1. Well it looks good to me... don't like the price so much! 2. Your results look amazing and it did cross my mind to ask you... the problem is that it is time consuming and at the moment you are enjoying the results of your hard efforts. You may not feel so up for it when the bodies go. I know a lot of people who could do it but don't as they find it boring getting in all the harder areas. Different when it's your own I guess?
3.
Best - Soundslive.co.uk
I also like the guys at Peter Cooks. For a personal touch I love my local shop for servicing, set ups and the odd second hand interest

5. I'm looking to record a new album this year but I'm struggling to find a decent studio that isn't geared more towards Emo / Indie acts. I want a studio engineer that isn't phased by double bass, banjo or mandolin & ideally with an understanding of Americana / Folk / Country music. We're based mainly across Berkshire but with a drummer in Dorset so our catchment area would be there but with West London being a consideration if it was a good studio. Also South Oxfordshire or North Hants are certainly areas we'd consider. Anyone? Google isn't giving much away
6. I suppose sellers can change their minds as well as potential buyers but it does make sense now that sellers have to list prices that feelers should be less and less. I think this is more common with part exchange deals though as this is where the deal is far from set in stone
7. Just attaching some better pics from my mobile phone. As you can see immaculate is a fair description and I can't stress enough how my wife wants this out of the living room!
8. Looks lovely but that is a high price even for a 61 in that condition.
9. Yes to a tuner but I don't own a 5 string so don't know on low B. I have stuck my double bass through it and it had no problem with the bass there. Equally I don't use distortion on my playing. It sounded like distortion on bass but I'm no expert in this field. Quite a tidy bit of kit IMHO
10.
Wife claims to be distantly related to Kylie Minogue.
You'll be having Beedster around for dinner now you've posted this!
11.
Reply to M. Jackson, LA BB
Or AKA "Do ya wanna be in my gang?"
12. I too have done a lot of recording & always used the DI option dating back 20yrs when I didn't really know much but all the various engineers preferred it. I was listening to some 15yr old demos last night & thinking just how good my bass sounded.
13. And at another Quireboys gig Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain got in the way of my photo...
14.
Bidder 6 went in with a stupid number. I wonder if they got taken in by the "Ernie Ball Stingray MusicMan" part in the title.
I reckon so, £350 is crazy. I bet the seller is chuffed
15. To add to a couple of the comments I only use my in passive mode too. I prefer the sound of a passive Fender bass anyway so the active tone was unlikely to interest me. I just thought the red one looked as cool as jam
16.
I played bass in Bloc Party, what a bunch of bell ends.
I was at a Quireboys gig in Bristol a few years back and the coolest bit of graffiti in the toilet read "Bloc Party are ok but need to practice"
17. Summing up the word tenuous; I lent my bass rig to Norman Watt-Roy at a recent gig. I played with the late great Paul Fox from the Ruts... and he played drums for us! Jonathan Ross once very relucantly took a demo tape off me in Oxford Street and then never called Keith Chegwin once correctly gave way to me at a roundabout I once went on Bruno Brooks' boat in Pangbourne I queued at an airport with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons or Dusty Hill (at the age of 10 they both looked the same to me so who knows!)
18. I have an old valve Bassman head which of course has a guitar input and a bass input. I've actually never tried the guitar input but presumably would want a different cab to get a halfway decent tone. My thoughts are that it's all a nice theory but ultimately I suspect more effort for less results. Probably best off lurking around the 'Bay as they often have decent bargains cropping up, especially old 70s stuff
19. The same ad was on Berkshire Live but has now mysteriously disappeared suggesting it has been filled. I jammed with that guy a few years ago and he was a really good player.
20. I was going to offer mine for £150! Same model but different colour
21. Good idea but I don't know that I do. I think I do with some basslines, in my head at least but generally I lean towards no. That said I can think of a few songs in the set where I most certainly do. I guess it must be subconscious
22. I like the price but 95% feedback on EBay causes me some concerns. He's only got 3 as a seller and somebody wasn't happy (stating the fretboard was coming away from the neck). HE could have been unlucky but I'd want more reassurances before buying
23. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
24. My double bass is chinese and plays fine for my needs. I know the guy at my local music shop and we set it up together so it plays well. I wouldn't be put off. I got mine off a straight trade and didn't spend a penny
25. Nice colour Wayne. How smooth is the finish? It looks pretty professional to me.
