I like both and own both. I was a maple worshipper for years but recently have been acknowledging the joys of rosewood. If anything I lean more towards rosewood these days after 20yrs of shouting about maple but I prefer the maintainance free nature of maple to messing around with lemon oil

If you are playing it at home then at least you are playing it! I too own a maple Ric and I've always been a Fender player. As long as you get enjoyment from an instrument you should keep it

Just collected Rich's immaculate Ampeg USA SVT 210 cab from the fabulously named Flying Childers pub in the equally fabulously named Kirby Bellers. A great guy to deal with & he even bought me a pint which has rather raised the bar for any future basschat trades I do! Rich - as you can see it slots right in. Don't think the neighbours like it but it sounds awesome!

That's cool.... and I'll make a mental note to buy some new gear off you in 2010! There's an Epiphone Casino that floats around where I live that has always been sold on for £300 exactly. It's on at least it's 5th owner

I don't think you are alone here & I can think of a similar thing with myself about 4yrs back. I wasn't brave enough to share so publicly though. I think a big part of this is practice as you identified though. If you are dropping mistakes then iron them out. As a point of interest I sometimes used to mess up the easier riffs because they weren't so interesting so I'd practice and nail the complex stuff only to fluff the easy lines.

I love the Sid look on a P-bass. Out of interest (and don't feel you have to answer) did you make or lose money from selling it on / buying it back? Thankfully I've never sold anything on that I've missed so much I've wanted it back enough to buy it again... come close a couple of times though.

I too agree with Doddy. I look less the more comfortable I am with a song. It's never a problem unless you are so far hunched over your fretboard that you ignore the audience and the band.

Sounds a bit Nigel Tufnel to me. I remember stuff similar to that back in the 80s but like Mykesbass it's been a long time since. I'd get your setup properly looked at as you don't want it actually blowing something next time around.

I pretty much agree with Wil here. If you want some professionalism / structure with it then very probably this isn't the act for you. If you just want to drink and get high then it sounds like the ideal band. I agree, keep this away from rehearsal but I am sure there are others who see it all as part of the social experience. We have a few beers at rehearsals in my band but it really is a can each or a couple of small bottles at most and never more than that.

Don't forget the Classic series which don't have the active pups but favour the retro stylings. I think these are vastly improved on the MIM Standards and a serious step up. Future classics even

He's from near my parents place too. I like the bass but I see it as more clutter. I'm sure someone will get a good deal

Gear shares are pretty common place from a lot of shows I've done and it doesn't bother me. I'm with Mog in that the local band brings a backline. Ultimately you can say no though. More recently I've been playing bigger gigs and we're not doing the kit share. Last time I had another band use my amp / head was Wilko Johnson and I'm hardly going to say no to Norman Watt-Roy! Ultimately though, if it's your gear it's your say.

I agree with the above comments. The pics are good (not great but they show it for what it is). There absolutely will be somebody who would kill for this bass. I like the reverse body personally but I'm put off by the 5 string factor. Other people will be the opposite, some will not like anything about it and some will really go for it. I think EBay is the way forward. Some stuff moves quickly on Basschat, other stuff takes a while. Good luck with it
