1. Very nice! Si
2. Hi all, Bit of a last minute one, but my Math Rock/Gypsy Jazz type instrumental 3-piece, Corybantic, is opening up the proceedings at the Sebright arms this evening (Friday). If you're at a loose end, pop down. Let me know if you are and I can put you the £5 guestlist: Demos: http://corybantic.bandcamp.com/releases http://symptomaticpresents.com/symptomatic/listings/20151106-sebrightarms/ Si
3. Nice, looks a bit like Foderas Imperial II (2) Si
4.
I still would though.
Cool contribution man, I do imagine that's why she did it. Note: Her new album concept revolves around her taking on a different 'persona', even if it was weird for someone to 'look different' between albums, this might explain an element of it for those that it troubles/takes up brain space. I like what I've heard of the new album, but the 'no hook' argument kinda doesn't make sense to me. Not all music is centered around hooks, pop (popular) music is, but this isn't that . Si
5.
Makes no difference to me who is performing - it's a cracking day out regardless, assuming I can get the ankle tag off for a few hours.
This! Si
6. Thanks very much for the comparison, very interesting! Si
7.
I am in ... sputnik :-)
Very nice! Really interested to know how this directly compares to your Fodera?! Si
8.
Cool, there's one that I'm looking at right now, it's perfect but there's one thing I don't like and that's the pickguard. You think if I sent them an email they'd let me buy it and put a mirror pickguard on it?
Almost certainly (If they do mirror guards) Si
9. Stunning example!! Si
10. Lots of basses with humbuckers in the neck/central position will do an approximation of a Precision. But truly, if you want a Motown sound, buy a Precision with Flats......they're common because that's how you nail the tone. Si
11. Absolutely stunning, GLWTS Si
12.
Oh my god. Sibob... here it is
Do it!! Sell that Monarch Si
13. Why would you put the sound difference down to one being MIM & one being MIA? You're comparing a Precision to a Jazz, the P will always be deeper and fuller! Plus, yes, DI will always sound thinner compared to a mic'd cab, never record just with a DI.......unless you have a really nice tube DI. But still, I'd want some cab to mix in! Si
14. Hi all, < Focusrite representative hat on > Has anyone here purchased a Scarlett Studio or iTrack Studio package? (with the Interface, Mic & Headphones) If so, have you had any issues with the Mic clip breaking? More specifically the tightening screw shearing off? If so, please contact me asap as I would like to get hold of your broken clip assuming you have all the parts available. If you have not received one already, you would obviously receive a new clip. This is a long-shot I know, but would help. Many thanks Simon // Focusrite Technical Support
15.
If only they were on Spotify
Just buy the albums Si
16. Plus any song by Tool (Aenima (1996) -present) Si
17.
Thanks for the link to the interview. He's an amazing player, and it's quite scary when you see him, no denying who's son he is. I was a little disappointed with the Yelllow jackets album though.
I know what you mean about the YellowJackets album, but I think that's just the vibe of the group. I came to that album after listening to Felix in the Social Experiment and the Mu'Tet, which are both a lot more progressive and to my tastes. Thanks for reading guys Si
18. Hi all, Really happy to present an interview with Felix Pastorius on my blog: http://simonpoulton.tumblr.com/post/131437468373/interview-with-felix-pastorius You can also read my past interviews with bassists such as Liam Wilson (Dillinger Escape Plan), Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch), Nick Sollecito (The Dear Hunter), Gabe Nelson (Cake), Adam Burton (Arcane Roots), Jim Creeggan (Barenaked Ladies), Owen Biddle (Mister Barrington), in the archive here: http://simonpoulton.tumblr.com/archive Cheers Si
19. I did a Knightfall 66 demo ages ago if that sways anyone http://youtu.be/Mv0oqDxP6_I Si
20. I think that all things being equal, the body shape has zero effect on tone :-P Si
21. My mrs and I were in NYC this April just gone and we fell in love with Brooklyn! Welcome to Basschat! Si
22. I wouldn't worry about it Bilbo, just wait until David discovers Fodera lol Si
23. I would put the ACG posted above in exactly the same category as the Wal posted above, hand-built, boutique basses. The spec is different because different people ordered them. I wouldn't touch either of them but I wouldn't start a thread centered around the fact that not many people complain about the brands. Go practice the bass people lol Si
24. Yup, just spec exactly the measurements you want. Perhaps an Elwood (Jazz) dimension neck on a Jake body would be better for you, perhaps a 33" or 32"scale length, no extra charge for each of those spec changes Si
