Whilst there are lots of amazing Precision basses out there (this thread is a little like 'Which family car is best'), I can comment on my experience with ordering from Maruszczyk. Adrian will be your point of contact, and whilst there is a slight language/translation barrier and some short answers every now and then, Adrian is so incredibly helpful and fast at replying he's a true credit to the brand! He has made the process very quick and easy. My build has been 13weeks and 3 days from deposit paid to arriving with me (tomorrow), a little longer than most of a similar spec on here, but I did have some non-standard custom options. From a customer service and ease of use point of view, couldn't recommend them enough. I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on it, I'm confident it'll be great though as, like Michael, I'm coming from a '71 Precision. The other suggestions I'd have are: - Find an awesome 70's Precision - Get a Mike Lull (not tried a bad one) Both those options cost more than the Maruszczyk, but will be awesome Si

Clearing out some more pedals and found this clean boost I built into an enclosure painted by my mate. Unfortunately there are some nicks and little scratches to the finish. 125B sized enclosure (same size as a Boss pedal), but with top mounted jacks. Nice large control. Clean inside, all quality components (Alpha switch, switchcraft jacks etc) Poultone branded PCB (laid out by me) SOLD Cheers Si

Build one yourself for £35 http://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Fat_Furry_Freak_-_bass_fuzz_monster_-_board-mounted_pots/p847124_13048100.aspx If you can solder that is Si

I think we're done here Cheers all Si
I find it interesting/annoying that we have to pay to sell items. I'm a member of a few forums and BC is only forum where you have to pay. Bah humbug!!
Maybe sell your bass on those forums then, or ebay? Si

Adrian says it weighs 7.3 lbs :-D Si
Thanks for that, nice to read an interview that poses relevant questions across a range of topics rather than just focusing on the promotion of an artist's latest venture which seems so prevalent in magazine and tv interviews.
Thanks for the kind words Si
I think the Hendrix comparison is pretty much spot on. For me I'd say they're both a bit like a Ferrari Daytona - the modern equivalent has obviously progressed significantly and is more sophisticated and refined and even a modern family hatchback (or bedroom YouTube bassist if you will) can outperform it in many areas. The original however just has something - call it mojo if you like - that is harder to recreate. Personally, being more into rock than jazz, I find Jimi more accessible than Jaco but that's probably more down to genre than playing. That said I'm quite liking his son Felix's playing right now!
Felix is a hell of a player! I recently did an email with him if of interest: http://simonpoulton.tumblr.com And yes, Jaco was really all that, his facility was incredible, his composition and ear was amazing too. Do I like his entire output, no of course not. There's a few videos of him playing Piano too, beautiful playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBhoDaS5SKQ Si

Totally and utterly subjective. It could be argued that the early 60's era is the best for quality control, but I've still never played a 60's Precision to beat my '71 P Not sure I'd touch an 80's Fender, unless it was one of the Japanese 'vintage' series ones. Si
Really diggin' that colour. Great choice. Could you specify that the headstock only had the logo too? I think that looks really smart.
Yes you can specify that as an option, just the 'M' logo and no text And yes, someone else asked, pickups are fully configurable, placement, size, casing, everything. Quite amazing really. Si

Thanks guys, yes it's a beauty isn't it. I wasn't sure about the black pick guard when I ordered it, I had a more vintage white idea in my head (but couldn't find the colour from Adrians examples), but now I know the black was exactly the right choice. The fingerboard is Rosewood, but I specified as dark as possible. There's bound to be some light in the photo effecting it, but it almost looks ebony, which is perfect! Adrian has been amazing to deal with, incredibly helpful and patient! It should hopefully arrive this week, typically just after I have another 6 hour session on my arm tattoo.....so will only get to play it fully next week when I'm healed lol Si
Si, will you compare it to your Fodera's? (I think it's you that has a couple of those, right?)
I have one Fodera, a Matt Garrison Standard (that is currently for sale). This Jake doesn't really compare to that spec at all apart from the 33" scale. Effectively that's what I was after though, a bridge between the Fodera and my '71 Precision Si

Can you guys stop ordering so mine gets finished please? Si

So you don't like it then? How do you find playing on the top 7 frets, the bolt-on heel looks a little restrictive? Beautiful piece of construction though! Si
Same. But different They track the same although I'd hazard the nano tracks better. The nano is voiced slightly differently to my ears, less chirp and a brighter maybe crisper sound. I prefer it to my micro muchly and have no regrets about getting it. Was it worth the upgrade? I think so. Plus it saves on board space.
Cool, thanks! Si
Latest incarnation
How do you find the Nano POG? Compared it to the Micro POG? Si

Nice to see another big box Micro Synth! Whats the red DIY pedal? Si

Mine is currently at 12 weeks, however I did have a chambered body and 33" scale custom options which may have slowed it slightly. Si
