    Do you get a good country rock tone? The one thing which put me off was I didn't think it was going to give the most typical country rock setting. What bass do you play through it?

    I don't want to get any hopes up (hence no PM) but I am in the market for a Rickenbacker bass and have funds. What do you think of this? Does it play well? Is the neck good? What's the weight? Can you guess it if you can't weigh it? Have you tried it? Any issues? Original case etc? Sorry for all the questions! We had another similar thread yesterday with the similar lovely pics but not much detail. I have found a couple of nice Rickenbackers out there but I'm always happy to keep it in Basschat if I can. I was probably going to go new but if I can find a nice 70s 4001 I'll go with that. Cheers, Tim

Each to their own say I and there is no room for snobbery. I've played some great examples of what I hate, it's just not for my tastes

    Thanks Hamster & cheers guys. I assume the Hagstrom comes as a 4 string too as that is what Randy was playing? I know what you mean WoT - I think because he played it on a TV gig the photos from that set are common

    I'm watching an old Eagles bootleg and he is playing this which I'm always seeing him pictured with. It looks like a JapCrap Fender copy headstock but an Epiphone body. Anyone know what it is?

    That's hard to top! We turned down playing the US at SXSW as it would have cost us too much and we wouldn't have recouped the loss. However the band starts gigging again in 2wks having been on hold for 2 months due to my chemo. We have a few gigs lined up across England and the plan is for a couple of short tours of places like Scotland. We're recording our second album and working towards making SXSW possible for 2011. I also want to develop my playing a bit this year. I'm really positive about 2010. Should be a good 'un

    Here here Telebass! I have a few issues with the quality control on some of Fenders cheaper telecasters & hate the modern bridge on the USA ones but on bass the bridge is fine on mine and I see no point in getting a badass. The teles were different as they twang and chime better with a nice bridge plate but all the quality on my Fender basses has been great.

    There's no hard and fast rule about action. It would help to know if you have a specific problem or if you are just curious. Some like it low and even don't mind a bit of buzz (as long as it doesn't go through the amp when amplified) where as others are quite happy with a high action. It also depends on the style you are playing as to what your personal preference is.
