If you do decide to go with something Focusrite flavoured, I'm always available (in the Recording forum only) with my 'Focusrite Technical Support' hat on if you should ever need any help. Cheers Si

If you want a Shimmer, doesn't get much better than the Mr Black Eterna. The EQD Afterneath is also awesome for modulated madness Si
I may be doing a bit of Maruszczyk-shaped trugger-pulling in the next couple of days. We'll see...
You're not allowed to until mine is finished Si

I owned a 44-02 Deluxe for a little while, and was thoroughly underwhelmed by it. Lovely figured top, average neck, very plain maple fingerboard. Bartolini pickups and a preamp which was just very polite. So I wouldn't hurry to own that side of the project range again. That said, I am always intrigued with the passive 'Fender'-alike side of the range, strangely I very much like their over-sized, faux clay fingerboard dots. Seen Dave Bronze play a few times recently, and his Lakland Jazz (not sure on model) always sounds awesome! Si

Over the last 5 years or so there definitely has been a air of "if it's not true bypass, it's crap" ethos, not really based on anything tbh. Obviously silly when consider pedals like the Darkglass B7K is buffered, Put simply, if you have a pedalboard with only true bypass pedals, the total length of all your patch cables is added to your instrument cable length to determine the total cable length between your bass and amp. Super long cables are the biggest cause of signal degradation. If you place a buffered pedal such as a Boss, somewhere in your chain, because the way impedance works, it effectively acts as if the start of your signal chain is from that buffered pedal, therefore reducing any signal loss etc. Some people may happen to just have true bypass pedals on their board, and so it's possible to buy a little buffer pedal to put somewhere on your board. I've built a few of these, basically just the Klon buffer section stripped out into a 1590a enclosure. Pretty effective if you don't have a Boss Tuner to hand. Si

The best bass is the one that sits in your hands nicely and allows you to play the bass parts well. There really is no make/model that is 'better' for a genre than others. Case in point: Tina Turner's some-time bass player, Warren Mcrae plays ESP, even seen him with an F-Series (usually seen with the likes of Cradle Of Filth, Chthonic etc) Martín Méndez from Opeth plays a Fender Marcus Miller signature 4 string bass. Sounds great! Si
. Did see Richard Bona, little dissapointing, maybe wasn't his day.
Really? That's surprising! What was lacking? I've seen him about 7 times and was outstanding everytime Si

Saw Caspian a couple of weeks ago who are just excellent every time. Great instrumental 'post-rock' tunes, and just every instruments tone is perfect, which is always touch live. Also saw a full rendition of Tubular Bells friday just gone, including some other Mike Oldfield classics. TB was good, but they also performed Sentinel from TB2, which was flawless and quite moving! 25 piece band, all reading it! :-O Si

So today is the 'deadline' for my 10 week wait Hopefully i'll be receiving the finished email soon, maybe sometime this week, excited Si
As I mentioned earlier, he plays like this with his band...
Well then he'll learn quickly which bands like it and those that don't Si

Very good drummer with great facility! If you can't discern the difference between how he might play on a gig vs how he's playing on a clinic style drum promo, then give up YouTube and stick with your live gig dvds! That way you're spreading less negativity about someone and their, clearly evident, abilities. Who the hell wants to watch someone play the actual Thriller drum part on a video without the rest of the band?! Lol Si

I ordered mine blind simply because I trust WoTs appraisal of them, largely because we both came from playing early 70's Fenders. Si

I think D'Addario are having a bit of a Bass resurgence in the UK at the moment, or certainly that's my perception of it. From where I'm sitting, that's a lot to do with Andrew. So thanks to Andrew and D'addario for taking interest in the 'grass roots' and small artist bassists Still rocking D'addario on my medium scale Jazz and '71 Precision. Will soon be stringing my upcoming Maruszczyk with them too. My Fodera is for sale, so may not last long enough to see D's as I have two sets of Fodera strings to pop on first, but who knows, would be an ace combo! Si
