NOT The biggest secret in the music industry
karlfer replied to SteveK's topic in General Discussion
Is that squirrel on a Bonsai tree, or is it a massive mutant squirrel which has grown through radiation poisoning? (That's how radiation works, right?). Either way - Isn't it a bit... arty for the French?
Quoting Jeremy Wade, radiation appears to have stunted the growth of Catfish around Chernobyl. -
A number of pubs I play in have instruments hanging on the wall, usually a Strat and a P-bass, maybe an old trumpet, etc. They're not there to be played, it's more "look, look, this is a music pub". I can't be the only person who checks to see if any of them are actually cool and valuable vintage instruments that have been hanging there since before they were cool and valuable ...
You aren't Jack, buy I still have to find one worth anything. In fact, finding one with all the requisite bits would be a start

Didn't they recently change it to withholding more of sellers money? I am fairly sure they used to be able to withhold in some circumstances, but they have now massively widened the range of sellers (ie under 100 sales). Added to which, if I read the mail correctly, they have recently decided to charge 10% of your DELIVERY charge. Yet more money for the ***** Sadly though, they do still have a bigger market for bass sales, even though prices on there are getting stupid in some cases.

And now for the "not David Bailey" moments . It's a slightly darker blue than Sonic, can look greenish in some light. Very retro though, IMO. Edit, looking at the photos, it will be cleaned before it goes anywhere

Over 30 years ago played bass with the chap on the right, guitars, keys, writer etc. At 15 his skills were stella. Chap called Dave Bainbridge, Iona one of his projects. He has played with the likes of Jack Bruce, Steve Hackett and philharmonics. Got a backstage pass to meet up again in April after he contacted me through Facebook. Genuinely glowy feeling. Be warned Celtic/prog ish content. http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=Uz8o9Q1y5WY

Thought these were about £1800 when they came out? Fender Bass Guitar | eBay

Further PM's replied. Despite it being up for a month, it will not be getting reduced. £700 is a VERY fair price in my opinion, for a bass as good as this. Or you can get a new one for £1150 . The scratchplate would help you spot the difference Cheers, Karl. Bass in use last Saturday night at The Griffin, Earlstown (fat ugly git alert)

Frankly he needs shagging with a ragman's trumpet! -

Copy of mail I sent yesterday, with no reply. Shame really as he set up a few months ago under two different names and has had some nice gear in. Most of it reasonably priced. Smeg, and now with link Fender Precision Custom Bass - Japan Mid 80's - Reliced! Dear cotswoldbassguitars, Hi there. If you take the neck off, the body will have a stamp, for example PB57-OWUS, which would be Precision Bass, 57 re-issue, Olympic White, US pick ups. It is possible to trace the kind of wood from that code. The heel of the neck would also have some info, although it is most likely only to be a production date. A photo of the neck pocket would be great.

Particularly Jason who is selling this, and is a member here.

Stunning bass . Couple of questions. 1. What is the weight please, it is important to some of us. 2. No doubt it is just light reflection but it looks like the hole for the micro tilt is painted over. It also looks like there is some white paint on the rear of the body where it meets the neck? Cheers, Karl.

Guess it's the "friend" she's selling it for, that took the neck off I just don't get it TBH . A couple of years back, yes, these did seem to be an investment but not now. Even at £400 it's going to cost a good bit more, even if only time, to sort. Each to there own.
OMG that bass must weigh about 5 stone with all that paint on it lol but on a serious note it is a lovely looking bass and the black scratch plate looks awesome it is another one of those basses that should not still be here and it is very fairly priced GLWTS karl
Still the lightest of my 4 basses despite it carrying a new 4.7 grams of cosmetic surgery
Damn this is tempting, is that the original woofer? If any of my currently for sale basses go I may not be able to resist...
Yup, original Yamaha woofer. The woofer cover has three layers of black Humbrol paint and two layers of Hard As Nails nail varnish on it, to match it to the black scratchplate

All a matter of want. JV, £700 US, 2011, £700. No competition for me, US every time. But, that's just a personal opinion as unlike some I haven't tried every bass produced
