layman when it comes to things like that Any suggestions? Si
4. Yes, afraid you'll have to post a LOT more details to get people interested Good luck though Si
5. Christmas day bump Off to play Cluedo :-D Si
6.
In terms of a band, and the music industry.. let's be honest, that is BS!.. People are judged. Sometimes it benefits you, other times it doesn't. It's not a job in a county council
+1000 Let the guys search for the bass player they want!. If you don't agree with the spec, chances are you wouldn't want to be in the band! Si
7. Ummmm: - Barefaced Compact......but that doesn't really count as I've already paid a deposit, and it's nearly ready I think lol - I've an idea for a Shuker build....maybe in the summer if the idea is still sound Other than that, I love what I have Si
8. Looks like a really nice specimen!! Would love it to match my '73......but alas, won't happen any time soon! Good luck buddy, maybe if its still about next year lol Si
9. Do people not use mobile telephones anymore?? I'd love to come visit at some point, but its a little off the beaten track for me.....one day Si

Andy is totally fine now (the issue with playing live is well documented), still writing and recording lots, a rather prolific writer really. I hung out with him a fair bit when I was dating his daughter a couple of years ago, a more stand-up guy there could not be . Some amazing tunes, although I prefer the middle to late career! Check out the Fuzzy Warbles collections! Si
11. Yes I very much doubt I'll be getting to mine tonight!! Hopefully Monday's will fair better! Si

Sold.

I don't see why this thread would leave anyone 'uncomfortable'?! A problem arrose, the seller asked 'how the buyer wanted to proceed', I assume a refund would have been an option, buyer accepted the bass as a repair/restore job......sorted Case closed Si
13. I used to tune C standard....so C, F, Bb, Eb I used high tension Newtone custom strings (around same price as Elites/DR's etc) I told them my tuning, and my preferred guage (which was 45-105) and they made them for me! Simples Had similar tension to that of a standard tuned bass, with a similar action. Its all about tension (core size), not guage! Try Newtone Strings Si p.s. I have no affiliation, I just think they're spot on!
14. Very nice! I wonder how much that cost! Si
15. Everyone is just gonna recommend what they use lol....so I'll stick with that! I love my US Fender Standard Jazz 5, stunning bass and no need for silly batteries Si
16. A beauty to behold! Good luck buddy Si

23.
I think Ellie's version is really nice. Embrace the pop!
+1 People tend to shoot-down what they perceive to be 'Sell-outs' without ever having been in a similar position nor knowing the intimate details.....oh well . Also, was Ellie's cover done FOR the supermarket, or simply covered by Ellie and licensed early by them?....does anyone know?, probably not Si
24. That first picture is the best photo ever.....well....today anyway Si
