  1. Take a listen to Phil Jones cab. They have 5" dia speakers
  2. You get what you pay for. i have a stageclix, its built like a tank and its never ever let me down, or picked up interference in about 7 years. It has its own rechargeable battery so you dont have to buy batteries. It was quite expensive. I had a samson, which used an aaa battery each gig, and it picks up some interference. I also recently bought a Line 6 G10 which has some great features, it turns off if not used, or if you unplug it. Play a note and it starts up. Its rechargeable but Its pretty flimsy. A friend has a line 6 and live he gets interference and it drops out. If you are using one live, Id rather have a cable than an unreliable radio.
  3. Thanks Phil, it was good to meet you, hope you enjoy the amp.
  4. Someone was advertising an eden metro combo on here. It was in your price range and it is a fabulous amp, although a bit heavy.
  5. I wish I had enough hair for a mullet
  6. Apparently they have changed their distrubutor, and the old company are discounting their stock to get rid of it. There are some good deals around.
  7. If you get this sorted and want to get rid of your old neck please let me know. I was looking for an old style 44mm g&l neck for my sb2 as you say, G&l -useless. Its a 21 fret neck I think
  8. Thanks gents Ive spent weeks procratinating, I wish I had brought it to the bass bash
  9. Selling my much loved Fender bassman 100T all valve amp and 4x10 neo cabinet. Im getting on a bit, and few gigs and the weight makes it sensible for someone else to have the pleasure. Its had a handful of gigs since NYE 2016. The specs for these are as follows. https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/bass-amplifiers/pro-tube/bassman-100t/product-2249100.html?rl=en_US https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/bass-amplifiers/pro-tube/bassman-410-neo-enclosure/product-22494000.html?rl=en_US There are guys on the fender web site who will demo far better than I ever could’ . There are two channels, vintage and overdrive, it sounds great, and has been more than adequate for pub gigs and larger halls It has automatic Bias, which monitors the valves, and allows you to change a valve if necessary without having to take it to a service centre. This amp as far as I kow as unique in the UK as only black and silver were imported by Fender. I tried to special order a Cream and Oxblood but these were apparently only a USA option. I had the cab and head recovered by Zilla cabinets in cream and oxblood, just after ive bought it, in December 2014. I had an additional changeable grill for the amp and cab, in Wheat so there are two looks. I checked the amp over today, and theres not a mark on it, it could have come out the shop today. I replaced the dogbone centre strap with a leather one after seeing two dogbones break on small fender guitar amps. I replaced the original castors on the cab from 2 inch to 3 inch which makes it a lot easier to move on rough ground. The cab is also virtually pristine. Say 9.8 Comes with Hot covers Head and Cab tailored covers, fender footswitch and the previously mentioned alternative grill cloths. There is also a spare set of Valves. I think I probably have the Original Fender shipping cartons, if I have you are welcome to them if required. I would prefer someone to come and try this. Im near waterlooville Hampshire. I will deliver or meet up within 120 miles ish of Waterlooville. L wont under any circumstances ship these as I have heard too many horror stories of damage in transit. Happy to answer any queries Sorry no trades
  10. i think thats really poor behaviour. Same thing happened to a friend of mine who plays drums. He used to do a 60 mile round trip every sunday for rehearsals and found out, as you did, that they had been doing gigs as trios as well as their normal 4 man line up. If people are upfront, an informed decision can be made. If the band says nothing, they know what they are doing is underhand, and they are contemptable. Hopefully they will advertise for a replacement who has read your post.
  11. I have a 100T, what do you want to know. I am also considering selling it because at my age 72, lifting is becoming an issue.
  12. the mesa boogie basis 2000 had two preamps, 1 valve, 1 fet and you could blend them as well. Discontinued a while ago so would be second hand only.
  13. A great version which changes to a Rock a billy style part way through
  14. Send the photo and any manufacturers details to http://www.wembleyloudspeaker.com/ and they will give you a price to repair
  15. A friend brought back an acoustic combo many years ago which he then gigged with an external transformer. He was more than a little aggrieved to find later there was a 120 /240v slider on the bottom of the chassis. Not saying the 270 has one but it might be worth checking if you haven't already done so.
  16. Ive got a cs64 which has a slightly different treble pickup, similar to the original horseshoe treble pickup, and I have had the same problems you have. I have tried one of these,. http://www.rickysounds.co.uk/Bezels.html with not too much success, and one of these Zero-Mod 4003 Thumb Rest , https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/221890260822?chn=ps&adgroupid=13585920426&rlsatarget=aud-295856144804%3Apla-142405565106&abcId=&adtype=pla&merchantid=115189455&poi=&googleloc=9045772&device=c&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0 In the end I put the cover back on the treble pickup [which I had removed with some difficulty], and i found a position which was reasonable comfortable. Good luck with the hunt, and if you find a miracle cure please let me know. Still sounds great so its worth persevering.
  17. from an interview on line Alan explained. While Soul Searching didn’t produce any major hits, it’s surprisingly the band’s best-selling album to date, reaching #2 on the R&B charts and #9 Pop and eventually earning platinum status well after its release date. “‘Love Your Life,’” Alan continued, “features the novel approach of both Hamish and I playing two basses simultaneously, and there was a sense of adventure throughout from Steve Ferrone’s inventive drumming, and Onnie’s concise and tasty guitars, that raised the entire work http://www.waxpoetics.com/blog/features/articles/average-white-band-blue-eyed-soul/4/
  18. Try here https://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/nitrocellulose-lacquer/
  19. Dont, I still shudder after 35 years
  20. I doubt if Mark King would get on with it, but I quite liked it. I bought the 406/450 because at the time I couldnt afford the 370/301 and by the time I did buy one, it was really overkill for the gigs I was doing, and a bit too much for my poor old back. Chimike is using a 370 with a bitsa 4x10 which i have used on a number of occasions and its one of the best sounding amps i have used.
