1.
Interview with Juan is the best one yet. Great work as always.
Just saw the retweet by Juan about it..
2. Cult of Luna: and some God Is An Astronaut:
3. First gig was Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Brum Odeon 1984? I was 11.
4. So Rotosound are reissuing the fuzz pedal. Does anyone have any experience of the original one? http://www.rotosoundonline.com/general-news/the-rotosound-fuzz-pedal-its-back/
5.
Wow, live and learn, never seen/heard anything like this before for over an hour. Drop 'B'?
If you ever get chance to see SunnO))) live then do it. If they have Thomas Nieuwenhuizen with them playing his Moogs and BIll Herzog on upright bass then even better!!
6. Can I post the Björk/ Skunk Anansie video again?
7.
Do a metal version of the Bjork song .problem solved ,)
OOh, and opportunity to watch thins again. Björk makes me feel funny when she screams!
8. And a garbage one: I much prefer this version to the original.
9. Bit of a cliche, but
10. SunnO))) live: Turn it up as loud as possible! And some Stephen O'Malley
11. Mark is only 20 mins from my parents, I live 2 hours away though. One day I'll walk in there with more than £60 to spend...
12. Pedal sounds amazing. Video irritated the hell out of me.
13.
I hope my bass doesn't turn any stomachs but if it does, I have more pics.
That is awesome!!! More photos please!
14.
The screens are probably about an inch and a half wide, plenty big enough! They're hard to see in daylight unless you get very close (like trying to read a digital watch with the sun shining on it) but its never caused me any significant problems. Clear as anything at your average venue. And the tuner is very very visible!
You can adjust the contrast to assist with that.
15.
In the context of a thread discussing 'how does the bassist in Tool get his sound and how important is the Wal bass in achieving that sound?', I don't think that the natural non-Eq'd sound of the Wal is of fundamental importance. Essentially, I think Justin Chancellor would still sound like Justin Chancellor if he was using a Musicman, Spector, Sadowsky, Warwick, Fender Precision or any other four string bass tuned D A D G played through his set up.
Kinda proven by the fact he's recorded with Wals, Stingrays and a Thunderbird and sounds pretty much exactly the same.
16.
Is that a wooden pickguard? A little too posh for a basic workhorse like the ATK imho
Probably a bit of wood effect sticky backed plastic... EDIT: Nope, it's rosewood...
17. Goat, again. The album is on spotify. It's the 2nd best album released in 2012 so far! Goat – World Music
18. Justin also used Stingrays for some Aenima stuff. As thodrik mentions other bassists have a similar sound without the Wal. Jeff Caxide used a Stingray, check out any of the track's on Isis' Wavering Radiant.
19. A collection of British built basses?
20. Could it be that, non musician, collectors like instruments to display on walls. An amp wouldn't have the same 'wow' factor to them. e.g. A big black box with knobs on isn't as exciting to them as a Gilmour Strat. Years ago I picked up a Trace Elliot MP11 that had, apparently, been used by Entwistle in his tour rig. It cost £99. Don't have it any more though... :-(
21. Ah, like this? This looks much nicer: ATK800, not on the Ibanez website. (unless I'm looking at the wrong region)
22. This one? It's only the prestige model with the neck pickup I normally like Ibanez stuff, but this is just dull. For a Prestige model it looks really cheap.
23. Now playing: Earth - Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars
24. Using samples creatively is just as hard as writing any other form of music.
