1. DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...!!!!!! Did not see this coming...!!!
2. Have to say this seems an odd match to me..
3. Get a Thunderfunk... best small amp out that I've tried, IMV. weighs 20 odd lbs IIRC. and well worth the weight.
4. I did not know that...!!
5. see which one has the sexiest stuff IN STOCK that you can play on..as opposed to advertising it as such but ...................
6. Look like a nice rig to me... I'd be tempted to play that until you find it s shortcomings.....and I doubt a combo will outperform it without an etn cab anyway tbh. Keep it, would be my advice. unless it is so heavy and unmanageable beyond belief..
7.
I thought you had to be on acid to get to 25 oclock? Anyway, I take it "making it" means worldwide stardom and the money to go with it, or is it the more humble tradesmans wage of a touring originals band ?
Not in my book..a jobber doesn't count as making it.. Seliing a few mill in sales and retiring mid 30's latest.... like Steps did..apparently..
8. As for being popular....??? no idea about it, really. We haven't ever played to empty pubs but fail to see what other bands have when they crash the place...!!! Maybe we are nobby no-mates and it is a long slog getting ourselves about.. P.S we are crap at FB and the like..
9. ha ha miss that.... happy birthday BigRedX
10. It seems you need to upgarde everything...?? So, split £1000 like this. Spend £400 on here and get the best bass you can for that money. The rest put towards a decent combo. Or spend more on the bass and get a TE combo off e-bay. TE might be road worn and have done some miles but bang for buck...as good as it gets ..if half decent, IMO.
11.
The other issue with the 40+ age group is most of the people this age who like going to see live music have settled down, with kids and houses and can't be arsed or afford to go out and see bands anymore. Thus making it more frustating for those still playing as they play to a venue of 3 people. Plus there are less venues these days having live music or original bands. Its just more things stacked up against bothering.
This is quite true in our case. We play a range of stuff but I guess our audience might typically be 40's.... you try getting them out too many times. They have the money but also too many other things to do socially. Of all the things wrong with our band, it is keeping an audience over a few months.or targetting them in the first place. Other bands are far more successful getting attendance and it really is a mystery.and a major frustration..
12. My definition of 'making it' would be to accrue enough money to not have to work anymore. ..and that would likely be by playing in a very successful outfit for quite a time. The people I mentioned in the OP would have this as a goal, I think. Quite a few guys round here have very decent CV's but cannot live off royaties or money in the bank and therefore still have to work. You'd be very surprised who turns up on a few decent fun £50 payers !!!
13. I must say, I am in 2 minds about it. I know for a fact that many many older acts are still more than viable to a good level on the continent. It was just that I met this mod looking guy at a recent gig of ours who wasn't as young as his girlfriend..by some way, and he seemed to be a friend of our dep drummer. The conversation turned to bands and he said he was still pursuing 'making it'....and in an original sense. And he isn't the only one by any means...
14. Just something that has been apparent in a few instances of late..where I have met a few guys still working on trying to make it in music when of an age where the music industry wouldn't be interested in them. I am talking about bands with images etc etc...when I would have thought late twenties was the time to figure out something else to do..???
15. I think she is far more than bubby-gum pop..I think she can sing great and her tunes are a bit now for the market but this girl will not fade in 2 years with the talent she has, IMO. I can see no reason at all why she can't be a Major artist beyond pop singles.
16. He is not that into you..... move on.
17.
ARGH cant see pics at work. Will try on my phone.
I can tell you it looks great.
18. I would prefer the Epi..and the on hearing that test, confirms it would be my choice.
19. Depends what you play but I think the Jazz will be far more versatile. The Smiths tend to be very specific and only at home in certain genres..IMO.
20.
So not entirely sure I can say our first gig was sucessful
Sounds like everyone really enjoyed themselves..
21. Hope it goes well....all in a good cause as well.
22. no... internal fuses will be rated as per..and you need to open it and have a look. My amp has these line fuses per channel on the outside at the back...others might not. But...... fuses go for a reason so at this point it would be to a tech asap.
23. Who cares...???? you do the gig as you do and you live or die by that .. If you are unpopular/not rebooked because you are crap or too loud or whatever, it is down to you. If you packed them in, then the landlord would probably turn his attention to the neighbours, if you were PITA he'd turn it on you. If you have enough gigs and play the ones you want, you aren't doing much wrong, if you are scraping around for gigs and don't get re-booked or booked at all, you might consider that is telling you something.
24. As above in the first instance... then check any internal line fuses... The good thing is that there was nothing apparently dramatic in the shutdown..no smoke, sparks or noise..so the shutdown seems orderly...???? Not sure if these things trip out and reset, but swap out cabling/leads that could make the amp go into shutown mode,.
