2. If you used a credit card through Paypal you can get you can retract your payment, I think. I've not done it before myself but I've heard about it. If the item wasn't as described then it's completely unacceptable and you shouldn't have to put up with it.
3. I vote Spector. In fact, Spector is the solution to everything!
4. Nice! I see you've never owned a bass that wasn't awesome.
5. That SR LE looks fantastic! Would really like a SR5 or a Bongo 5 myself......
6. Looks a bit like this: How does £50 posted sound? Or even better, as a p/x against a bigger interface.
7. I'm not a huge fan of EZDrummer (for the stuff I do), I think Toontrack's Superior Drummer 2.0 sounds better, as does Addictive Drums. But for Pop/Rock etc the EZdrummer kits are actually pretty good. As for a piano VSTi, the only one decent free one I know of is called CV piano http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Sl3kfx6GR8 It's not amazing, but for a free vsti it does the job.
8.
Is that a Christian Olde Wolbers (sp?) sig?
Yes, I believe so. It's got his signature on the truss rod cover and the back of the headstock. Gotta get that changed ASAP I'm also thinking of getting a neck pickup installed.
9. Guitars you say?
10. Yeah, I've been thinking that too. I had the same DI track sent high/low passed and sent through three signal chains. No matter how much I crank up the one with the lows I'm still not entirely satisfied with it.
11. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/867382/dunn2.mp3 I've been messing with various VSTs and layering lots of different tracks. Please ignore the slightly questionable playing (7/8 confuses me!) Update: Have a listen to these too: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/867382/Dunnjazz.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/867382/Dunntbird.mp3
12. I should be visiting in just over a week.
13. I finally got to play a Thumb today (At the Bass Cellar no less!) and I must admit it played and sounded amazing. It was the BO model - lots growl, nice comfortable neck, balances nicely, although the preamp didn't seem to do a huge amount. I loved the way the natural finish felt too. Compare that to the Jazzman FNA I played a few months ago and the difference is pretty significant! That bass was horrible! The only other Warwick I've played (Briefly) was a Corvette $$, which was nice but nowhere near as nice as the Thumb. I've read a lot about the wenge vs ovangkol arguments and also about the quality of Warwicks since the late 90s. Does anybody own both wenge and ovangkol Thumbs? If so, what do you guys think of them? Also, how does the BO compare to the NT?
14. Would you be interested in an ENGL Screamer 50w combo?
15. I don't think SM58s are capable of failing :
16. I'd love this, but collection could be a real problem and I don't like the idea of an acoustic being posted.
17. TDM

Traded.

How much would you be after in a straight sale?
18. If I remember correctly he also sold off loads of his Metallica-era stuff a few years back, including a bass he actually used with them and some demo tapes.
19. That guitar just screams Yngwie Malmsteen. If only it could make me play like him
20. Bump! Surely somebody must want this!
21. What does Goncalo Alves sound like, compared to something like Maple for example?
22. Speaking of Meshuggah, have you tried tuning your bass up to F? I think the bass and guitar playing in the same octave contributes a lot to the "djent" sound.
23. It's a GRG170DX Here are some more pics: A truss rod cover and backplate should be included, provided I can find them, as will the original black knobs.
24. Why don't we get a newton meter, attach it to the strings on a few different basses and see what happens? I can't speak for basses because none of my string through the body but I had a play with my two 7 strings guitars today. One is a Jackson with a big reverse headstock and a string thru setup and the other was a Ibanez with a non-reversed headstock and tremolo (blocked so it's effectively a non-string thru fixed bridge) It may be psychological, as having read this thread I'm expecting a difference, but the string-thru, reversed headstock Jackson definitely required less force to bend the E-string up a tone than the Ibanez did. Both are also strung with the same gauge and brand strings.
25. If you have two guys playing you can do this:
